I spent a lot of money ($900+) on this, in the belief that Microsoft made good quality products. I was wrong. After 13 months of not even daily use, the type cover suddenly stopped working. I did all the online troubleshooting, ran the diagnostics app, and when none of this worked, I drove an hour to the nearest Microsoft store. They examined it briefly, then said the type cover port on the tablet must be bad, and for $450 I could exchange it. No thank you. I'll make do with an inexpensive Bluetooth keyboard, and spend my money elsewhere next time. Won't spend another dime on Microsoft, and certainly don't recommend their products.

Very impressed so far with my new Surface Pro 6. It's very lightweight and the keyboard magnetically clips on so its very convenient to take on and off. Speed is perfect for what I use the device for(web surfing, youtube, etc) and the tablet mode is good. I like how when you rotate the screen, no matter how you hold it, it adjusts. Overall, i'm very satisfied with this purchase, especially at the Black Friday 799.99 price.

The smaller SSD, while retaining the i5 and 8gb of ram and including the type cover make this a good deal for a secondary device. Battery life is very good (I’m getting 10+ hours browsing and typing), screen is gorgeous, and it’s a very compact lightweight package. Windows Hello is excellent, as is the lightning fast startup. I love having the ability to take a single device when traveling as opposed to my usual iPad/MBP combo. Bottom line: a full featured, productivity focused ultra light laptop that does a few tablet tricks when needed. Worthy upgrade from a SP4 or before.

It has more than enough functionality of a laptop with the style and is very easy to use much like a tablet. I have owned iPads for the better part of a decade and continue to do so and will continue to do so however this will be a permanent fixture in my device lineup as long as they put out a product of such high-quality like a Microsoft surface Pro 12.3 Kudos to Microsoft.

I just buy it today and overall, it’s good. I didn’t enter my Microsoft account yet. However, when I turn it off and open it on again, there is someone’s account on the screen which made me suprised, and when I open 3D drawing, last time it was checked is 5 months ago. That’s weird. I think this is my Surface is not the new one.

It's hard to like or hate this computer so I'm putting it at 3 stars and "average:" I would still recommend it to a friend IF (a big if) they needed what this computer offers. I like the 2 in 1 design. I had a surface book but sold it and missed the whole detachable tablet but in my opinion windows as a tablet just doesn't work, and I don't know why I thought it would be a different experience now. I probably sold that surface book because I was frustrated with the tablet experience. I liked the price and the bundle and the ability to add memory to it via micro SD card. The USB-A was nice too but a USB-C would have been nice because I have a lot of hard drives that have a USB-C connection. They're proven to be faster and having to use USB-A for files is annoying to me. If they had both USB-A and C on this computer I might have kept it. Another issue I had is this computer does not play well when unless you have it in one of the higher power modes. Off the top of my head I think there are 4 different power settings like power saver, max performance, etc. If you have it on power saver or the one next to power saver it will lag, and quite bad. You must use it on either the 3rd or 4th settings but of course that decreases the battery life so don't expect some kind of 10+ hours on a single charge unless you are prepared and accept the lag it brings on having a lower power setting. One main thing I did not like is that it's really not a laptop. The fold out stand is nice but when trying to use it as a laptop it is all over the place and you have to find the perfect spot. I am writing this review on a real laptop and it works great from many angles, but with the SP6 you have to have the perfect angle or work on a desk. Ultimately I think the main reason I returned this is because I'm so invested in the Apple ecosystem I can't go to another OS that doesn't support all the Apple products I have. I have a MacBook Pro 15 for work, MacBook Pro 13 for home, an iPhone X, iPad, and my family has iPhones. Adding a Windows laptop/tablet (which I intended to get rid of my iPad and MacBook Pro 13 for) to the mix was just too hard. iMessage integration into all of my apple products is something I'm not ready to get rid of. It's too easy and very little setup on apple products. I have a gaming laptop machine (windows of course) that stays in one spot in my house. If I need a portable version of Windows I could put W10 on one of my MacBooks. To end this review, I would say this is a good laptop/tablet combo if you're okay with accepting it's faults. If you NEED a detachable windows computer and are okay with the shortcomings of it as a tablet, then this could be a reasonable purchase. I like iPads and plan on upgrading my "old" iPad (that still works great by the way with zero lag) with the 2018 version so I don't have to use Touch ID anymore. If you want to use this only as a windows tablet, I would pass. nothing beats the apple App Store right now in terms of programs that are silky smooth and are extremely compatible with their products. I purchased this bundle for $799 then another $70 for the pen. For that price you could probably find something better as long as you don't need it to be detachable.

I don't know if this is a problem with just the 128 gb ssd- I returned one (was already on in the box!) but this second one also jitters a lot when scrolling by touch. So far I like it otherwise, although the platinum keyboard is a finger oil magnet... Before you decide, compare this one with models containing a more powerful ssd for their touch screen responsiveness.

    Very disappointing 6th gen

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I own a SP 4, The typecover for the pro4 was great. However, that has completely changed in this generation. Problems I have with the new SP 6: 1. The old pro 4 typecover is not compatible with the new pro 6. It will disconnect after wake up and never reconnect without detach and reattaching 2. The pro 6 doesn't work well with its own typecover (from the bundle)! . The pro 6 will disconnect the keyboard after a few seconds (yes, in seconds..) of idle, and the worse part, it takes 2 seconds to reconnect back to the type cover. If I have been using the touch screen and try to type something again, I have to touch a key or the track pad on the cover and wait 2 second before I can get back to work. It's simply very counterproductive and annoying to use. Now I am just using it as a casual tablet and stay away from the type cover. There is nothing PRO about the SP 6, so it is seriously over priced and not worth the money unless there is a very deep discount.
