If this thing last 6 more months, it would be worth every penny we spent. I have twins and a very large mastiff dog and between the crumbs, dog hair and dust I just couldn't keep up. I really wanted the roomba 880 and almost waited in line at Best Buy on Black Friday for it. But my husband told me we should wait and make sure that's what we want. After much research on his part we went for the neato connected and purchased off Amazon. Here's why I'm so glad we didn't buy the roomba like my friends and family did. First and obvious. This one is comparable to the roomba 980 but closer to the 880 price. Two. It's just a joy to watch how smart this thing is. It maps out a room beautifully, and in our house does the area rugs in the middle of the room last and leaves great "mowing" lines in them. Three. It maneauvers around furniture mostly without bumping into them. It does have the occasional BUMP but nothing too bad. Four. My floors are cleaner than they've ever been. I just mopped,and for the first time wasn't seeing dust bunnies and hair that floated around that I missed. I know roomba is great for this too. Five. I love when my kids leave an abandoned sock on the floor it gets on, it sends me a message to let me know. And also the "I'm finished cleaning" message. Hearts :) After day one it did get a little weird and got lost in my bedroom once and never made it back to the dock but has since redeemed it self and has made it back every time. Can't tell you how much I love this thing. If you are on the fence JUMP and get this amazing little machine!

I was a bit of a skeptic but I am now a believer. This vacuum is awesome! It has great suction and is getting dust, etc. out of the carpet that my other super expensive vacuum hasn't gotten. It does a great job navigating around everything, even chairs and gets under chairs and under our beds! I have been watching it get where our housekeepers haven't even tried. Found cocoa puffs in the filter when I cleaned it out, we haven't had cocoa puffs for months so apparently they were hidden and Mr. Roboto found them and took care of them for us. Positive: It gets around the edges of the walls wonderfully, as I mentioned under chairs, tables and beds that it can fit under. The floor looks and feel clean. Goes seamlessly from our travertine to our carpet. If it gets stuck it figures out how to get un-stuck. It can lift itself over area rugs and vacuums them beautifully. Will 'talk' to you when it needs help like cleaning the filter out or getting something out of the brush. Love being able to start both of the Botvacs (one for upstairs and one for downstairs) remotely with the app. We are very happy with Mr. & Mrs. Roboto (our names for them). Negative: I had to trim the edges of the berber better because it caught a string of it. Started swallowing up my son's Lego Star Wars collection he has on the floor as it didn't recognize the Storm Troopers that it decapitated as something it wasn't supposed to vacuum, so we will now need to move it them a table. Trying to figure the app out better and had to reset it once before it hooked up to my phone.

Neato Robotics Botvac did not operate as described. The App was very confusing to use and wouldn't always stay connected to WiFi while in use. I ended up returning.

Unfortunately, I've had 2 of these and the navigation on both of them has stopped working. Thankfully I purchased the protection plan on the last one - I will be taking it back to Best Buy.

I tend to do a lot of research before I make a purchase of this expense. I chose the Neato because of the reviews I read about its power, ability to pick up pet hair, and its process of vacuuming in a logical pattern as opposed to a random pattern that other brands use. Let me tell you, I bought this about a month ago and it is better than I thought it would be. Our Neato picks up the dog hair like a champ, works on hard floors and carpet very well, gets right up against the walls, is able to manipulate its height and angle to get unstuck, gives me a map of where it vacuumed after it is done, and my favorite-follows a logical pattern, being sure to get around the perimeter of the room and then parallel paths to complete the room. Neato leaves vacuum lines in the carpet that look like a traditional vacuum did the job. The ability to run this thing from your phone, as well as see the maps, and battery life from the app are all very cool features, but even without those, this thing is awesome. Stop looking, this is the one.

We've had a robot for years. When ours gave out, we purchased this one. It was broken and had to be returned. Unsure if it was a lemon or the wifi contributed to the problem.

Already had to return it, I would not recommend this to anyone. Replaced it with a Shark and have been extremely happy.

