The screen flickers when the computer gets really hot. The computer freezes and has screen glitches! Don’t be fooled by the pretty design.

still works pretty good to this day. Bought it during the pandemic for school and is still my main computer for anywhere I go. The accessories are very nice too. Such as the arc mouse, number pad, pen, and keyboard that detaches. Also good for games when I need to take a break. Overall, my surface pro delivers to this day.

Okay all joking aside. I have over 20+ years in IT and have used many different laptops from Macbooks to outdated thinkpads. I have been using a 2019 macbook pro for the past year and thought I was in love. Then I found this. Perfect for travel, powerful to run all the software I have ever needed. Only dislike is there is not more usb-c outputs on it and it comes with Windows 10 home. For the price you would think they would throw Windows Pro on it.

For the size and mobility this thing is a powerhouse. I love that I can easily switch to tablet mode and still have the power of 16gb of RAM with the 10th gen i7. The pen capabilities make this worth it to me. Remember when you buy a laptop it is all about what you will be using it for.

A superb computer if you have tons of money

    Posted .

I absolutely love this computer. It is a very well thought out and designed product that fits all of my needs with the exception of one huge need - Microsoft Office. Seriously? I paid $1,300 for the tablet, $136 for the keyboard, $60 for the Arc mouse, and $80 for the Surface Pen that arrived with a dead battery. Now I have to pay to add Microsoft Office? This computer is turning out to be a huge money drain. To top it all off, Office 365 Home and Business costs $250 for one time but does not include Publisher or Skype and several other business applications. For the complete package you have to pay $9.99 per month, which will exceed $250 in 26 months. I hate to be nickel and dimed to death and Microsoft excels at this apparently. It's too bad that I did not realize this until after I made my purchase. Do your homework before buying because there are other computers out there that include Office and peripherals for less money.

This device is no longer the latest surface pro as the title says. Best buy needs to keep up with model changes so as not to mislead less techie customers.

    Microsoft Won't Stand By Warranty

As a life long Microsoft customer, I was excited to purchase my Surface Pro 7. I had an earlier model through work a few years ago and loved it. Unfortunately, the device Microsoft put in the box I purchased was a lemon. The on-board speakers didn't work from day one. I tried to resolve the situation through Microsoft and they told me they wouldn't replace my new device until that I went through a bunch of trouble shooting hoops. After I went through the all of the steps, they informed me that it was too late to replace the new Surface I had purchased with a new Surface, they would only give me a refurbished one. This was an entirely unsatisfactory answer. In subsequent calls to MS, I was told that if I could only get a new replacement if I had filed the claim within 60 days, which I had (but they ran out the clock by forcing me to do a bunch of diagnostics and giving me directions for other models and devices). Now that it was beyond 60 days, it was too late there was nothing they could do. Unless you want to pay full price for a refurbished device or worse yet a computer that never works, pick something else.

    Poorly made charging system

This is the second surface pro I returned for the same reason. Will not charge even after replacing AC charger. This problem occurred during the Corona virus outbreak when my daughter was at college. They replaced the charger but the issue returned. Microsoft closed there stores and my daughters college closed with online classes only. I tried to contact Microsoft after my daughter came home but they would not cover the surface pro which cost over $1500.00. I ended up buying another replacement for $500.00 and it worked ok for 2 weeks but started doing the same thing again. I've now spent over $2000.00 in the last 12 months and have nothing that works.

    Bad within 2 months

Given how fast technology moves today, I tend to go through a very thorough vetting process before I purchase anything electronic. After weeks of research I decide to give the Microsoft Surface a try. Made the purchase in mid-December, really started using it for work in January and on 2/17/20 the computer decides to turn off by itself and not turn on again. Took it in to have it looked at, turns out to be a faulty hard-drive. Options were to send it into Microsoft to have them try to resolve the issue, but more than likely they would just replace the unit (3+ weeks); replace the unit with another Surface; or exchange for a different computer all together given it was within 2 months of the original purchase. Decided to go back to a brand I have had much better luck with in the past. Unfortunately, given the unresponsiveness of the surface, we were unable to retrieve anything from the hardrive. Now I have to recreate 1 1/2 months worth of work, but this time I will be sure to back up everything monthly if not weekly.

    Battery Problems

We bought the this tablet brand new and it had to be shipped to us. Once we opened it the battery would not charge, even if we tried a different charger. Returned and had them ship us a new one, a few weeks later the second one had the same exact issue!!! Battery would not charge. Finally just got our money back not wasting $1,000 on a brand new item that’s battery won’t last more than a year (if that).

Absolutely the worst computer I have ever owned. Less than 1 year old and it will shut down and restart randomly. Yesterday 6 times while I was working remotely tied into my office computer from home. Very frustrating. Be warned you may be one of the unlucky ones like me
