    Not Motorola item

Arris just told me via phone support (dealing with the SB6141), that this Motorola MB7220 is made by ZOOM, not Motorola. "all the 'MB models are ZOOM" Arrus told name they work with Motorola and ZOOM, but product information would need to be delt by ZOOM and asked if I wanted ZOOM's phone number. I would buy ZOOM, not an item that says Motorola but is a ZOOM. IF possible. Perhaps microcenter would sell it. ZOOM modems were good so maybe this would be good, but asking ARRIS and they said this Motorola is a ZOOM...meh. not interested.

Not approved by Comcast XFINITY despite labeling

As this time today (2/7/2016), this product is not an "approved" owner-classified modem by Comcast XFINITY in the Nashville TN area, despite the box itself saying it is certified and the XFINITY branding present on the box. Avoid this product if you have comcast XFINITY until you confirm that it is approved for use an an owner (not rented) type of modem. This will save you much hassle.

Best Buy Great - Motorola MB7220 NOT

This modem SMELLS to high heavens. It's the burning electronics stink you've probably experienced yourself from time to time with cheapo electronics. Did NOT expect that from Motorola - even from a low-end Motorola device like this one. Got it for new cable internet service. Opened the box, plugged it in while new cable service was being installed and noticed the stench right away. Used it for one day with hopes the stink would go away, or at least lessen. NOT the case. Upon experiencing the burning stink problem, I looked into it further and found that others have experienced this very same issue. So, back it goes. Kudos to Best Buy for prompt delivery and fair return policy, but this MB7220 stinks (literally).

    No Phone Outlet

I needed a modem to replace the rented unit from Time/Warner and Warner techs even recommended Motorola. My $10 a month rental includes a necessary phone outlet, so I guess I assumed these damned things all came with that basic feature. Well, they don't! I have not found any of the Motorola modems you offer that include a simple phone outlet. Since cell service is almost non-existent in the immediate area where I spend most of my time, I need the land-line, badly. I bought this model MB7220, but found to my surprise there was no phone outlet only once I examined the back of the unit. I've wasted my time and shall have to return it at my cost. I am a disabled senior on Social Security and wasting money is painful. I reside in a seniors only complex and passed on this disappointment with Best Buy for not including a photo of the business side of this and other units so we might notice there is no phone outlet before we buy (you assume we know what your saying when speaking in computer gibberish, so photos help), and disappointed with Motorola for failing to include such a basic feature. Most other seniors are struggling to cut costs, so I felt it necessary to warn them to look elsewhere if they wish to have phone service as well as be able to use the internet and watch TV.
