One of the best hardwares from Microsoft

Fanless, high res screen and Intel i5 - for ~800, there is no better deal at this point. If you shop harder, you can find deal that comes with keyboard and pen for the same price. Microsoft has magic in surface pro, it is running so cool without a fan. I can't believe it. I went back and forth with other strong 2-in-1 laptops, fan noise was one of the deal breakers for me. Highly recommended

Screen Went Bad After A Day-And-A-Half

I bought the Surface Pro because I wanted something small and light to take with me to meetings and when I was on the road. I also wanted something that ran Windows 10 instead of a iOS or Android. The Surface Pro looked perfect so I bought it and the keyboard cover.
Everything worked fine for a day-and-a-half, then the screen started flickering and a horizontal line appeared halfway down the screen. Below that line were dozens of other lines and mirror images of other parts of the screen.
For the price, I expected something that would last more than a day-and-a-half. Total junk. DO NOT BUY.

Just went out, the same day I discontinued my total tech subscription. Was casually using the laptop mostly for fantasy sports stuff and email. Cancelled service at 8pm laptop went out at 8:30. Took it to geek squad and they said it's likely the mother board that can't be serviced and would make more sense to buy a new one(?) Why would I do that? Obviously, this system is not reliable especially for the high price tag, trash I say ... Smh

Too Expensive / Not Repairable

Own / Owned over 20 Surface Pro 3 models (i5 / 8 GB / 256 GB SSD).
Many have failed batteries (Microsoft pledged $200 cost for battery swap). Now charging $450 to swap with another Surface Pro 3 with 60 days warranty and many of those units have battery issues also so what do you gain? Battery issues started with the failed August 2016 / November 2016 firmware updates that you cannot refuse to install via Windows Updates (Win 10 Pro).
Microsoft has been ignoring hundreds of upset customers on the MS Surface forums relating to the Surface Pro 3 firmware / battery issue.
We have been replacing ALL failing Surface Pro 3 with Lenovo Yoga 14 (20FY) 2 in 1 also available at Best Buy. The Yoga 14 is a better unit than the Surface Book / Tablet for the price and you can upgrade the SSD with any 2.5" SATA3 SSD of your choice.
Will NEVER consider Microsoft again as a tablet / laptop vendor for our company.

Awful Quality for a $1000+ device

Okay, the first few weeks after I bought it went fine. After that, computer became glitchy and slow. Finally, after 3 weeks of careful use, it crashed - so I was unable to boot it back again. Turned out, that SSD has died shortly after MS Windows April 2018 update was released. I've exchanged this computer for another one, and got a refurbished PC. This PC was even worse quality-wise than my original computer. It was full of scratches, and had a screen bleed. After a month of use, its network card fried -- so I couldn't use neither WiFi nor Bluetooth. That was it. I was done. As soon as I save enough money, I'm gonna transition to Mac after using PCs for over 10 years. Thanks Microsoft!

Horrible keyboard accessory on a good computer

Everything seems fine until 3-6 months when the magnet style keyboard connection gets dirty, then the software doesn't recognize the keyboard - 2 strikes, 20 months of ownership make this the frustrating unit Iv'e ever worked on, do not buy the magnet connector style, it's a waste. I am typing this on the screen as it crapped out again, so now i lose 1/3 of the screen, AGAIN!
No exchange program I can find...

The surface pro is expensive as it is. Now, Microsoft decided to exclude the surface pen. This is a deal breaker! Time to look elsewhere.
