Google Assistant might activate when you don't say “Hey Google” or “Ok Google” when it detects something that sounds similar. Also, Google Assistant might not activate when you say “Hey Google” or “Ok Google,” particularly in a noisy environment. You can control how often Google Assistant responds to voice commands with the “Hey Google” sensitivity setting. This setting lets you choose how sensitive devices are to phrases that sound like “Hey Google” or “Ok Google.”
- Open your Google Home app.
- Select your Nest Hub.
- At the top right, tap the Settings (Gear) icon.
- Then tap Audio.
- Then tap""Hey Google"" sensitivity and adjust the slider to make your Nest Hub more responsive to the hotword.
Retraining your Nest Hub with the Voice Match may also help, especially if you have other family members sharing your Nest Hub. You can try these outlined steps:
- Open the Google Home app on your mobile phone or tablet.
- At the top right, tap your account.
- Verify that the Google Account shown is the one linked to your speaker or display. To switch accounts, tap another account or Add another account.
- Tap Assistant settings > Voice match > Add devices.
- Make sure any devices you want to link your voice to are checked.
- Tap Next, I agree.
- Follow the in-app steps.
- To get your personal information, you must turn on Personal results.
- Tap I agree and proceed with the Voice match setup.
- To invite others to set up a Voice Match for tailored results, tap Invite, choose your communication method, and send the invite. To skip this step, tap No, thanks.

Limits placed on what they interact with based on manufacturer as well as required compatibility on other end if used to communicate make them more of a novelty at the moment.
