I find it versatile, with a very smart display, it delivers amazing audio as well, the screen is big enough to see perfectly what you need, and it also has very useful features like built-in camera framing and ambient light adjustment, making it both functional and visually pleasing anywhere at any time

I replaced my original Nest Hub with the larger Nest Hub Max today. The sound is much better on the larger unit and pictures look a lot better as well. Video quality is also improved for YouTube and YouTube TV. The camera can be used for Duo video calls as well as a Nest camera for home monitoring. You can view the video from the camera through the Google Home app and the Nest app. There is no night vision on the camera, so it will not really help you in a dark room.

The HubMax smart display with Google Assistant nails the basics-crisp screen, smooth voice controls, and easy setup. Voice drops in like a breeze, perfect for quick glances at reminders or weather. But here's the rub: no remote, so you're stuck shouting if it's out of reach. And forget pairing it with Arlo cameras or other non-Google security systems-it's a walled garden. Oh, and some AI engines? Nope, not compatible, which feels like a missed opportunity for deeper smarts. Three stars for solid design but that connectivity gap stings.

I upgraded from the smaller hub, and the Max certainly makes a difference. The 3" subwoofer was instantly noticable, and packs a nice little punch. It's the perfect screen size. I appreciate that Google works with so many other smart home companies, and I was able to connect my Wyze Cam, Phillips Hue, and IFTTT accounts without a hitch. Having a smart display in general, near the kitchen has made life easier.

Still pretty new with the smart home stuff, but really like it. The Hub on my main floor level is this item. Very easy to set up, a few very small hiccups with adding in Kasa, Fiet and Honeywell smart items but nothing that caused frustration. Good asking for a weather report, what a certain stock price is or what are the 5 most populated city’s in the world. Also easy to hook up to Spotify so you can have it play Franky Smiths “Double Dutch Bus” when you get that whim. I have also bought and hooked up two of the smaller hubs, one upstairs and one in my finished lower level, just as easy to set up. I like the screen vs the hockey puck type hubs, but I am sure they work well too.

The Google Nest Hub Max is a game-changer for any home and makes an amazing Christmas gift! The built-in camera is perfect for video calls, doubles as a security camera, and offers personalized experiences with Face Match for every family member. The vibrant 10-inch screen is ideal for recipes, music, and family photos, while its smart home integration makes controlling lights, thermostats, and more a breeze. It’s a thoughtful gift that brings families closer, keeps everyone organized, and adds peace of mind. Highly recommend!

The hub has an integrated far-field microphone for a smart speaker-like experience that can be activated with the “Hey Google” wake phrase and features video-optimized routines, which can be used to control other smart home devices with a simple dashboard. It features an integrated camera and a 10-inch screen. I guess you could safely put the device in your bedroom because of Google’s claim that it is a privacy-focused device and no one can watch you. I being the non-believer put it in the kitchen. But you can use the item for video chats which is quite nice. It appears to work through your Android or iPhone, as well as your server. The camera has around 127 degrees of field-of-view, so the whole family can be in the shot when chatting, but there is no zoom capability. The system also enjoys simple hand movement to turn the unit on and off, pause chatting or media playback, or muted microphone. You can assign IDs to family members and the camera recognizes them as they enter and leave the room. I think this is facial recognition. This also relates to the built-in calendar - each family member has their own. In addition to all of those features, the Hub Max camera can also be used as a security camera to monitor your home when you are away. Offering free live monitoring, with an option for up to 30-day continuous recording in the cloud for an additional monthly subscription fee. However, the Hub Max doesn’t support night vision. Anyone not feeling comfortable with having that camera run 24/7 can disable it with a hardware switch that also physically disconnects the built-in microphones. The emphasis here appears to be privacy, but certainly not a good function. Keep the microphone lose the camera.

I've had the Nest Hub Max for a few months now, and it’s become a staple in my kitchen. The screen is great for watching YouTube while cooking, and having Google Assistant built in is super handy for setting timers or checking the weather. The camera works well for video calls, though I wish it had a physical shutter. Face Match is surprisingly good at recognizing who's talking. Sound quality is decent for its size—not a party speaker, but fine for casual listening. Overall, it’s a solid smart display if you’re already in the Google ecosystem.

    Nest Hub Max is fantastic!

The Nest Hub Max Smart Display with Google Assistant is like having a personal comedian and butler rolled into one! This device has brought the future to my living room, and it's packed with more sass than a stand-up comedy show. First of all, let's talk about its size. It's like a mini flatscreen TV, and it stares at me with its all-knowing eye (the camera). I sometimes feel like I'm in a sci-fi movie, talking to my very own robot overlord. But it's a benevolent overlord, as long as you don't ask it to sing "Daisy Bell." The Google Assistant is a real joker. I asked it to tell me a joke, and it replied with, "Why don't scientists trust atoms? Because they make up everything!" I couldn't help but chuckle, even though I'm pretty sure it's plotting world domination behind that screen. And the Nest Hub Max is a multitasking wizard. It can show me recipes, play my favorite songs, and even display my security camera footage. It's like a Swiss Army knife for my home, except it doesn't have a corkscrew (yet). The camera raises some interesting questions. It's like having a nosy neighbor who always knows what's going on. But it's also great for video calls. I told it to call my friend, and it said, "Which one? The one who never answers or the one who talks too much?" It knows me too well! But be warned, it's a bit of a tattletale. I asked it to remind me to exercise, and it said, "Shouldn't you be doing that already?" Ouch, Google, that hurts. In all seriousness, the Nest Hub Max is a fantastic addition to any smart home. It's smart, funny, and sometimes a little cheeky. Just don't ask it to tell you any more "dad jokes" unless you're ready to laugh and groan at the same time.

