Good for What I Want and for the Price
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great price point and ideal features. Looking for a way to use nest cam as "baby" monitor (the kids rooms are far away). Did exactly what was expected. Still learning to use google assistant, used to Alexa. Like the responsiveness, no camera (never planning to use it, better privacy), and the small size. Definitely worth considering if needing a smart assistant to view cameras. Screen quality good. Big upgrade from Echo Spot, especially given similar pricing.

Posted .Hi Ceecee,
That's really unfortunate. We´re truly sorry to hear that your Nest Hub keeps going out. We understand how disappointing such an experience can be.
If the issue is related to connectivity issues with your Nest Hub, we recommend restarting your Nest Hub and Wi-Fi router to refresh the connection:
- Unplug the power cord from your Nest Hub.
- Leave it unplugged for ~1 minute.
- Plug the power cable back in.
If it doesn't fix the issue, we recommend performing a factory data reset by pressing and holding both volume buttons together located at the back of the display for about 10 seconds. Your Nest Hub will let you know that it has started the reset procedure.
If the issue remains unresolved, then please feel free to reach out to us for further assistance here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/contactflow

Fun! Google Home Hub
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Google Home Hub with Google Assistant is a nice addition to my assorted Google Home devices. (I tried a side by side comparison with Amazon's Alexa and decided, in my opinion, the Google Home was more intelligent and suited me better). This Google Home Hub has a 7" touch screen which adds yet another dimension to the Google home. It has the usual features of the Google home - it can answer questions like: what is the weather in Santa Monica, how long will it take me to drive to LAX (it knows your location), it took me a while to get this one set up correctly on this device - it can place phone calls over your Wi-Fi such as: call the nearest pizza hut. Of course, it can also be very frustrating when you ask what seems like a simple question and it can't get you that answer or you have to ask over and over re-phrasing the question until it understands you. It can play your linked Pandora or Spotify at your request. Just tell it to play pop hits and it will play. Amazing, the things it can do. Interesting because it has a screen, when asking questions, your question appears along the top of the screen, when you call someone, it shows the number on the screen, all of the information appears on the screen. If you ask for a recipe, it will appear on the screen which is sometimes easier than having Google just say it aloud. You can watch YouTube videos just by asking Google to show it. A neat thing, you can cast certain things to it - like Showtime! How cool is that? Of course it's a little screen and I'd rather cast to my TV, but a very cool feature. For its resting phase, you can choose to have random photos of their choosing, or you can have some of your chosen Google photos in a slide show which makes it a digital photo frame! That's cool. Little details: The speaker on this device isn't quite as good as the normal Google Home, but it's not bad. The way this is designed, it is very stable. I have 2 cats that like to walk around knocking everything over, but this hasn't gone down once! That's saying something. You have to be close to this screen to use the touchscreen of course, and unfortunately mine is across the room, but it can still hear me and I can see it. You set it up via the Google Home app and it pretty much leads you through step by step. Overall this is a very nice device - is it a necessity? No.. But it sure adds some fun to my day!

Google Home on Steriods! It's Amazing!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We decided to replace our original Google Home in our kitchen with a Google Home Hub. This unit of course comes with the Google Assistant and is in Charcoal. We loved the Original form factor of the Google Home even with it's nuances, like not identifying ones voice or adding God knows what to the grocery list at times. As we have grown to love it, it has grown and learned knew and improved features. Now steps in the Google Home Hub. This unit is a Google Home on steroids... It has a 7 inch touch display and similar speaker setup of the Google Home. What Google Assistant can do on this little device is where this unit SHINES!! I can control smart items like, locks, light switches, outlets, cameras, and more with my voice or touch of the screen. This unit not only will play YouTube videos on command, but also acts as a castable device using the Chromecast infrastructure, so if you can stream it to a Chromecast, you can stream it to this lovely unit. The Google Home Hub has a great Ambient Display which dynamically changes with lighting of the room it is in, and can be programmed to display photos in a slide show from Google Photos, weather, time and personal phone data. With all things considered, this Google Home Hub is the perfect companion for the kitchen, the nightstand, or the desktop. It balances the Google Assistant with a display and a speaker very well.

We love our Google Home!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We love our Google home! It’s a huge help in our kitchen to set timers and make phone calls while we’re busy cooking. Being able to set photos as your background is also really nice for a person touch to our home.

Nice smart device but parental controls lacking...
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have multiple smart devices in my home (Multiple Chromecasts, Amazon Firesticks, 4K Fire TV, Amazon Echo, Amazon Echo Dot, and a Google Home Mini) and had high hopes for this one but I wasn't as impressed as I expected. I live in a home with 4 daughters ranging in age from 9 down to 3. The device works as advertised to ask it questions, pull up videos, and all the other things it is shown to do on TV. My issue is with the inability to lock the screen or apply a pin to it. My kids are infatuated with YouTube and unfortunately I can't find a way to lock it down. Even when I put it in do not disturb mode they just have to swipe the screen to get to YouTube. They will sit in the kitchen huddled around it for hours on end because it is the only device they can get to YouTube on (all the XBOX Ones and PS4 are locked down with a pin). I have spent a few hours on and off searching google for a way to lock it with a pin or from the phone but haven't been successful. If you don't have kids or this isn't a problem for you to restrict access to the apps on the device then it does everything I hoped and expected for it to do outside of the previously mentioned flaw. I have been able to quickly cast videos or content from my phone and setup via the Google Home app was fast and straight forward. I would say within about 5 to 7 mins out of the box it was on my WIFi, setup, and updating to the latest firmware. I like the device for its functionality but would like the one issue/concern I have addressed to be able to rate 5 stars. Google redefined how we do things on the internet and in our homes so I would think this one concern would be a simple fix via a patch/firmware update.
