If you only have a desktop you will be amazed being free to take your computer anywhere with full power and no cord needed. I have always had a desktop, and I couldn't take being tied to my office anymore, and trying to do medium office work on a tablet just dosn't work. I decided it was lap top time, and looked at the Microsoft line while at the store. I was a little skeptical of the Surface Pro i5/8/128, Thinking it would just be another tablet like device that lagged In performance. Wrong it is A Full power computer, boots in 8 seconds or less, so far handling tons of web use with many windows/tabs open, photo shop, Excel, and Word without a hitch and with zero lag. Add your Passport HD and all the storage you could every need. At first it feels like the screen might be a little to small, but getting used to working on the ultra sharp display, will actually make you more proficient at your tasks. I have really come to like the smaller screen and find my eyes are a little happier not having to look around the larger screen to find items. Hint hint a 13.5'' surface pro would be great also. The MS keyboard is excellent and feels great to type on. Very little heat and no fan running while on is also a nice benefit. If the Surface Pro hold up and lasts for 5 years it will be a home run. For productivity it is a great value and dont be scared to spend a couple hundred more on this if you can. Great Job Microsoft.

Only thing I would like differently would be a cellular service option. Otherwise, it easily supports Microsoft Office, Adobe, Google Earth, .KMZ files and CAD Viewer.
