Incredible business tool!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am immensely grateful and happy with my product, the Surface Pro 2. This is a great tool for me and my growing sign company. I can load all of my photos, documents, invoices, and information onto my tablet. And the greatest feature that I love the most is that I can load any program I want that runs on regular windows. This is a huge plus for me because I travel sometimes for job sites and installations, so I can ever so easily bring my tablet along, with everything in hand, opposed to leaving the big desktop behind. Deffently a must buy for any business owner!

Love it
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this tablet/laptop. Use it for everyday use. So easy to use and I thought I was going to hate using window 8 cause I ave it on my PC but it's completely different using it on the tablet. With the PC I have difficultly getting the other open app to come up. But with the tablet you just slide your finger. I love the multi tasking. It make my life as a mom easier when it come to research and homework. I open the web Page and a Microsoft page at the same time. Oh when I'm lazy and don't feel like typing I just write it down with my stylus and have it type the words for me. And it understand my chicken scratch.

Awesome Surface Pro 2!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I can take my desktop with me. At home plug in to an external monitor and easily transport my desktop downstairs and out the door. Super powerful and long battery life. Love this Surface Pro 2. When used with the Pro Docking Station you can drive an additional screen for a total of 3.

Great tablet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Finally I have decided to plunge into the Surface Pro tablet. Version 2 makes it a great tablet. It's unbelievably fast and responsive. The HD screen quality is fantastic. Haswell 22nm processor substantially extends the battery life. It’s easy to use too. I thought that 128GB version was a great buy. Combined with the Microsoft - Type Cover 2 (Purple) backlit keyboard makes it very appealing. No regrets. Highly recommended.

Best Pro Tablet On The Market
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I started with Note 10.1 2014, returned it, lag. Then went and got Surface Pro 2 (64GB), really liked it, wanted faster and more storage finally got this 128GB version. This tablet is very fast, feels a lot like my desktop computer. My only complaint is the weight. Here is the break down: Performance: Fastest performance you going to get on a tablet. CPU speed is about a medium performance desktop computer. SSD speeds are medium-high rating. Graphic performance, I seen people play Crysis 2/3 on this thing. Usability: It is the thickest/heaviest tablet on the market, however the kick stand helps out a lot with its 2 positions. There is no reason to hold it, you can put it on a table and work or put it on your lap. Features: USB 3.0, microSD card?, mini DIsplay Port. I think the big one is a full featured USB 3.0 port. Software: Windows, windows, windows, that's all I need to say. The app store is limited or expensive, however, this is a big one, this is not android or IOS OS, which is basically stripped down to the bones. This is a full desktop OS. There is no need to download a File Manager, or network browser, or a special sharing app, or a remote desktop app, media player, this is all built it into the OS. Also IE11 is very very well done. This browser is GPU accelerated, it is very smooth. Not So Good: - A lot of software feature are hidden, not well exposed and organized, you have to spend a lot of time to look for them. There are a lot of options that are all over the place and they all sound the same but do different things. MS needs to clean this up. - Microsoft needs a intro video when you power the surface the first time, showing you how to use the tiles. There are a lot of features which you can show in less than 2 minutes which saves you a lot of pain. - Weight: This tablet needs to be about 1lbs and 2x thinner, then it would be perfect. For USB, may be they can get some kind of adapter. Benchmarks: The CPU/GPU benchmarks are everywhere on the web. However very little STORAGE benchmarks. I am not sure if I can post screen shots, I am just going to lay this down. The 128GB vs 64GB SSD is a big difference. So for 100$ more dollars you get double storage plus a lot more speed. Also WiFi speeds are 3x-4X improvement over standard android devices. AS SSD Benchmark 1.7 64GB Version: Seq: 490MB Read, 167MB Write 4K 19.51 Read, 57.83MB Write Score: 713 128GB Version: Seq: 503MB Read, 312MB Write 4K 22.50 Read, 68.06MB Write Score: 942

