No quality control, service not helpful.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We really had high hopes for the Neato after watching many pro reviews online. I purchased this vac yesterday and within three hours was purchasing a Roomba. First for the Neato, it would not connect to the app or broadcast it's temp SSID. I tried on my Android, my wife's iPhone, and her iPad. I spend an hour on chat with support only to be walked through the troubleshooting steps that are already online and eventually telling me I would need to wait until they could discuss my case with a wireless engineer. I told them forget it, I was taking it back for a Roomba. That wasn't the only issue. 20 mins into the first clean, something starts making a grinding sound like something is caught underneath and it is dragging it across the floor. I check for obstructions, empty the bin, and it's still there -- never went away. The Neato jammed on the are rug fringe and quit. It also got stuck between the legs of a tripod lamp for 5 minutes. The Roomba has had no issues with either area. We bought this so it can run while we are out. If the Neato need constant supervision, then what is the point? I am generously giving it 2 stars because where it did clean, it cleaned pretty well, but there are way too many issues to confidently believe it can carry out that task successfully over an entire cycle.

Does as advertised

Best robot VAC
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start off by saying I never leave reviews on any of the products I buy. But after buying and returning to many of these robot vacuums this one deserves a review. I started off with the Roomba 980 I have 2 dogs so i figured the "carpet boost" was worth the extra money. It's not the robot runs pretty good but ithe CANNOT navigate in the dark. I have dark hardwood floors, with that and the blinds closed mid day the roomba would not work. For a vacuum that is $899 not worth it. So then I went with the Samsung powerbot 350 also $899. That thing is absolute junk. If you have dark carpet or area rugs it CANNOT navigate on them. It will literally sit there and Spin until the batteries run out. The battery only lasts 30 minutes in turbo mode, which by the time it figures out where it's at it will need to be recharged. So now I have the Neato Botvac Connected this thing is a beast! It goes over 1-2 inch transitions like nothing! (Which the other two struggle with even got stuck) it sucks up more dog hair then the other then the other two. The app is user friendly and is worth the extra money. I could not be happier with this vacuum. The dust bin is FULL everyday! Great investment!! Stay away from the Samsung powerbot!!

Tims saver!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ive owned many Roomba vacuums in previous years but this neato is the best thus far. Very easy to set up and get connected. The neato has an amazing algorithm for complete floor coverage without wasting time or battery consumption bouncing around. The app is very simply designed and works well. I would highly recommend this product.

great for pet hair
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.pros - Cleans up cat hair on our tile, 800sqft in an hour Easy to clean filter Goes on sale for good price set up to go automatically great job for the vacuum - really amazing how powerful it is and all the debris it picks up cons gets stuck on everything at first, but learns the house and does better after a while never goes back to charging dock, ever.. goes right next to it, wont go on it charging dock is a poor design - needs to be at an exact spot to charge

Superior To Roomba 980 - No Contest
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, a disclaimer and a bit of history. We just received our Neato BotVac Connected yesterday, and Hazel has completed one complete cleaning of our house. We had purchased a Roomba 980 several weeks ago ($899), and were not impressed at all. It would stop for no reason, couldn’t find its way back to the charging station, couldn’t get up on our small shag area rugs, would clean the same places over and over, and we had to cover the “cliff sensors” so it would clean dark carpets. Also, it wouldn’t clean in areas of low light. We were hoping the unit was defective, so we returned it for another one. We had the same problems with the second unit, and after about 5-6 cleanings, the unit still had not gone into our bedroom. We took the second unit back to Best Buy, and decided to give the Neato unit a try, plus it was on sale for $549. The store was out of stock, so we ordered one. It showed up yesterday after only 48 hours. All I can say is WOW, what a difference! Setup was very easy, the Wi-Fi connected right away, and Hazel was charged and ready to go in about 75 minutes. We used the phone app to start her cleaning, and observed her very closely. She left her docking station, paused to “survey” the room, and began cleaning. She expertly made her way under dining room table and chairs, and was able to get into and out of cramped spaces. She cleaned in a methodical manner, unlike the Roomba which seems to wander all over the place. When she needed a recharge after about 75 minutes (we used the Turbo mode and had the Wi-Fi connected), the vacuum motor went off and she made her way back to the charging station. After about another 75 minutes, she left the docking station again and went right to the spot where she left off cleaning and continued her work. This occurred one more time, and when she was done cleaning she was at the furthest point in our house away from her charging station. She shut off the vacuum motor, and expertly made her way back “home”. According to the app, she cleaned a total of 3 hours and covered 1,556 square feet. We actually had to empty the bin after the second run as she was getting all kinds of dust and pet hair. As we said earlier, we just got Hazel and the jury is still out on battery life, reliability of the unit, Neato support, and overall satisfaction. This review was meant to help you if you are considering what unit to purchase, and describe our real-world experience with both brands!