Very convenient. I've used the Nest Hub Max for about 2 years now and was my very first google assistant. I connect everything I can to it (Arlo Cameras, Wyze Cameras, Lights indoor and outdoor, TVs, fans, smart surge protectors, apps like Netflix, Disney and Apple Music,AC) I leave this in the family room so anyone in my house can use it. We use it daily to control everyday uses. "Hey google, set AC to 70 degress!", "Hey google, show me the front yard!", "Hey google, turn on my fan!", Hey google turn on front yard lights!", Hey google, set lights to blue!", "Hey google, what is 864 hours in seconds?". Even my toddler uses it. She's 3 now but could easily use it the past 6 months. "Hey google, Elsa...Anna...video" and comes up with a youtube video.

Have it in the kitchen, the audio is pretty strong. Use it for streaming TV shows while cooking and having dinner. Spotify / Google Music while having breakfast. The personal pictures slideshow is the awesome, seeing nice family photos brings back good memories. The weather and time are easy to see at a glance and it has a built in Google / Nest camera, pretty cool. Definitely a useful device to have if you use Google calendar, smart lights, youtube, find / call my phone.

This 10" smart display has a magic screen that can be set to compensate for color temperature (white balance) in the ambient light which magically makes the photos being displayed look like actual paper photos. It's a brilliant idea that Facebook has already copied on their new Portal. The speakers sound good enough on their own, but it can stream to any Chromecast device to include my Sony surround speakers and TV. It actually can play to external speakers with or without the device speakers playing. The "not-Nest" camera can follow you around the room and recognize your face and tailor the content to the face that it recognizes. True to form, this device won't work with the Ring Video Doorbell (although BestBuy says that it does) other than being able to "see" it and enable/disable motion detection and record from the doorbell but it won't show the recordings on the Nest Hub Max display! There's no useful connectivity, ie video/audio streaming or speaking to visitors. Apparently, this is for no other reason than the Ring Doorbells are in direct competition with the Nest products which cost THREE times as much! Pretty petty that these huge companies put us little consumers in the middle of their dumb disputes. Also, there's a major configuration problem with Comcast/Xfinity Wifi. Once you make the changes in your router it will work forever without a problem but, at the time, it seems like something is wrong with the Nest Hub Max but in fact, it's a network problem.

This is my 6th Google Max Hub. I like them so much I also give them out as gift to my family members and this one to a close friend... It's a nice size screen, it acts as a picture frame with slide shows of my photos, I watch online medias and ask Google to show me my security cameras and adjust smart home devices... It's always a good buy...

Its helpful as a central hub to control smart home devices but its also a bit clunky.. if you had to change wifi for example, you basically have to factory reset the whole device and then join the new network rather than change it directly.. also some features are a bit awkward to use like voice calling and vide calling cause whenever i call from it people see no caller id and its a bit weird.. also Google assistant is a bit inconsistent sometimes but.. its not too bad.

Best Home Smart System/Ecosystem ON the market

I will start by saying I got this on sale for $190 - at $230 this review is the exact same - I would buy this on sale or at MSRP it is simply THAT good and I am a real snob and rarely shop items, not on sale. To start - at 10" this is the perfect system for all your smart home needs. Check your nest cameras? Got it. Movie or youtube video in the Kitchen/office? Done. Lound speaker to rock out randomly while working? Kills it. Need to turn lights off in half your house, set a routine for them, or change their color/intensity? It does that too! Since I have gotten this speaker (about 7 months now) the software keeps getting better! The only knock I have on the HUB is that the colors it comes in kinda don't make sense. All white comes with a white-facing screen - Ok I get that. The black body comes with a white-facing screen as well? I assume this is to cut down on production costs but it would be nice for a uniform color construction. If this is the only gripe I can come up with then I think that says the level of quality put into the device because I can be very nit-picky. I find this interconnects with my nest cameras and my Phillips hue lights significantly better than my iPhone or Homepod EVER did or have. I also have the Nest hub max - love that as well but let me make a big distinction. If you are buying this as a once-a-day or here and there screen this is amazing and works great - however, if you are like me and work at home the screen is surprisingly big enough. My Hub max takes everything I throw at it from Jamming in the office while I work to watching a movie while working (don't tell my boss) with the ability to switch over to my nest cameras and back to my movie easily. The sound on this is surprisingly good and fills up my 10x12 office very well! You certainly would need more than just this to fill up a living room or well-sized kitchen but for most needs, this takes care of all of them exceedingly. Let's strip some features away - let's say you don't have hue lights or nest cameras. This is still a great bedside alarm and media player. It connects to Spotify and can read out general news and reports in the morning if you set it up to do that (and it isn't that hard the home app is amazing). It truly has some great features such as watching Disney, Netflix, youtube, or HULU and it looks good on its display (and I am a resolution snob for full transparency). If you are here to compare the Google Home vs the Amazon Home ecosystem this is what I will say. I personally prefer the google home ecosystem better - I switched from the Apple home ecosystem because it didn't work that well for my lifestyle however I find that this interconnects with my home better than what I have seen the Amazon products. You have to buy into the Google ecosystem a bit to take advantage of the full features however that goes with all of them at this point. Final end of the line choice - at $190 you can't beat this product and what it does. It just doesn't get better than this price to performance as this is really a complete home system from security to entertainment and smart home control I have never had a device do so many things and do them all very well.