Expensive, but replaces my laptop and ipad
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Surface is a superb machine as you get the benefits of a laptop with the awesome touch-screen functionality of a light i-Pad. Windows Surface Pro-2 gives you longer battery life than any laptop, and is way lighter. Getting used to Windows 7 takes a while, but once you get it, the integrated touch pen and Mousepad on the keyboard make it a breeze. Meet with a BestBuy expert on site and take 10-15 mins to have them show you around Win7 on a tablet. The multiple sites to toggle between desktop and Ap-mode is really cool. I love the pen and the easy access to email and apps, while able to use like a full computer at will. The expansion slot for a mini SD allows you to further expand the RAM and I put all downloads there so the RAM is always open. Works on big programs like Photoshot without problems, opens it and powers up/down faster than any laptop I have owned. The screen is small, but high def. WHatever button is kind of small for your finger can be reached with the pen. It really is SO much easier to travel with than any laptop I have owned. The biggest beef with the system is that it is expensive at entry and you have to buy an expensive cover/keyboard later - PAINFUL! However, the design is cool. Backlit and standard size- makes typing a breeze...it also lights up when you hover your hand over it w/o touching it. Nice. Second issue is that the windows platform is lagging way behind Apple and Google on Apps, but gaining steam. I use Itunes on the desktop mode to get movies and works pretty well. I know there are many other apps out there that I am still discovering. Realistically, iPad for me when I travel was to entertain my son and for me to watch movies/music - always having to pack around my heavy laptop as well. Having ITunes on this works for the last two - so my son gets the IPad - I can do my work, split the screen to type while I read something simultaneously. You can mark up a PDF with the pen and save the annotations. You can draw on powerpoint/Word with the pen and save the drawings as objects to move around the documents. Seamlessly. Zooming in and out of windows applications and Internet browsers is very responsive and seamless with pinch-motions on the screen. Buy it at BestBuy and invest on the extended warranty for a year- ANY issues (even damage) and you take it back for a new one. Too expensive to every replace on your own! LOVE IT - wish the price was more accessible (even the pen replacement is $30!!!

Amazing little tablet...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well let me paint a picture for you. As I type this out on my Surface Pro 2 with my type cover that is backlit I am also listening to music in the background...no headphones...it sounds surprisingly good. Also I am uploaded professional pictures to my SkyDrive to share them with a client...that I edited on the Surface in Adobe Lighroom 5 and Photoshop CS6. Should I keep going? This is a tablet...but it is also a full computer. It is more powerful than anything you would have found several years ago for the price but it offers so much more. I really believe this is the future...which is why Microsoft made it. They are trying to get people on board with the future. Mobile devices are taking over the industry compared to computers...a tablet is the perfect bridge. It has everything you want from a portable tablet (albeit thicker and heavier than usual) with all the power of your computer. With the digitizer pen I have found editing pictures and designing in Photoshop is far more natural. I can now write out emails to my grandma as well. She likes seeing my handwriting...but now I don't have to pay for postage. I don't think you will regret buying this. I only have three gripes...and I knew they where going to be a problem before I bought the Surface Pro 2. #1-The Surface Pro 2 is thick. I am sure it is because it has a solid magnesium body and lots of large parts inside...but maybe making the screen a little bigger could have thinned it out...which leads to my next point. #2- The screen is small. I came from a small thin touchscreen laptop...but this feels even smaller. (there is a nifty docking station to make the tablet into a workstation) #3-Lack of accessories is frustrating. I would have liked to buy just a cover...without Type or Touch...granted I don't regret buying the type cover. It helps a lot...but It would have been nice to be able to get away without one at first. I WOULD SUGGEST GETTING THE NEXT SURFACE UP: The next surface up in size has more RAM. Twice as much as the 128gb. I do wish I would have known that before I bought this model. Windows 8.1 is fluid and easy to use. Once you get over the differences and embrace it you will find Windows 7 clunky and inefficient in many ways. I think it is smart for businesses to utilize this if they can. It is a good way to embrace the future.

Good Computer/Tablet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like my Surface because you get all the benefits of a table plus a computer in one portable package. The RT is just a tablet. The Surface Pro 2 is gives you the best of both worlds with the ability to download files, download apps, etc. It's really fast too. Beautiful screen. The only minuses are it's significantly more expense than the Pro, which doesn't seem justified, and it's heavy for a small device. Still a really nice machine.