Love my Neato
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After watching demonstrations of the Rumba and Neato, I chose a Neato. It is much better at systematically cleaning a room, covering every spot. The Rumba just runs around randomly, coving the same spot multiple time waisting the battery. The Neato uses magnetic strips to block off areas you don't want it in. The strips are much easier to store than the Rumba lighthouses.

Needs More Development
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I (also) wanted to like the Neato Botvac Connected (NBC). I previously owned a 1st generation Roomba. BUT, the NBC clearly needs more work before it's ready for the public. 1. The manual is a joke. You'd better like online videos because that's about the only source for real info on the system. It's a very unprofessional (and short) manual. Package comes with a strip of magnetic, rubberized material but there is no explanation of how to use it as an "avoidance barrier" or where the sensors are on the NBC. 2. The Neato support website wouldn't let my iPhone login because it thought cookies are disabled - had to go to a PC. 3. Battery life seemed to be less than 1 hour, but I estimate that cleaning my first floor was a 2 hour job - might've been OK if it could find its way back to its charging base, but it never did. 4. I have a table with a lower shelf at 3.5" above the floor. The main part of the NBC fit under the shelf, but the "sensor pod" didn't, causing many, many retries before killing the battery and giving up. 5. The NBC never did map my first floor fully - seemed happy to just stay in the first half of the house and bump into things. On a positive note, the NBC does a good vacuuming job and picks up dog hair well. Definitely needs more development and "shake-out".

Wonderful Little Worker
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second unit, I returned the first one due to some software issues which caused it to constantly got "stuck" on flat surfaces. No issues with this unit. I have always used a Dyson (Specifically the DC 47 Animal) or my grandmothers Rainbow and they never let me down. That is until I turned the Neato loose in my new apartment. I ran the Dyson today over the bedroom carpet. Thought I got a good amount of stuff out of the carpet. I should probably say that the Neato has ran everyday for about a week and a half. I forgot to stop the Neato from cleaning today seeing as I've already vacuumed the bedroom, it started it's cleaning cycle of just the bedroom since I shut the door when I was done cleaning up in there. I have the unit connected to the app on my phone. It sent me a notification that it was done so I went and checked on him. I checked the dust bin only to find that it was FULL of dust. AFTER just running the Dyson. After I vacuumed every bit of carpet in the room that the Neato normally cleans, including under the bed.

Working well,,
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We are still in the process of getting used to the Neato Botvac Connected. My first impressions have been pretty good. After 20 uses, I am amazed that it still finds dirt, since only two of us live here and we do not wear shoes in the house. I am thinking that it is still doing an indepth cleaning. I also enjoy the ability that the app gives me to remotely turn it on and then to review it's completed cleaning map. It is becoming like one on the family. It is nice to just set it and forget it.

Mixed review
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I tried out the 880 and 980. IMO if you are going to buy an Irobot, get the 980. Yes it costs more bu the algorithm is much better than the 880. It also has carpet boost mode. I also tried the Neato vacuum as well. The Neato vacuums faster but does not clean as thoroughly. My house is 1500 square feet downstairs and roughly the same for the upstairs. The Roomba took close to 9 hours to vacuum the entire 1500 square feet. IMO these are not completely ready for prime time. For me, the vacuums required constant supervision, When I would leave it alone in the house it would get stuck somewhere. One nice feature about the 980 is that it has a pager so, when it is lost somewhere, you can page it which makes it easier to find. Otherwise you have to check under the furniture to try and find it. So, when I was watching the device, it worked great and when it would get stuck I would be able to fix it. IMO, if i have to watch the device, I would rather just vacuum myself. Also, I did a test once with the Roomba. I let it vacuum the upstairs and wait for it to be done. Then 30 minutes later I pulled out my older Dyson upright and vacuumed the same areas. The upright picked up more than the Roomba did. It was not slightly more but definitely noticeable.

Lasts for 4 years
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Botvac was great while it worked. I only used it about once every two-three weeks. The circuit box went out, and both gear boxes (on the right and left wheels) needed to be replaced after 4 years. I opted not to replace because of the repair cost.

