Would not recommend
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s been around one and half year since buying this, and it’s not going great. It was working pretty good in the beginning but over time the pencil writing started to lag when writing on the screen, which is one of the big reasons I had bought it. And the keyboard sometime doesn’t connect to the laptop, so I’d have to resort to typing on screen which is really not ideal when writing essays or papers for school. I was honestly hoping this would last me at least through undergrad but I don’t think I would recommend for the price point.

Great but......
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am really compelled to give a one star review, but it is a great device.... unless. I need to be able to VPN to our server remotely. Unfortunately, this processor is not compatible with a bunch of common apps. That is terrible. Who thinks something at this price point can make it without being compatible with common apps??? I would recommend if you are buying this for business to choose something else. At this price point, with add ons, it should work with anything. Really disappointing. Everything else is great. Microsoft should be better. They should also not rob you for a keyboard and a pencil (Apple does the same).

ARM processor doesn't play well with printers
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I owned a Surface Pro 4 for 9 years and while I had some issues with it from time to time, not being a tech-oriented person, as I have my Best Buy membership, I had Geek Squad assistance when necessary - so it all worked out well. When I was shopping for a replacement, I was never advised that the newest Surface Pro's ARM processor causes a major issue when it comes to compatibility with other devices (in my case, printers - and not just mine, as I discovered upon deep research). I bought a Canon PIXMA TS-6420a printer/scanner and, to make a weeks-long story short, nothing that anyone could do will make it scan - and only by the sheer luck of getting someone at Canon's support who persisted and came up with a workaround am I able to print. After numerous Geek Squad sessions, two wasted trips to see them in person, untold days of research, help from a tech expert in my family, and so much frustration that no one - neither Microsoft nor Best Buy - advises customers of this compatibility issue, I called Microsoft Surface support, only to be told the same thing that store Geek Squad staff said.. "Get a different laptop!" Even Microsoft can't guarantee that any particular printer will be compatible with this device. So unless you are really comfortable messing around with your laptop's tech and/or don't need to connect your laptop to any other devices, my advice is to purchase something else with an Intel processor. Yes, this is a nice laptop otherwise, but I've been to you-know-where and back and still can't scan - so I have only half of the functionality of my printer/scanner. At this point, I'm so discouraged and disappointed with the lack of advice I received when shopping online, with the conflicting information I did receive post-purchase, and with Microsoft's refusal to forewarn the public and/or find a way to fix this issue that I no longer trust anything I read or hear with regard to tech and don't even have the energy to look for something else.

Returned Due to Incompatibility, Keyboard, & Cost
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great screen and audio, but ultimately returned. For the price, some flaws caused me to return it: 1) the pen storage keyboard (separate item) covered the bottom of the screen affecting Excel and some things at the bottom of the taskbar; 2) the Snapdragon Elite caused some temporary delays/locking in some apps running in compatibility (especially Adobe Acrobat with graphic pages). Battery life wasn't quite what was claimed. Got a Zenbook 14 OLED instead for less and without the issues.

Ok, but dont upgrade the SSD to a WD one.
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this tablet because it was the more affordable of the snapdragon x elite models. I knew I would need a new SSD for what I planned to do with it. Microsoft has made it super easy to access your SSD so you can upgrade it. you would think by doing that they would make sure that the tablet was able to run any major brand SSD which is not the case. I got a WD 2TB at the store while I got the tablet. Once installed I had constant shut downs at random times, blue screens, and other issues. I would not call myself a professional with PC repair but im also not novice either I build my own PCs and never had issues. As it turns out Microsoft tablets cant accept the higher end WD 2TB SSDs because they use too much power. I tried changing settings and fixing that issue that way but it did not matter the issue was still there. I tried as much research as I could and basically the only answer was to use another brand SSD. I ended up selling the tablet with the original 512gb ssd back in it to a friend. You would think a company as large as Microsoft would assure their computer would accept any major brand SSD without issue. If these no name off brand computers and tablets, and even my Rog Ally can run them just fine this should. I do not recommend if you are planning on upgrading. pro side of things, the screen is amazing on these things and the Snapdragon x elite did a great job running adobe programs and affinity programs without issue. I used Davinci resolve as well but just briefly because of the issues I had

Do your homework before buying
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, great build, second, Windows ARM not ready for primetime. I did not do my homework, FileZilla and Gmail/Outlook sync DO NOT INSTALL. I was able to get WinSCP and yes I can use Gmail web interface. However, the real deal breaker was Forticlient VPN does not install. Without VPN access it's nothing but a brick. Microsoft should have worked better with App developers to get a native ARM app before the big push. AI? More like Another Incomplete operating system. BTW good luck getting external device drivers.

Unreliable
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really wanted to like this computer... It's feature-rich and fun. But it's not got the most basic thing a laptop needs: reliability. Sometimes the charger works. Sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the pro keyboard charges. Sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes it just wakes up when you hit the power button like a regular tablet. Sometimes you'll just be staring at the windows logo for 30+ seconds waiting for it to boot up again like you fully turned it off or something instead of just shutting the lid. Generally, startup times are rough, the longest I've seen in many years. Even in the 3 minutes of typing this, the screen flashed black and now is a warm light tint instead of white. It has very long startup times. Software misbehaves with ARM. I never got VLC for Arm to work, and VLC for Intel run with compatibility emulation doesn't work quite right. Super basic stuff here. Haven't gotten my external drive I've been using for years to consistently connect to the USB-c port with a hub (and there's no USB-A port). Haven't gotten Windows network drives to behave consistently. And copilot is a marketing gimmick. Very untrustworthy and generally annoying. One of my first interactions with it was just asking "what day of the week is the 20th?", to which it responded with a random day which was not correct for this month, the next month, or the previous month. Instead of being concise and correct, it's fluffed with dialogue-like words asking you how you're doing and things (weird) and gives inaccurate data. MS Paint AI is a gimmick too. Fun for 30 seconds and then when you actually need something from it, it's just not good enough. If it just worked right, it'd be 5 starts, maybe 4 since AI is still just a gimmick at this point.

Go with an Android Tablet instead
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not suitable for travel entertainment. Due to Microsoft conflicts with other parties, no video downloads are possible to watch during long flights. The $200+ Flex Keyboard only works with the Surface and nothing else. I tried to install Android, and the Surface could not even recognize the bootable USB Drive.

Good for personal not for business.
||Posted . Dont buy if you want to use for anything business. They really should have still kept an option for intel processors.

Windows is weird

Disappointing for this day and age
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Windows on ARM has been nothing short of a buggy nightmare. Having to restart the PC insanely frequently just to stop background processes, or lag is very annoying. Despite having 16gb of ram, it is very hard to run any games outside of ones you can run on your phone. Copilot and essential business applications are locked behind a Microsoft 365 subscription… AFTER you’ve bought your $1,700 laptop.

Review of the Microsoft Surface Pro
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this and the next day returned it. The touch screen did not perform well, the installation requirements to operate it for my intended purpose was taking way too long and required reaching out to Microsoft before we realized it was malfunctioning. I like the idea of this tablet. It's just not there yet.

ARM processor compatibility problems
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The trouble immediately started when I connected my Canon multi-function printer. While there's a Windows 11 driver the will send print jobs, none of the scanning software is compatible. So I can't use the Canon scanning features that let me adjust settings. I want to create multipage PDFs and edit them, like I've done on my old AMD x86 laptop. Very disappointing that something should be so standard is such a problem. Otherwise, great machine to work on!
