    Second D5 works great

    OK... I had a Neato XV-21. Navigation was great but it had horrible battery management issues that I swore off Neato. Well I saw the D5 had a high capacity Lithium Ion battery so I went for it and purchased in May of 2017 from BestBuy. It immediately went back to BestBuy after exhibiting defective navigation characteristics! If I hadn't already owned the XV-21 I wouldn't have realized the thing was defective as opposed to being just plain stupid. I took video and the BestBuy associate agreed it was not performing as it should. I'm happy I gave Neato ONE MORE CHANCE. The second unit I've had for nearly a year and it works nearly flawlessly. It is more powerful than the XV-21, holds more debris and is MUCH quieter. I can run it while watching television with no trouble. The improved Lithium Ion battery holds enough juice to clean my spacious downstairs on a single charge. I'll give this one 5 Stars. Been nearly a year and still going strong. Laser navigation allows it to clean at night in the dark which is a big plus! I am told a lot of the camera featured brands do not work in the dark. I do think NEATO should improve their quality control department. I see too many negative reviews for what should be one of the more advanced units on the market.

    ‪@NeatoRobotics your product is absolute garbage. (2) D5 robot vacs, $1,200 - neither work! (3 separate issues). Tech support is a joke. Returning both to Best Buy immediately!‬

    Cheaply made, even with proper maintenance doesn’t last. Troubleshooting this device is such a pain it’s not worth owning.

    Only used it ~25 times, every couple of weeks. It seems to have a design defect with the bin sensor and users are complaining about it.

    We bought this and ran it one day in the house and it wouldn’t connect back to the phone and would return to charging station so we returned it

    This is the fourth robotic vacuum that I've owned and by far has been the best bang for my buck. My previous vacuums have been the Roomba and the shark . I like the way It cleans right next to the wall does not repeat the same pattern over and over bouncing off objects but scans the area and vacuums in swaths not repeating the same swath twice. I like being able to designate zones where I do not wish it to go which keeps it away from computer wires that otherwise would be wrapped up in the vacuum. I have been using this vacuum for a couple of months now and have not had any issues with it whatsoever very pleased with my purchase.

    I purchased this several months ago, so I've got it pretty well figured out by this point. I've got a dog that sheds obscene amounts of fur year long, and a toddler who enjoys seeing what messes she can cause, so the vacuum definitely has to work to keep things clean. And honestly, my house has never been cleaner. The downstairs (where it primarily runs) has no dog fur anywhere, no clumps in corners, no crumbs anywhere, and my husband's allergies are better. It usually runs 3x per week, otherwise fur starts to show up. The downstairs is ~1500sqft and has both carpet and hardwoods. It has to charge toward the end (navigating around the dining room chairs wastes a fair amount of battery), but doesn't have any issues other than that (it just picks up where it left off after charging). There were a few problem areas where it used to get stuck, but a little bit of shifting things around resolved that. If it gets stuck now, I usually find one of my daughter's socks stuck in the brush. I usually have to empty the bin halfway through, but I blame the dog completely for that one. It also doesn't have any trouble with the rugs that I own. Although if you have one of those memory foam dog beds that costco sells, it'll valiantly try to vacuum that and get stuck on it. Less frequently, I'll vacuum upstairs. It's pretty easy to simply carry it up there and press the button to start it. It's never tried diving off the stairs, although my mother-in-law locked it in a bedroom once thinking it would. So watch out for those mother-in-laws, I guess. I don't need to use the app all that often, but I do like it and it's fairly simple. Usually I just open it to peek at the battery life. Only issue on that front is that the vacuum sometimes loses its network connection. The vacuum does work without a network connection though, so if you don't have time to resolve that right away then there's no rush. Honestly, having the Botvac has made keeping the house clean way easier. I get overwhelmed pretty easily when it comes to housekeeping, and this keeps it from ever getting to that point, especially since it also forces you to pick up the floor before running it. I used to hate having people drop in because the house would be a mess; now people can just show up whenever and it's not a big deal. I am insanely happy that I purchased my Botvac D5. I actually typed this review while vacuuming.