Excellent Hybrid
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, how I use this machine: I'm a programmer who often works remotely, I use the Surface Pro 2 to connect to my home machine via GoToMyPC, I do a heavy amount of work with Microsoft Office (Access / Excel), and sure, once in awhile I'm looking at cat photos on Facebook. Don't judge me. Anyway, this machine is absolutely fantastic. If you have poor eyesight, yes the screen can be a bit small, and it has a fair amount of glare, however it's perilously close to replacing my desktop machine. With everything moving to cloud storage, it's not terribly necessary to have a massive hard drive to store everything local any longer (Google Drive gives you 1TB for 10/mo and your data is accessible anywhere). So a small hybrid tablet/pc like this is perfect for remote work. Fits in just about any bag, not too heavy, keyboard is great, pen is fantastic. Navigating with the pen has been a revelation, wish I could do it on my home machine. Also, the Surface Pro 2 comes with a MicroSD port, so with the 128GB model, I can throw an extra 64GB Micro card in it for a great amount of storage. The cons? I wish the charge would last a little longer. Right now it'll average out at about 4.5 hours on a full charge with a dim screen, probably a little less if you watch frequent movies, etc. Don't let the cons scare you, the machine charges easily with a nifty magnetic charger, holds the charge great in sleep mode, and the screen is vibrant and easy to work on when plugged in. In all, Microsoft did a fantastic job with this little thing. It's a powerful i5 with plenty of features for most any work you would do. Well worth the investment if you need a very mobile computing solution that's not based off apps from Play or iTunes.

Powerful little Tablet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this tablet because with the i5 processor it had the capability to play low end graphic games such as World of Warcraft (WoW) and Star Trek Online (STO). Yes that's right, a gaming tablet! Not some high end $3000 unit that keeps getting a pushed back release date (razor edge) but a market ready usable devise that allows me to play where ever I go without dragging around a 15lb computer bag. Processing speed holds up even on higher demand graphics (ie. cut scenes) and connects easily to wifi or my mobile hotspot. The magnetic charger cable and stylus pen are unique and a very nice feature and with one USB port and the additional snap on magnetic keyboard (purchased separately) this tablet easily converts from a laptop type devise back to a tablet. Because the black metal like casing scratches easily I did find a need to attach a skin to help protect my hardware. An added bonus is expandable storage option with a microSD so even if you decide to purchase the slightly cheaper 64gb surface pro you can still expand storage apace.

Better than expected
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Every once in a while you get something that turns out to be better than you expected. That's my experience with the Surface Pro 2. The solid state drive and I5 processor make it lightening fast. I had intended to just use it as a supplement to my laptop, tablet, and desktop, but I soon gave up the laptop all together along with my Kindle Fire. It is a little heavy for a tablet, but the other features more than make up for that. I run Windows 8 Ultimate, Office, Quickbooks, etc. on my Surface and everything runs faster than on my desktops. The 128G drive has plenty of room for programs & apps and with the micro SD slot, I have not even needed to use any external storage. While it takes a pretty good investment by the time you add a keyboard and mouse, if you are looking for a full blown computer that you can carry around with ease I think it is a great buy.

Top of the heap
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Over the last three years I have owned and used iPads, 2 Android tablets, a Kindle Fire HD, and one other Windows 8 tablet. This last item was the only mistake of the bunch. I chose the Atom processor, favoring 10 hours of batter life over the 5 that I expected I would get if I had bought the first generation Surface Pro. As tempting as it might be to review all of those products, I will limit myself to saying that the only two I would consider useful are the Kindle Fire HD and this one I am typing this review on right now, the Surface Pro 2. Why I feel compelled to give the Kindle Fire a little bump is that its small, light 8" form factor is perfect for reading in bed. Otherwise, it is as much a toy as any other Android or iPad table, and in some ways even more limited than either of those choices unless a user roots it and strips off the Amazon interface. Surface Pro 2 is the best of them all without a doubt. Even folks with the newest iPad Air in their hands have admitted this one is a more impressive machine. Given the rabid nature of most Apple fanboys, I would like to think that alone says all that needs to be said about the SP2, but I'll add my own two cents. 1) This is one fast machine, performing at least as well as most desktop computers and able to run any software I have thrown at it. 2) Accessories are plentiful, despite my comment above that there are limited cover options. I wish that the MS store were not so chronically understocked, but among Best Buy and Staples, etc., I have been able to locate the things I need offline. 3) It's beautiful and durable screen are perfect for both productivity and entertainment, and if I do find myself looking for a larger display, I only have to plug in another monitor or slide the device into a docking station, at which point it will give most any desktop computer a run for its money. 4) USB 3.0 means that whether I run this SP2 docked or free on a desk or my lap, I have infinite expandability and blazing file transfer speeds. Negative reviewers will probably comment about lack of apps in the MS store, but I have yet to suffer for a lack of Metro apps, and I really do not mind working in the desktop mode, so this has never been a concern of mine. Lastly, I must mention that Microsoft throws in several things to sweeten the pot: massive online storage, a year of Skype phone calls, and an exceptional extended warranty value. One tablet to rule them all in my opinion. When I go on a trip now, I have only one piece of tech to drag along other than my phone. This tablet does everything I need it to do--with elegant style.

