Works great as a bedside smart hub. Picture quality is okay. Sound is a bit better than previous gen. The sleep tracking feature is effective in monitoring sleep. The hand gesture controls are great to have because sometimes, it's easier to wave your hand than say the magic words just to pause or stop your music.

Once you get the hang of this. Setup is so easy. Bought Nest Hub 7" for my mom and she loves it. Sounds great. What would be great is to have the calendar show on the whole screen.

I want to point out before I write this review that I did pay 50% off on all 3 of the devices I purchased, so this is based on a price of $50, not the full list price of $99. That being said, I think these were a good deal on sale and they work a heck of a lot better than Amazon Echo Dots that I had been using. They seem to listen to my wife, which the Echos refused to do, and they are pretty quick to respond to commands. Routines can be set so that you can control multiple actions at a time when you say a specific phrase, which is great for settling down at night (i.e. Ours turns the lights off and turns the air purifier on with the phrase "Okay Google, Good night." Super useful for us. The display is also very useful as it can show you weather, music that is playing on your chosen service, your calendar events, etc. I even use this to quickly view my cameras, which is a nice feature as well.

Love it. Much more intelligent than Alexa. Able to make a mistake when pronouncing a command and Google gives much more flexibility opposed to Alexa. I would like Google to tweak there google home app to be a little bit more fluid and centralize all the devices that could connect to it. I’m tech savvy so setup was simple for me but my wife struggles.

Great speaker and digital photo frame!

I bought this for the sole purpose of using it as a live-updating digital photo frame with pictures from Google Photos. It has worked great for this - my only complaint is it has a tendency to show older photos more frequently than new ones, and the same ones do appear multiple times within a short period of time. However, this is probably due to something with Google Photos, not the hub itself. I've also used it quite a few times to stream Spotify from my phone, and the speaker actually sounds quite good given its size. Bass and treble both sound pretty balanced and not tinny. I don't use any of the home automation features or much of anything else aside from streaming music and photos, but it does work great for both of those things!

I used to have its big brother, but the Wi-Fi in it died, so it was time for one. With the loss of video calls and the removal of the Zoom app from the Nest Hub Max This became the obvious choice. It works great, the speakers are not bad at all. They are not as good as its big brother but definitely not bad. I use it mainly to stream radio stations and play videos and it handles that perfectly. Like its big brother it does not support wired ethernet, but I have not noticed any issues with lag or stuttering.

Good Hub, but Sleep Monitoring needs work

Hear about the Sleep Review feature on the 2nd generation hub and I wanted to give it a try. The Google hub itself is a wonderful assistant. Ties easily into my Google account. Like the looks of the device. The speakers sound great and I really like to hear my music played on the hub. As for it's ability to monitor my sleep ... well ... I'm underwhelmed. First the hub must be located VERY close to the bed. I had to pull it to the very edge of my nightstand for it to be able to recognize me in bed. I sleep with a fan blowing on me to stay cool and I think the noise of the floor fan interferes with the hub's ability to "sense" my sleep. The values I get each night are definitely not accurate. I also don't like the fact that sleep monitoring will be a paid service next year. Grrrr. Anyway, the hub is a good tool and I'll continue to use it, but until the sleep monitoring function is improved save the difference and get the 1st generation model.

This smart display is a very cool smart home gadget! I really enjoy using it for a digital photo frame as well as to control my smart home with ease. This device is definitely made for a bedroom and is the perfect size. I think the Nest Hub Max would look too big. Also, keep in mind that this device does not have a camera.

This replaced an Amazon Echo Show in my bedroom, and I have zero thoughts of going back. I enjoy the larger screen and the functionality with my Google Calendar and To-Do lists. The speakers are decent for a unit this size.

Its so simple to set up and have one in several rooms at my apartment. I have several appliances conencte through KASA smart outlets whichs let me turn on/off mutiple appliaces such as fans, lights, and cameras through Google's voice assistent. Its a cheap way to modernize your home for tech nerds like myself that are on a budget.
