This thing has almost replaced my laptop! I use my laptop primary for remotely accessing my desktop computer (using Microsoft Remote Desktop). Processing speed isn't super important, but high speed WiFi is, as is a good display. The blazing fast WiFi great amount of RAM make it the perfect RDP client. When I want to watch movies, it has no problem with HD movie files (H.265/H.264/MKV) but struggles a little with decoding 4K files (it can't display in 4K) so I avoid them. I have the keyboard cover, which is nice, but I find using a mouse (Bluetooth) makes certain tasks easier because I'm too cheap to buy the Surface Pen. The 10" size is perfect for portability yet still big enough to easily see. The battery? Runs for days on a charge using RDP and easily lasts long enough to stream a few feature length movies.

The Surface Go 2 (8 ram, 128 ssd, Pentium Gold) is without a doubt my favorite computer device that I’ve ever owned. In fact, I sold my Samsung Galaxy Tab s6 in order to buy it. And since purchasing it, I rarely reach for my SP7. That said, I can not recommend it at full retail price. The advantages of the SG2 over the SP7 is that it is much lighter (easier to carry), battery lasts twice as long (leave charger home), tablet mode is substantially smoother (nicer user experience), and note-taking is more comfortable (smaller screen). As for the Tab s6, the SG2's pen, file management system, kickstand, and OS are better. The Tab’s pen is too thin, the button gets in the way, and the tip is too soft. The Tab’s file management system was a nightmare (for me). I had difficulty locating any documents I downloaded. No kickstand means you have to hold the tablet or buy a case. Finally, the Tab is not a computer, so you can’t run high-level productivity apps or programs. Additional Pros/Cons after three weeks of use. PROS: Battery life is outstanding. I get over 10 hours of continuous YouTube viewing (50% brightness with Bluetooth, Wifi, and battery saver all on). The battery lasted about 5.5 when I participated in an all-day online training using Zoom. CPU is not as slow as critics claim. Run a Windows 10 debloating script (Google Chris Titus) and apply suggestions outlined in "Ultimate Tips to Max Out Microsoft Surface Battery Life" to speed the device up (Throttlestop is an option for advanced users). Lag. Apps open about a half-second to a second slower than on my SP7 (10th gen i5 CPU). Once an app is open there is no lag when you click on a link. Additionally, I had no problem opening different web pages when 10 YouTube videos were all running simultaneously. Tablet mode is great. Apps open more smoothly in tablet mode than computer mode. Windows Hello is fast and works every time. The screen is bright enough at over 400 nits. The screen’s major upside is that in a completely dark room you can lower screen brightness to zero (saving battery life) and still watch YouTube videos without any problem. Build quality. The device is well-built and incredibility light. Kickstand stand is sturdy, extremely flexible, and rounded edges do not dig into your leg. Fan noise is none existent. USB-C port allows me to transfer files to and from my SP7 or connect the SG2 to my 24-inch monitor. Surface connect. Magnet is very strong, but the charger detaches easily if pulled off. Note-taking. SG2 is the perfect size for note-taking and is optimized for OneNote. Overheating. The SG2 does not overheat. It can get warm but never gets hot like the SP7. CONS: Price. The full retail price of the SG2 (8 ram, 128 ssd, Pentium Gold) is $550. If you add the pen ($99) and keyboard ($130) at full retail price the total is $779. There are periodic bundle sales on the SP7 (i5, 8 ram, 128 ssd) for $699 (SP7, keyboard) and $799 (SP7, keyboard, pen). Also, you can buy an open-box SP7 (i5, 8 ram, 128 ssd) for around $650. Consequently, buying the SG2 instead of the SP7 makes financial sense if you 1) can get it on sale or open-box or 2) need a battery that lasts substantially longer than 5-6 hours. My open-box purchase was only $389US. Accessories. You must buy the pen and keyboard, both of which are pricey. Might want to consider open-box purchases which will save you anywhere from 10% to 30%. Another option is to look for a $30-$40 Bluetooth or Wireless keyboard. If you decide to get the keyboard, typing on it is an adjustment. Having each palm up in the air (instead of resting on the keyboard) while typing seems to work best for me. Battery drain. There is over a 2% battery drain when the keyboard is attached to the SG2 and the device sits unplugged over night. Battery quickly returned to full capacity once the device was plugged in. The obvious solution is to detach the keyboard after shutting down the device. Bluetooth. The Surface pen does not remain connected once the device is turned off and has to be reconnected via Bluetooth every time I turn the device back on. USB-A port. Unlike the SP7, there is no USB-A port so I had to buy a dongle. Speakers. When it comes to listening to music, treble is a bit too high and the bass is too weak. For non-music videos the speakers are fine.

Excellent tablet/laptop for the price. I have been using my Surface to watch videos, work in Office, play games from Steam and pay my bills. I was quite surprised at how much power this device had when it came to paying games off steam. I installed Quake and Kings Quest collection and similar games that play really great. I haven't tested any larger games yet, but I'm not expecting anything too complex to run. I recently upgraded to Windows 11 and it runs just great as well. I installed a 256 gb card to install games from Steam to. I purchased a Bluetooth keyboard that works really well. The attached keyboard makes this a small laptop that's easy to handle. I was very satisfied with the performance overall and I highly recommend it for light usage.

I bought this as a travel computer because it is small and light. It seems tiny. The keyboard is workable, but not if someone has big fingers. It's an adjustment. Overall, I do like it but with the Celeron processor, it is slower than what I'm used to and sometimes I've had to re-start it. Compared to the Surface Pro 4 which I have, and I absolutely love that, although I like the Go 2, it is an adjustment. As a professor, I do love that I can separate the keyboard and grade assignments; it's almost like holding a piece of paper to grade. Would I purchase it again? I'm not sure.

Bought the Surface Go 2 for portability. It is extremely portable. For light computing, I haven't had a problem. It is adequate for creating documents, spreadsheets, presentations, email, and web browsing. Windows 11 is not great for tablet use.

This is a great portable tablet/laptop for those that are on the go. 8gbs of ram is more than enough for multitasking, and the ssd makes boot up times very quick. Battery life is also very good!

I am very happy with this purchase. I needed something more portable than a laptop, with laptop capabilities and the Microsoft Surface Go has not let me down. I switched it out of S mode (as recommended by many reviews) mostly so I could download Adobe to read my PDF files. I had the option to buy a PDF reader from the Microsoft store, but being stuck in my ways I opted to switch to Windows 10 and download Adobe. The only regret I have about doing that is the amount of updates I get. I don’t think I would have so many updates on S mode. Overall, I am pleased with this tablet. It operates smoothly even with multiple files and browsers open.

This PC is perfect for students. Get full windows features in a portable package. You will find yourself buying accessories for this PC so keep that in mind as additional costs on to of an already somewhat high priced item. A keyboard and mouse will be necessary when you want to do desktop work but not for tablet functionality. Also, given the fact that this PC only has one USB C port you will want to purchase some kind of hub or docking station with multiple ports and if possible some HDMI and/or VGA ports for additional displays. This tablet/PC can be charged via USB C. Overall it is surprising how much this little thing can do. Very pleased with my Surface Go 2.

...it's very well made, has a very nice screen and is very portable. It's adequate for web browsing, word processing and emails but not much more as it boast's pretty lightweight specs. Please note that if you are thinking about getting one include the cost for the Surface Go Type cover as it makes the user experience much more enjoyable.
