It runs smoothly and shows promise to survive over time. Since I prefer windows, it was suggested to get a Microsoft since it is their software and their laptops are made for windows. This could not be more true. The surface is far more efficient with its softwares

I purchased a rugged case for it with a shoulder strap. I had one incident where the strap's tie must not have been fully snapped-in. I was carrying it and one end detached and my keyboard landed on ground; unharmed. There is a litte rubber security thingy to help keep the keyboard snug against the screen while carrying. Be sure to use it all times.
