Comcast really set up most of their service for the cable TV, not the modem. Expect if this is your first cable modem to need some help in the form of an amplifier or the removal of some filters that were set up for the pre digital TV area to be removed. Once Comcast fixed their problems, modem worked fine.

It was easy to activate and install on my home network .

I bought this new and installed it and immediately had my wifi speeds drop dramatically (75mbps with Comcast wifi modem to 30 mbps with Netgear wifi modem—speeds didn't change even when hardwired to computer). I initially blamed Comcast and they sent out a tech who was super informative. He explained that he's been seeing some glitches with the Netgear wifi modems lately and that my new modem was not locking onto available channels which is why it was slower than it should be. He suggested a different brand (Motorola or Arris). I replaced with an Arris modem and added Eero for wifi. The new modem was able to lock onto available channels and speeds went up to 175mbps. I'm giving it 3 stars because it operated. It just didn't operate well and it's possible i just got a bad one.

Bought this to replace my Time Warner supplied modem that crapped out and is working as well or better than theirs. Would recommend everyone do this and make sure Time Warner (or whomever) takes the $10.00 per month "rental charge" off your bill and it will pay for itself in a few months!

I needed internet / Wifi for my home and did not want to rent the equipment from my provider. So, I went to Best Buy and a very helpful and knowledgeable sales person helped me purchase the best equipment for my budget. I am really happy with the quality and value. Thank you Best Buy!!

Even though this item is ranked very high and indicated as compatible with Comcast's Xfinity internet broadband service, DON'T BELIEVE IT! I purchased this brand new and it worked great...for about a half hour. I called Comcast customer service three times over three days and not one of their technical support personnel could make this item work. I finally returned this item, exchanging it for another brand. That item was ranked lower than this, but worked right out of the box and has been extremely reliable since day one. It just so happens that the brand that works best with Comcast is the same brand that the company leases to the customer (that's not suspicious!!!!!) This brand of equipment is very reliable, as I've bought many over the years. This piece of equipment just simply doesn't work reliably with Xfinity, so don't waste your time!

This router is pretty cool. Set up was fairly easy, i just had to call my ISP to register it to my account and that was it. I would have given it 5 stars if it had a phone jack. That's the only downside for me. If you don't need the phone jack then this is definitely a go.

Once every couple of years it's time for us to replace modems and routers. The router to me has a much greater significance than the modem because we're a wireless household. This modem is cheap, effective and requires very little maintenance (reset less than once a month).

I needed a modem to set up my internet and this one was the one that I picked, and let me tell ya, I'm glad I did. Get one for yourself, your mom, your dad, and all your friends. They'll thank you.

Works fine its your basic motom however it is somewhat hard to install

This modem has no active cooling and becomes too hot to touch with my normal use. My normal use is a consistent 1-10Mbps down, with gaming sessions using 50Mbps and full bandwidth being 100Mbps. I think it’s just too much for this little guy to handle, despite it being rated for this connection. The interface is very outdated and barebones. I would only offer this to someone who needs their internet to work immediately, which is why I purchased it, yet even then it falls below expectations. Not recommended for any home with more than 5 devices.

Just doesn't seem to give me the total sipped I am serviced for.

We had been paying TW for their modem & decided we needed to get our own to delete renting charges. Read many reviews and decided this was the best to purchase. Easy install with directions to connect. Noticed our Wi-Fi speed is faster.

Love this guy, huge step up from ghetto modem/router model the cable Co was charging me. Make sure it's compliant with your current cable company though as some models aren't
