I suggested this as an alternative because of the added Google features that would help out in the kitchen and allow other features like music and video playback. Overall she mainly uses it for the pictures, but the added features being there is a nice to have.

I'm still figuring out how to best utilize it in my smart home. I still mainly interact with it using voice and rarely the touchscreen, but others may use the screen more.

Being able to pull video up in the kids room is great at night. Playing video on it is great for when kids are in the room but don't want the big screen on. Alarm functions are great. Almost nothing I can say I don't like about it after the time I've had it. Like anything, your mileage may vary.