Broke Within 2 Weeks - Customer Service No Help
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I rarely feel the need to write reviews, but because my experience has been so negative I've decided to do so now. I purchased this robot vacuum over others in this very competitive marketplace after doing intensive research and seeing that, for the price, this one seemed to be the best bang for my buck. I consider myself technologically fluent and setting up the vacuum was not the best. The vacuum had trouble finding my wifi network but after about 15 minutes I was able to get it to connect. Fairly easy overall but not as simple and straight forward like products from Nest or other home electronic devices I've set up. I bought this vacuum in May of 2018 for the house we were planning on purchasing in July. It stayed in the box, unopened and unadulterated until we moved into the new house in July. After setting up the vacuum, it had difficulty the first couple of cleanings and would get stuck, but after moving it to a better place, it seemed to do a great job of cleaning and didn't get stuck again... that is... for two weeks. Roughly two weeks go by and the vacuum is performing as expected. I'm a bit of a neat freak and cleaned the vacuum and it's brush every week and emptied the bin when the vacuum alerted me. Then, one Saturday when I was out, I set the vacuum to clean. Upon returning, it barely was 3 feet off the dock and said "Clean my brush". So I cleaned it. Same error. After being perplexed and trying to do a hard reset, soft reset, doing a factory reset (twice) I still received the frustrating "Clean my Brush" error. Okay, I did everything I know to do, guess I have to reach out to customer service. I explained my situation to the rep, he walked me through a few more steps and we still had the same error. He explained to me, since it was only in use for two weeks, that Neato would send me a brand new unit and that I would just send my broken one back. This REALLY surprised me, because I thought it was incredible customer service. I wasn't irate, or demanding, but I've had poor customer service in the past, and I truly appreciated Neato proactively sending me a new unit so that my house would stay clean. After all, that's why I bought it, to keep my house clean, and I was excited that Neato cared enough to help with this. This is where my experience takes a turn. I filled out the paperwork that they sent to me to send me a replacement. After a couple of days, I receive an email stating that I am outside of the 45 day warranty for the product and that I'll be required to send my vacuum for repair and they'll either repair it or send it back. While a company offering to repair an item for free still counts as good customer service, this is not what I was told by the rep. Confused, I call back and coincidentally get the same rep on the phone that helped the first time. He explains that the reason he told me that they'd replace the vacuum was because he thought I was in the first 45 days of purchase. I explained that I was transparent on the first call as to when the vacuum was purchased, when I set it up and when it stopped working. I think this policy is ridiculous. What if I purchase a vacuum for a loved one, wait 3 months to give it to them and it breaks within the first day? Neato doesn't care. Your warranty starts from the purchase date. Too bad, so sad. After emailing the manager (I missed his call because it was from a restricted number), he explains that there was absolutely no flexibility on sending me a new vacuum regardless of what the rep had initially told me. Warranties start from purchase date and I can get bent. Sorry not sorry. I will be returning this vacuum to the store I purchased at and NEVER buying another Neato vacuum again. Additionally, when I will go out of my way to recommend ANY other product to anyone I hear discussing these types of products. Mine broke in two weeks. Customer support rep lied to me, management didn't care. If you buy this vacuum despite my diatribe just pray it doesn't brake. With actions like these from customer support, who knows what you'll be in for.

Posted .Thank you for your detailed review on your Botvac Connected, Samuel. We're very sorry to hear about the experience you've had with your robot, it certainly shouldn't be experiencing issues with its brush at such an early stage.
Unfortunately, the return and repair process isn't something that we can bypass following the 45 day mark from the date of purchase, as unfortunately there's no easy way for our Customer Care team to find out the date the robot was first used by you.
If it's not too late already, we're going to have a senior Customer Care agent contact you to discuss your case in more detail so they can understand your frustration better.

Love my NEATO
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great product and it works really well. The only issue that I have is that sometimes it get stuck under the bed, but the magnetic strips take care of that. It actually had a software issue and I contacted the company about the warranty. After troubleshooting, it was determined I needed a replacement. After a couple of emails with the necessary information, I had my replacement.

Much dumber than the Roomba
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this to replace my Roomba 870. The technology of the Neato Connected seemed amazing, far superior to the basic Roomba — boy was I wrong. The Neato Connected CONSTANTLY gets stuck and needs help. Oftentimes it'll bump into a wall or object and cry out that its bumper is stuck. Sometimes it'll try to climb objects, like a floor fan, and get stuck. Other times, it'll just stop for absolutely no reason. We're lucky to get one day a week where the dumb robot can complete it's job without help.
