When you have multiple devices that you need to connect but only one pulled port- excellent throughput and speed- no configuration needed.

What I love most is how “set it and forget it” it is. Installation was straightforward, compatibility was flawless, and it posted on the first boot with zero tweaks. It just works—and it keeps working. No random hiccups, no instability, no weird crashes. It’s that rare upgrade that feels both powerful and completely dependable.

Simple plug and play. Could not be easier to add to your network to gain additional wired connections if you don't need to manage any admin or configurations. And small enough to easily be placed out of sight while connecting up to four additional devices via ethernet. using this with 1Gbps up and down fiber service and I'm getting the same throughput out of the switch that I get directly out of the router, no latency or throughput loss at all. I've purchased a few of these to allow me to extend ethernet to various parts of my house, highly recommend.

When I got my new Cox Panoramic WiFi modem, I knew immediately that I needed a gigabit switch. They only put two ethernet ports on the thing as opposed to the five that were on the one we 'upgraded' from. I also knew where to look first to get one: Best Buy! When I got there, they had a couple different ones, but the clear choice for me was the good ole Netgear brand one. Netgear has been making some of the best internet gadgets pretty much ever since home internet was a thing. I was glad to find when I opened the box, that they still make them with metal cases and metal frames around the ethernet ports just like they always have. The price was nice for it too. Less than the other brand they had on the shelf, and I hadn't even heard of it before. Hooking it up was very easy. I just plugged a CAT 6 ethernet cable into one of the ports on the switch and the other end into one of the two ethernet ports on the modem. I then plugged in the ethernet cords from mine and my wife's desktop PCs, and the cord that goes to the ethernet switch in the living room (we use wifi as little as possible since wired is still more reliable). I turned our modem back on and viola! Everything worked exactly as it ought to without having to reconfigure anything. That's the great thing about a switch, it sends and receives signals from every device hooked up to it without any fuss on the user's part. I've not doubt that this switch will last as long or longer than the Netgear switch that I already have in the living room and I've been using it for 20 years.

WOW the NETGEAR 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch is a great way to extend your network without investing a lot of money. I work from home and have the standard broadband box supplied by my internet operator. I have 1GB speed to the Hub by have always used wireless for my TV's and laptops. Now I can enjoy the incredible speed that a 1GB network can provide, through wired connections. The NETGEAR Unmanaged Switch is easy to install, I had it up and running within minutes. Now my TV's no longer freeze or become "pixelly" when the wireless bandwidth degrades. Email and downloads are fast. I didn't know what I was missing until I wired my PC's to the Internet using the NETGEAR Gigabit Ethernet Switch. I am no longer waiting for email with large attachments to send. Or using a web hosted product to develop graphic content. Just set it up and start enjoying the real super highway!

Fast, easy to use, and a great price. I use this to extend the number of wired ports from my fiber internet modem that only has four wired ports. Keeping a few devices on wire and off WiFi makes the whole house run more efficiently. Thanks for all the years together, Netgear.

Works very well. Was gaming wireless as my systems are upstairs. I have ethernet ports in my wall so i decided to utilize them. for people wondering how well it works i have my modem hard wired to the front room wall port, then in my furnace room is where all the ethernet wires meet. i have one of these in there to direct internet to every room in the house, then i have a second one of these in my room that hard wires a TV, Series X, Gaming PC all to the same wall port. I rarely notice any lag. would highly recommend if your looking to hard wire your gaming

Works for my purposes. Solved issue of not enough Ethernet ports on the router. Have 2 printers attached. The little rubber feet on bottom keep it from sliding around. Was easy to set up. For anyone considering this item (or similar) keep in mind that one of the ports will be taken up to attach it to the router, leaving 4 to attach your other devices. Also the necessary Ethernet cable is NOT included.