    I bought my D5 connected on Black Friday weekend and got a great deal at Best Buy. I have a one bedroom apartment with deep pile carpet in the bedroom and wood and tile flooring throughout the rest of the house with multiple rugs, ranging in size and texture from a small nitted rug to a 5x7 soft shag rug on wood flooring. My D5 goes over all the flooring and rugs with no problem and cleans them all well in one pass. The extra features were definitely worth the additional cost for this model. Even on turbo it is no louder than a regular vacuum and you can definitely watch t.v. or talk while it is in Eco mode. I need to swifer the edges every one in a while like I would using any other vacuum. Great buy! I highly recommend it. P.S. No pets or kids so it is cleaning up small traces that other vacuums would usually leave behind and cleans under all the furniture would have to move if using a traditional vacuum.

    Fantastic Robot Vacuum

    I had purchased two of the round iRobot vacuums and was not too thrilled. I was about to just give up completely when I ran across some interesting reviews on this model and figured I’d give it a shot before throwing in the towel... glad I did! This cleaner is fantastic. We have a German Shephard/Siberian Husky mix, a long haired Chihuahua/Beagle mix and a heavy shedding cat and our floors have not looked this good in a long time. This vacuum has much better suction than the other two iRobot models we tried. Prior to having a vacuum robot, we were vacuuming 3+ times a week... but the daily scheduled cleaning has kept up quite nice. Things I love most about this vacuum: Grid cleaning pattern High suction Flat front allowing to move the cleaning brush forward Great app w/ cleaning map to confirm where it cleaned Dock and resume cleaning if the session isn’t complete

    I did a lot of research before buy one of these robotic vacuums. I was aimed for a Roomba - as it has a lot of advertising. But I saw a video on YouTube showing the difference between Roomba and Neato ("Roomba vs Neato"; "howtolou.com"). The difference is unbelievable! Roomba goes randomly around the room, as the Neato follows pattern making sure all the room is clean. No spot over clean, and no spot missing. My house has a lot of furniture/obstacles, and it manages to map all of it and make sure all of the floor is taking care of. Don't go only for the Roomba brand - Best Buy will try to push you to buy the iRobot. Search and check by yourself. Contact me if you want. This product (Neato) is great!!

    I almost never write product reviews but I hate this vacuum so much that I’m motivated to leave an honest review about it. I wanted to upgrade to a vacuum with mapping and better cleaning on both rugs and hard floors. I was upgrading from a much cheaper vacuum of a lesser known brand, which I was quite pleased with. After a lot of reasearch, I decided to go with the D5 and I truly regret it. I’m bordering on hatred of this vacuum. Yes, hatred. I didn’t know I could hate a vacuum. 1. It loses connection all the time, which wouldn’t be a huge problem except that it won’t actually vacuum without a wifi connection. It just makes exclamatory bleeps and then turns off again instead of actually vacuuming. It’s proudly announcing its failure. 2. Even on delicate mode, it still bashes into furniture. The whole front of the vacuum is scuffed up from banging into things and it has scratched furniture. If you have furniture you care about, it will bash into it. I never even dared run it off delicate mode because I presume it would just rampage and kill people. 3. It actually doesn’t alert you properly when it needs to empty its ridiculously small dust bin. The cheaper vacuum I had used a bin that was at least double the size. I wouldn’t even mind emptying the D5’s bin more frequently if it actually alerted me. I have a rug that sheds a fair bit and it just vacuums until it’s literally overflowing, leaving trails of rug fibers all over the place. So yes, after it vacuums, I frequently have to vacuum after it because it leaves trails of crap like a sick pet. Vacuuming up after my vacuum? Yep, with the piece of crap D5. 3. It’s loud without really vacuuming more. The much cheaper vacuum I upgraded from actually vacuumed better and was so much quieter. This thing sounds like a small jet taking off when it starts and then invariably stops working. 4. The side brush falls off almost every time it vacuums. The side brush, which is pathetically small, is connected by magnet and I find it in random corners all the time. Don’t get a vacuum that randomly leaves its body parts in corners. 5. Customer service is terrible. I’ve asked for help and gotten zero replies. 6. The beeps that it makes are infuriating. The beeps are loud, annoying, and make no sense. It beeps the most when it isn’t working. Thanks vacuum, but I already know you’re a failure. I don’t need its pointless and obnoxious beeping to know it has yet again lost connection. I’m so angry that I’m outside of the return window. This vacuum cost nearly three times as much as my prior vacuum and it’s worse in almost every possible way. I’d say it gets stuck less than my last vacuum but I can’t even really tell because it so rarely works. Please - don’t buy this vacuum. It’s terrible. I wasted my money. Don’t waste yours.