This hasn’t even lasted for one year, and already it won’t run. It shouldn’t be this complicated. I have a Uefy That is cheaper and much better

I went out on a limb and got this as a Christmas gift. How Ralph Kramden of me. But, it worked out better than I hoped. Of all the gifts she received, this was her favorite. That alone earned this thing 5 stars. The features of this thing are perfect for us. The main floor is too large for any of these robotic vacuums to finish on one charge. It's ability to recharge itself and restart where it left off is brilliant. Only a couple of times it failed to re-dock itself (I blame user error and poor placement of the charging station). The smartphone app works and shows where it's completed cleaning; it's starting to see our floor plan mapped out very precisely based on Neato's paths. And it's smart enough to tell us what its current problem is, such as getting stuck in tight spots (some prep work is required), something jamming the brush, needs a recharge, or its dust bin is full. No guess work required! Its performance is great - we're always amazed by how much stuff this thing sucks up. We have all hardwood floors with area rugs in each room. It handles both types quite well. Even though it's not HEPA grade, we don't notice any dust being tossed about. And the floors actually look clean. If I had to reach for any negatives, then it's a bit noisy - but what vacuum isn't? I'd say 1 out of every 4 runs, it'll need assistance. But that was expected. Something probably every robot vac will need. The only feature I'd say it's missing is the ability to program no-go zones. It has magnetic tape to designate those areas, but who wants to have those lying around the house? I read upcoming models will have the ability to program those using the smartphone app. Maybe for a future Christmas gift? Anyway, between this and comparable makes/models I've researched, this particular one had the most bang for the buck (though I did get it on sale). And after about 4 months of use, it's been a good investment as it does the job well with just minor problems.

I did an online comparison of this product against the iRobot Roomba before buying. I found that the iRobot product would bounce around without much direction however this unit seems to clean in a more organized manner. I see that the newer high end iRobot units now clean a lot better. This unit works really well. I have used it about 20 times since buying it. It does clean nicely and seldom needs help getting unstuck. While it does not entirely remove the need to use a traditional vacuum cleaner, it does reduce the frequency as the carpets are kept quite clean. Currently I do a normal vacuum once a month since I bought this vacuum.

Neato Botvac Connected Review: Can I start with saying that I LOVE this vacuum?!?!? Pros: Can be run from a wireless device (phone, tablet); it has come in handy on many occasions to start the device while I’m out running errands and have it finished before I get home; he even sends me a notification to let me know when he’s done – so considerate. I love that it runs on a schedule too – running it consistently has reduced household allergies among me and my pets. It does s good job at picking up dust (I’m always surprised how full the bin is). The flat front edge allows it get into corners and up against baseboards where the Roomba fails. Cons: It will require a bit of time to get on your network and the app on your phone, but it really is a simple process to follow and their support has been spectacular. You will need to Bot Proof your home – hide cords, set up boundary markets etc. It took a couple runs of the bot to see where he got stuck or had issues but with the use of boundary markets and picking my cell phone charger up off the ground we have been problem free for several runs! I highly recommend the Neato Botvac Connected – it’s one less thing for me to worry about and is a wonderful feeling to come home to a freshly vacuumed house.

Cleans well. We have hardwood and area rugs for flooring, this vac works great on both. It needs to recharge once to complete the 2500 sq ft. first floor. It seems to get the job done faster the more it runs(learning from the maps?). Only reason not a 5 star is I need to use it on another level and that really screws up the mapping system. When I bring it back to main level it bumps into everything excessively and cant find the base to recharge. Basically its lost. I had to reboot it so It could start all over again. It was actually bumping into the wall on the first floor exactly above where I had the base when I used it in the lower level.30 feet away from where the base is kept on the first floor. If anyone has a solution for using it on 2 levels please leave me a comment.

I throughly researched different robot vacuums before I bought this unit. The reason for purchasing this over the Roomba 980 was superior room navigation and pet hair removal. My experiences have been very positive. The unit cleans our main floor mostly consisting of hardwood and the occasional rug. It sends you a summary of the rooms it cleans which is helpful. It doesn't get stuck very often and usually finds its way back to the charging station. I have read through numerous reviews that Neato does not have the greatest customer service. With that in mind I went ahead and purchased a 4 year protection plan through Best Buy. It was cheaper than a three year plan through Square Trade. Ultimately, whether you buy a Neato or Roomba I highly recommend getting an extended warranty. These units take a lot of wear and tear.

