This review is for the Matte Black variant. I honestly do not think that Microsoft is putting these things through any kind of quality control whatsoever. My unit came out of the box with multiple 'unpainted' spots on the front of the body. It's as if these things are being assembled by bunch of toddlers with a fork and a knife - which seems to be pretty much the usual with these units. You're either incredibly lucky and get one that comes out of the box looking like new, or you end up with one that looks like it's been put through the ringer. Honestly, save your money and go with a Macbook or something. At least with Apple, you're more likely to get end up with a product that went through even the slightest bit of QA. Now I get to enjoy bring this junk back to a Best Buy - a waste of time and money.

I like the slim look the only problem I’m running into is that it freezes a lot.

I have had surface products for many years. This does not operate at the level of other models. The system frequently freezes. It shows the blue screen sad face on starting often. Have trouble just starting the surface, even after pressing start button for 20 seconds. I brought it in to geek shop at best buy two weeks after I made the purchase. It helped reduce the number of incidents, but still these problems persist. Very disappointed

Purchased the Surface Pro 7 in September, 2020 and it was dead right out of the box. The computer would not boot. Best Buy exchanged the computer and two days later it arrived at my house. Two months later, the computer will not turn on again.

Do not buy if you are doing things like gaming or streaming (ex. Twitch) and using software like Streamlabs or OBS. It can't handle very much. Get an actual PC. Audio settings keep screwing up. Can't change between different audio outlets as needed. No audio through headphones. Plugging in new devices makes this thing have a seizure. I have to constantly reboot this tablet just to get it to work in a bare minimum status.

As I was setting it up and downloading updates, the laptop got extremely hot, then froze completely. Took it back.

Slow!!! Very slow. I do not recommend buying this. It is out of date and needs an update with modern hardware. Screen is too small too

The first surface pro 7 I got repeatedly shut down, reset, or froze while using it starting on the day I opened the package. I read online that other users had the same issue and just exchanged their unit at best buy for another one. I exchanged and got another surface pro. Same issues. I went online and did all the rebooting and reinstalling of Windows and drivers as instructed. This did not help. Do not waste your time buying this product. Terrible.

I'm a college student and buying this computer was a big investment. So unsurprisingly, I ended up wasting my money. The screen gets unbelievingly hot. And I keep getting the blue screen of death while doing the most basic of tasks. I'm honestly done with this computer. I'm even angrier with the fact that that the trade-in value is around $300 when I paid over $1000 for it! THIS IS RIDICULOUS! DONT BUY IT!

Completely dead before I even had it 4 months. It was working okay, I walked away for an hour and when I came back it was dead as a doornail and would not turn on. So they are going to send me a REFURBISHED replacement as my only option. No way I can turn it on to delete all my personal data on it. Not happy.

Terrible product because of the fan. It quickly overheats

It doesn't work !!! Geek squad online blew me off. HUGEEEE Inconvenience!! Have to find a store to take it into It's never worked, nor have I been able to set it up! Lesson Learned.... I will NEVER buy an open box item from Best buy Again!!

Awful! The first one stopped working and we were able to return it. The second on stopped working just after the return period expired. We are very unhappy with this product.

Donot buy the battery life is pathetic. I barely get more than 3-4 hours of battery. Plus it gets scratched very easily. My three old macbook pro performs way better than this

Excellent product. Still using the one I purchased and it is not slowing down. I use it as a teacher so I have a bunch of tabs open along with the office suit.

This works horribly over citrix. The display settings dont act right. The machine lags greatly. So not a light weight option for travel and work…

I bought this laptop, MS surface pro 7 with intel i 7. I didn't expect that we all had to go through COVID and stay home and work. This laptop helped me a lot. It worked great during peak COVID time as I did all my work (teaching job) from home. I had luckily bought a stylus with it and that helped working on the zoom and Microsoft whiteboards. So far it is working well. Sometimes its keyboard cover gives me trouble. When I touch on its mouse pad area, it makes my cursor stuck but overall it worked well.

I feel compelled to write a review on this as I've spent 6 months trying to find the perfect tablet experience for my personal and business needs. I'm in the military (admin type position) and am a student on the side. Between my job, meetings, school, note taking and travel I need something that is extremely portable, powerful, solid battery life and app optimization. Originally I settled on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S7. I was split between the Surface, the iPad Pro and this model. Due to Samsung's affordability I decided to go with their tablet. HUGE MISTAKE. After 3 months I decided to go and pull the trigger on the Surface Pro 7 instead and WOW am I glad I did! The Surface Pro 7 is the perfect tablet form experience. The thing is super light and super portable. I take this thing with me everywhere whether I'm at work and want to pull up my personal calendar/email or to take notes in a meeting, the Surface Pro 7 is exceptional in these areas. The Microsoft Office app optimization is INCREDIBLE! Even though iOS and Android have Office suite apps, they are nothing compared to the Windows experience. I use Microsoft OneNote extensively and it works perfectly on this tablet. The battery life is great as well. If I am just web surfing and playing around is Office apps, I can easily take this thing over a weekend without needing the charger. If I'm traveling for the entire day this thing does fine as a streaming device or light gaming. It gets me thru wherever I need to go. Gaming on this thing is awesome! I can install Steam, Blizzard, Epic and GoG game clients and install pretty much any decent game I want. I'm not big on the new PC games so playing Age of Empires 2 or Starcraft 2 on this thing does me just fine! I have even played Classic WoW on it with the graphics turned down. Keep in mind, this thing is not a gaming powerhouse but having this much gaming functionality in a tablet is INCREDIBLE. The Surface Pen works incredibly well. The gestures are easy to use and the recognition is spot on. The only reason I'm giving this thing 4 stars is for two reasons: The first is the backing on it is extremely easy to scratch. Just sitting the thing down and picking it up can leave scratch marks on the metal.. So if you are planning on buying it, get a cover ASAP! The covers they do sell aren't the best. The kick stand is great on the Surface but it makes it slightly difficult to find a form fitting case for it. The other reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is the lack of XCloud gaming application for Windows.. Come on, Microsoft... You own Xbox and have a fully functional app on Android but not on on your native Windows platform? Please give me a reason to sell my Samsung S7 so that I can cloud game on my Surface Pro using my Xbox controller! I'm dying for this feature the moment I get it, I'll bump this review up to a 5 star! If you are looking for an excellent tablet that has it all you need the Surface Pro 7. You will not regret it!
