As a laptop it suffices, as a tablet it sux, Windows apps leave a lot to be desired, when I can access the app store. As a laptop, it works, but you miss the full features of a regular laptop and for the money you can get a great laptop

I am not happy with my recent purchase and would like to look into a replacement. I paid too much money for a product that doesn't deliver the expected results. I would rather an ipad with a keyboard.

Very unhappy that Google does not support Windows OS on this device. The device itself is compact and portable. Still trying to learn all that it can do.

Well constructed piece of hardware but a bit chunky. I was disappointed that Office was not included. I returned the Surface and purchased a Yoga 2 Pro for a little more perceived utility.

Not bad for a portable computer however the interface takes some getting use to. Half the time I don't know what's easier, touching the screen or tabbing through the fields.

    Excellent Tablet/laptop

MS Surface Pro2 is an excellent table/laptop/pc. I replace my PC and laptop with this tablet and one of the main reason was it runs windows programs. Everything that you was able to do on your laptop or PC you can do on this tablet if you don’t mind the 10” screen. PC gaming is not my priorities so I cannot comment on that. Battery life is not that bad at all, it gave me about 7 to 8 hours of constant use and standby approximately about 5 to 7 days with minimal used on one a single charge. The tablet will take like 1 to 2 hours to fully charge using the magnetic charger that easily snap on and off. The screen is nice and vivid regardless the low PPI count but it is still 1080p. The touch screen is very responsive and for some reason the glass feels very smooth oily like which I like it a lot because my finger doesn’t stick to the glass it just glide on it, even after wiping the screen it still feel the same. This tablet weight about 2lbs which in reality is not really that heavy for average person either way this thing was made to be use with two hands due to the portrait layout, you can also rotate it upward and feel much better one handed. Surface is very well made doesn’t feel cheap at all, but I really wish they added a silver color option like the RT version, the black magnesium is a finger print magnet LOL. If you’re a windows person you must have a keyboard you will notice you will use the keyboard more often than the actual touch screen. I only use it as a tablet when I’m doing quick internet browsing or checking email, using the XBone Smartglass, and watching videos, when doing actual work keyboard snap right back on. I have the touch cover 2 because is light and can be clean with damped clothe and is water spill resistant. Touch keyboard feels weird at the beginning and you can make a lot of missed spelling but you get used to it. Also the touch cover can be fold all the way back so you don’t have to detach it to use the touch screen, it also light up best part. I did try the type cover 2 didn’t like it, it make the tablet little bulkier. So far on this tablet I have run all my windows base programs and they run without a problems. Storage, I have the 128GB version which is not a lot depending on your usage, luckily you have and SD card slot and a USB3 socket and cloud storage which can easily expand storage to a little over 200GB on top your 128. You can easily filled 128GB and from the start you only have available around 98GB due to the OS system files and recovery. You can easily manage that by adding 64GB SD card or 128 USB stick and save or your files there and only use the internal storage for applications. MS give you 20GB free Skydrive storage which automatically sync with your surface and google give you 25GB free with goggle drive that’s another 55GB. If you have a router at home that support cloud drive that’s also an advantage use your hard drive, I have 1TB drive that I can access from the cloud or at home, so storage now days is not an issue. Connectivity, Bluetooth, Wifi and MDP no NFC or AC connection they dropped the ball there, I guess they saving it for the SPro3. With the BT you can share almost anything with a BT compatible device, I usually share files between my GalaxyS4 phone and Surface using BT is fast and simple. Wifi connection I very reliable I have not encountered any issues with that, you can also Mirror your Surface screen using Wifi connection and a smart TV that support WIDI, I do that with my LG TV. I have not try the MDP port no need to use it. The built in speaker are not bad, their more like an average it sound flat. Also Surface Pro comes with a Stylus Pen only used it once or twice to try it out and is pretty accurate and you can actually erase by using the pen eraser the same way you use a pencil. The device has 2 cameras, which can record in HD 720p but the pictures are not that great they could done a lot better with that. Windows 8 is not for everyone just need to have patience and actually start using it so you can get accustomed to it. A lot of us are used to windows 7 but with this thing just click desktop and there it is. If you miss your start menu that’s easy Startdock8 that will bring the old windows 7 Start button. Windows 8 is a learning curve but is a sleek system specially the live tiles is a nice touch, is not perfect but I like it. Windows store is not consistence and does not have a lot of Apps, in a way doesn’t affect me much since I use windows programs not many mobile apps. So if you looking for a tablet that can do real work perform as a PC or a tablet with good battery life I recommended the Surface Pro2. I have owned this device since November and I love my Surface. I forgot to mention the built in kick stand is a plus with 2 different positioning option.