Out of the box this unit had an old version of the firmware so that needed to be updated. It requires a USB memory stick so if you don't have one you'll have to get one. Without the new firmware the unit could not find its docking station for recharge. I still had problems and Neato tech support suggested I run it several times with the door shut in the cradle room so it could learn where it was. When I opened the door and let it out it got stuck out in the family room doing circles. I turned it off, picked it up and took it back to its' cradle for recharge. The next time it ran it did complete the entire house. It ran several more times before I noticed the side brush that flings the dirt from the wall into it's suction brushes was missing. When I contacted their tech support to get a replacement piece that wanted a photo of the receipt and proof of purchase. Since I bought it a Best Buy I just took it back. I was going to get a second one but I decided to get the Samsung SR2AJ9250W. That was a bust (read my review there if you like). This unit seemed to pick up more dirt and cat hair than the Samsung and was able to be fully left on its' own to complete the job (recharging and resuming). It sends you a great map of it's completed cycles but the one feature it doesn't have it the capability to allow you to designate specific rooms on the map and clean only those areas. For the kind of money I am spending I think I will wait until that feature can be incorporated into the unit. Also the side brush is held on magnetically so it can be jarred off way too easy. If you have computer tech skills you may like this Botvac. If you don't you may have troubles.

I will start this review by saying I ONLY did not return this product because I got it for nearly 50% off. To be so expensive, this vacuum lacks in a couple areas I would demand more from it if I had paid full retail: 1. Using this "robot" oddly still requires a level of human involvement that often has me wondering if I'd rather just use the regular vaccuum. This includes the relative smallness of the dirt bin which leads me to occasionally have to empty it mid cycle. Did I mention that there's no push notification for the dirt bin being full, so unless you're paying attention to this supposedly automated robot, it will run a whole cycle potentially without picking up a thing. it can occasionally get caught on stuff and need human intervention to free it, but if you keep your floors clean these instances are actually pretty rare. Still, I have to prep my floors to run a vacuum when I could just use the manual one. 2. It is NOT a full vacuum replacement. You WILL still need to have an active role in maintaining your floors. Accept this before you buy it and you'll be much better off. It IS very thorough though and I would say it covers about 85% of my floors and picks up about 80% of the dirt in those spaces. I only use my standard vaccuum now if I want to hit a quick spot or have a spill or before mopping. Now to the part where this thing completely changed my life. If you have dogs, buy this. No seriously....buy it. I was at my wits end trying to deal with my dogs' fur having to vacuum 2, 3 times a day. It is EXCELLENT on pet hair and I kept it for that reason alone. I have 2 labs in an APARTMENT and my house shows no sign of dog.. The end. I wish I could give 3.5 stars because this still feels like a MIT robotics passion project rather than a commercial solution. Should get better with future iterations.

We got “Hazel” for Christmas, so we’ve had her for about a week. So far we have been very impressed. For the first few runs we caught ourselves following her around in amazement at her navigation skills. It’s almost addictive watching the vac run. We had to make a few adjustments to her surroundings after the initial pass. ie, I had to place a few rubber furniture protectors under the legs of our two couches to give Hazel just a tad more clearance to run under them un-obstructed. So far we have only used her in turbo mode - which does a great job cleaning, but battery life is not so great. A little over an hour at a time. But Hazel returns to her dock charges up and picks up cleaning right where she left off. We are going to try the eco-mode next week. She picks up pretty much everything except all the glitter from Christmas decorations. But my Dyson won’t do that either! She has only gotten stuck a couple of times, but she sent me a message and I found where she was on the map on the app and gave her a little help and she was back to work. I love the methodical way she completes an area before going somewhere else. And I know this is just a bell and whistle, but I love the analytics - the coverage map, square footage cleaned and run-time. Not sure, but it seems that she is learning and is becoming more efficient with each cleaning. My son even tried out the manual mode today. Not quite as smooth as a video game, but good enough for a spot cleaning. She’s not perfect, she got a little confused and went over the same bathroom twice the other day and has gotten stuck in a tight spot once or twice, but overall we are very pleased. While Hazel is cleaning the floors we can be taking care of other chores or just relaxing. Well done Neato. Mark

I don't know what I did before our little BotVac. We have a big black lab that sheds constantly. We have hardwood floors throughout the main floor of our house. We have a rug with tassels in our living room and every once in a while it gets stuck on that but it eventually moves past it. We also need to maybe use an adhesive on that to help keep it down. It doesn't get stuck on the tassels ever, which I was worried about. We are going to have it run everyday. I chose to have it run while we are home just because sometimes we forget to pick something up off the floor that it could get stuck on. I'm not bothered by it when I'm home. It picks up EVERY speck of dirt and hair on our floors! I would recommend it to anyone with a pet.

We have 2 Botvac Connected units. They are AMAZING!!!! Company support and app are equally awesome! We have 2 dogs and kids...I can't believe how much dirt, hair & cheerios these pick up every single day. I'm purchasing their new D7 that just came out simply because we have 3 floors, so now I will have a dedicated Botvac per floor. Thank you Neato for making an OUTSTANDING product that I can't imagine living without!