Great portable laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.GOOD: - It is a very compact laptop. IT IS NOT A TABLET. It is easy to bring around and easily fits in your hands. - The lap stand works great. It is able to tilt back enough to be able to use on your lap. - Processor speed and memory is amazing. I have used Photoshop, Lightroom, Chrome, Media Player, etc all at the same time without any hiccups. BAD: - I understand it is meant to be compact, but the power keyboard is too small to be used comfortably. I have average sized hands and my hands begin to cramp quickly. - For being almost the same size as a tablet, the surface Pro is pretty heavy. Attach the power keyboard to it and it's very heavy. - It is also very limited on amount of USB ports. Definitely could use more. Overall, I returned it because my current 15" laptop is better for me. I do a lot of typing, and a lot of photo editing.

Overall Great Compromise
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had been debating getting a tablet/laptop for some time. Here are the good: 1. Great Screen Movies look fantastic 2. Easy to use 3. Convenient Its really easy to just throw it in my bag, the stand may only have two positions but both are good for about 90% of viewing situations 4. Great Battery Life I can easily get 6-9 hours of battery life with moderate use The Bad: 1. The black back scratches really easy 2. Only one USB port 3. Battery charging position 4. Speakers are okay if your in a quiet room with not a lot of ambient noise. Overall I really enjoy the surface, its a great compromise of both tablet and pc. Most peoples gripes I believe are with Windows 8, I find myself still using a mouse a lot of the time, but I don't have to have too . Hopefully these issues will continue to be addressed through the Microsoft updates. The type cover is a must, you can get by some of the time with the virtual keyboard, but a lot of sites and programs don't respond properly all the time, ie popup tabs on websites.

Great for those already using Windows on a PC
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My Surface Pro 2 is an excellent, portable choice for a tablet. Because my laptop and desktop are both running Windows and this tablet also runs the full version of Windows 8.1, they work very well together. OneDrive also automatically keeps the files in sync between the computers, so they work seamlessly together. It is quite a bit more expensive than other tablets on the market, but the limitations of the operating system on those devices are what made me go with the Surface. I also purchased the keyboard. Definitely add a screen protector to keep the keyboard from scratching the screen.

Love it! Convenient, powerful, portable.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I needed a laptop small enough to take to class, and have been wanting a tablet but never felt justified purchasing one. The idea of having a computer that could easily switch between the two was very appealing. It was also important to me that the computer I ended up purchasing was going to be powerful enough to handle anything I may need to install over the next few years, and the fact that the Surface Pro 2 is capable of running World of Warcraft really solidified it as my best option. It does have a rather steep price tag for my level of income and the fact that the keyboard is a separate purchase is a downside for me but I really could not be any happier with this computer.

LOVE my Surface Pro2!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this tablet, and I HATE tablets! I've had iPads, I've had Android tablets (3 of them), and I could never stand the browsing experience on any of them, but I really like the way the Surface Pro gives nearly the same kind of browsing experience I get from my desktop, despite the fact that I'm running Win7 on it and not Win8. I love the way I can access my emails, and store my documents easily in the cloud. Plus it's lightweight and portable, holds a charge well, and has wonderful screen clarity. I wouldn't trade it for anything else in a tablet!

Good for what it is
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have an iPad but need a table w/ a USB port. Windows 8.1 restricts some setups but if you like Windows, this is the way to go. Touch screen is not always responsive so have to depend on external keyboard sometimes. Bought the battery keyboard and like the extended life, even though it adds weight.

Excellent tablet/laptop hybrid
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am very happy with the purchase. The Surface Pro 2 is fast, versatile, and has a beautiful screen. The battery life is very good (though it can drain quickly with some processor-intensive tasks). At 2 lbs., it's a bit heavy for a tablet but not too much. Think of it not as a tablet but as a tablet/laptop hybrid. I bought it as a laptop replacement since I needed to run standard Windows software. The back scratches a bit too easily. The optional type cover is nice, and light, and works very well on a flat surface (such as a desk) but is a bit too flimsy for laptop use. Overall rating 4.5 (excellent).