    3rd machine is working adequately

I upgraded from Windows XP to the Surface Pro 2. The first two machines had mechanical problems. The third machine seems to be working adequately. It was extremely difficult to know how to use the first machine when I could not reach the internet and Microsoft's website because the wireless did not work. I would suggest more printed instructions be included with the packaging and that the retailer thoroughly check out each machine before it is turned over to the purchaser.

I was looking for a tablet platform for medical EHR use. For that purpose, I felt the screen was too small. I liked the touchscreen functions, and liked the full windows functionality. When trying to use with the narrow aspect top and bottom, it was just too small to accommodate software applications without burdensome and awkward maneuvers. The Surface Pro 2 was impressive on many levels, but couldn't do what I needed.

Not much to say about this. On the third night of using it, the screen suddenly and inexplicably locked up. I tried invoking the task manager, which took about a minute to even launch, but then said "not responding." I've never had a task manager fail to respond, not in any version of Windows. I tried rebooting several times, but the problem persisted. Basically the tablet just kind of stared at me until I finally brought it back. So... I don't know that I can give a comprehensive review to a product that is so completely broken that I couldn't even use it. I will say that prior to the issue, I was completely unimpressed with Windows 8 - not intuitive at all, and very slow and unresponsive. I get the feeling that this version will be mentioned along with ME and Vista. Definitely not what I should expect from a brand-new product at a $1,000 price point. It would have been bad enough if the thing actually worked. FAIL

    Exceptional

I never understand why reviews are so critical regardless of whomever elects to buy such a product such as this, including so-called professional websites that in my opinion cannot ideally be full trusted on their reviews because we live at a time when even companies are going to be swayed (money) to favor or not favor a particular product. With that said, the unit is phenomenal, battery life is phenomenal, it is super fast, super easy to set up, super easy to use. What is the ridiculous argument about Windows 8 or 8.1? If you read a review on here that complains about Windows or this tablet, that person I can assure you is technically challenged and shouldn't be in possession of this superior product. IPAD is for a generation that is into socializing - facetime, email, etc. This unit covers that and all individuals that actually lead a productive and relevant life. Everything on it works smooth as silk. And if there is any issue whatsoever, it is so small in importance that it is barely noticeable. Technology is constantly evolving and no one item out there is perfect. But I would dare to say that this unit is. Again, if you want to email, get real work done instead of skyping or whatever the hell it is that IPAD owners waste their time doing, GET THIS TABLET. It blows everything else away.

It's awkward to use and if you get a mouse it is even worse. Charger comes loose since it's held by a magnet instead of plugged in. If you don't use it all the time it will load updates from Microsoft when you turn it on and it can take some time before you can get online.

I purhased a Surface Pro 2 in Dec. and returned it 14 days later for a full refund.. The touch screen would not respond properly for me or others. The pencil worked now and than. Jumping back and forth between touch screen and keyboard is too slow. It would not except my up-to-date Dell printer software. The batterys would not hold up even close to the advertised time. My GPS Map program got very confused on this computer and could not find my location. The Map program works good on a HP. It seems that it is more of a social toy than a pro computer designed for the work place. Think twice befoe you buy. I will purchase a Win 7 Pro to replace it.

Great for business or student people on the GO!

With Windows 8.1 out I can happily say goodbye to my Ultrabook, iPad and Android tablet. I only use this. I would highly recommend the type style keypad over the touch but they are both great. I also added the Ghost Armor to it, I found the shell scratches pretty easy and the screen really attracts the finger prints. The device is very fast and battery life is great. I get stuck moving a lot around the office or different offices and even after a 10 hour day of up and down I still have juice left. The power supply is great with the extra USB port so I can charge my phone at the same time. Just kind of in an awkward place and if it is plugged in you have no place to put the stylus. Pretty good bang for your buck and it has replaced all my other mobile devices. Would recommend this for anyone in business or school that is always on the go!

It is a GREAT unit for School, it is not quite at the point to run a full business, the number of folders and files is to overwhelming, the next generation should hit the spot !
