Customers are saying

Customers frequently mention the ease of use, strong WiFi performance, and reliable signal strength as significant advantages. Many appreciate the adapter's good range and relatively easy installation process. While some users noted the small size of the adapter, others reported occasional software issues. Overall, the positive feedback on performance and ease of use outweighs the negative comments.

Outstanding reception in two story house

My son's gaming PC was running on a power-line ethernet adapter and getting speeds of 21Mb download and 2.5Mb upload. This wasn't working well for his online gaming and streaming to Twitch, so we replaced our old router with a new Linksys 1900AC router, using the same power-line ethernet adapter. Things got no better. On a whim, I got this USB Wi-Fi receiver and switched his computer over to it instead. He now gets 53Mb down and 5Mb up, solid. His gaming and streaming are top-notch and I have way more control over the on-off scheduling and bandwidth limiting of his system via the wireless connection. Definite win-win. This has worked without a hitch and has already received one patch update with no problems. Our router is in the corner of the first floor living room and his room is on the opposite side of our two-story, 3000 sq ft house. Range is no issue.

This thing works great. Have a large house (3400 sft). Have the router upstairs on one side of the house and this plugged into my computer downstairs on the other end. Everytime I run a speedtest, it's always at the max of what my subsciption is (50 megs). Set it up over a month ago and have had it work 100% of the time. Easy to set up as well. Just a great product.

When comcast increased my Internet speed to 150 mbps I was not able to achieve the full speed on my computers. The netgear adaptor allowed me to receive maximum speed authorized by comcast. I bought two and they were simply plug in and use. Great products. They work with Microsoft Windows 10.

I have my wireless router upstairs in my home and wanted something to give me wifi downstairs for my new desktop pc from my office. This was exactly what I needed. It was super easy to install and get running and works really fast. I haven't noticed any lagging at all. Excellent product!

Purchased this for use for computer 3 floors down. Was a real challenge for other USB adapters. Some sort of worked, barely worked or didn't work at all; most found The Gateway but very weak signal strength. This product not only found Gateway, it had full strength on the bar chart. Performed very well, Great speed from Gateway! Easy install! Great product! Thanks NETGEAR!

the perfect adapter to get maximum speed. great range for a great price. I purchased it strictly because my computer, which has built in wifi, is furthest away from the gateway. it increased my speed, range, and overall performance online. awesome adapter for the price and for the upcoming ac vs n based technology.

This adapter was a must get if you buy the Netgear AC1200 Router. It was easy to set up and the "Genie" you download makes it really simple. It's range is great, and I've had no drop-offs. It works well with G, N, but designed for AC. The 5GHz band is the fastest so far.

This model is a significant speed improvement over the previous USB 2.0 model. I use both and older Dell I7 system w/a Netgear A6200 adapter (USB 2.0) and a newer Dell I7 CPU based system w/an A6210 adapter (USB 3.0 capability). I regularly experience 866 Mbps on the 5Ghz radio with the A6210 but am only able to get approximately 200 Mbps with the older A6200 device even when plugged into the newer I7 with USB 3.0. One item worth mentioning is that to install the driver most virus detection software must be removed first and reinstalled after completing the Netgear driver installation. I spent many hours trying to install the my first A6200 until until finally one of the Netgear techs asked if I had virus protection software. The installs failed on both systems the older of which uses Zone Alarm and the newer Kaspersky.

The truth is, this product works exactly as advertised and exceeded my expectations. When I first bought the AC1200, I expected to see some degradation in the signal, given that I've connected the adapter to my desktop which sits a couple walls and about 40' from my router - however, no visible degradation whatsoever. I recently upgraded from a much older model (an N300-type) and it was night/day difference, and though the price is a bit higher than most adapters, you have to consider that you are also buying one of the best and most reliable ones on the market. It almost goes without saying, but in order to get the maximum capabilities out of the AC1200 you are going to need a high quality AC router as well.

Decent upgrade from a single band with slightly slower speeds. Please remember that speeds will depend largely on your internet connection. The only reason this product is receiving 4 stars instead of 5 from my is that anytime I have to restart my computer (windows or updates) the adapter does not automatically reconnect to my home WiFi. "Yes" my previous card did this automatically. This one however I have to unplug and replug in the USB cable every time there is a computer restart. The performance and that fact that it is just a second to physically unplug and re-plug in with no need to redo the install disk every time is reason I am continuing to use this instead of having returned it.

With a new high speed router in the house, the old wifi adapter on this very basic computer just wasn't cutting it. It didn't receive the signal well (even though it was plenty strong in the basement where the computer is - as measured by my new laptop) and it was too slow. This new adapter captured a strong signal and fast. The performance on this basic computer was so radically improved (between the router and adapter) that we no longer feel a need to upgrade the computer. Easy to install. Works great - and it's been weeks.

The Way to Go for Wireless Internet

When I was updating network, I thought to do same with computers. Really doesn't do much good to get a new gen AC Router if laptops connects at N standard. Opted for these Wireless AC adapter from Netgear since I went with a Netgear Nighthawk router. Glad I did as they work great. Just plug and play. Of course, updating software is a must, but once you do, you're up and running. My biggest issue with adapter is how far it sticks out from laptop. Wished it was a little less obtrusive. Tabletop stand helps with adapter not being so obtrusive but then, that defeats purpose of using on a laptop. All in all, a great adapter for upgrading your wireless connection for either a laptop or desktop.

I bought the NETGEAR AC1200 Wireless Adapter as a last minute resort when I had to house sit for a relative. I forgot I had removed my wi-fi card from my computer when I did a custom upgrade and am usually hard-wired at home. I didn't expect much from this adapter since I've had bad experiences in the past with USB wireless adapters, but I was pleasantly surprised at it's performance and ease of use. First off, it's a plug and play. They recommend you install the included driver via CD, but I don't have an optical drive in my computer so I just plugged it in and within seconds, my WiFi was up and running (on Windows 10). Second, it's performance completely surpassed my expectations. I'm a regular gamer and streamer so I require quite a high bandwidth. I was able to play my game and stream it without any noticeable lag time and also watch my stream all at the same time. For a USB wireless adapter? I was thoroughly impressed. I would definitely recommend this adapter for anyone with the budget (it is a little more expensive than other adapters out there, but you get what you pay for).

I was looking to give my imbedded wireless in my desktop a boost on speed and connectivity to 5ghz speeds to my Netgear R6200 router, this was easy to install and setup. Found out that for Windows 10 support it was causing upgrade to hang (Microsoft issue). De-installing and installing stand-alone driver and replugging this USB Wifi adapter, now WIndows 10 recognizes it and gives me the 2G and 5G connections to my router that I had before Windows 10 upgrade.

I purchased it because my Ethernet connection couldn't reach my room computer. I bought the adapter to take advantage of my router network. So far I like it and don't regret buying it. Signal is very good and haven't experience any hiccups. With the USB 3.0, this adapter is future proof. Recommend it to anyone in the market for a wireless network adapter. This is my first wireless adapter so I haven't compare it to any other on the market.

I set this up on a newly built gaming desktop running an ASROCK Z97 mobo. If not running Windows 10 be prepared to install the driver from the disk, if you don't have a disk drive you will need a wired Ethernet connection to download the driver. Also, on Windows 10 the adapter will intermittently stop working when connected with the extension, be prepared to run it plugged directly into a USB 3.0 port. Other than these issues setting up, the product is wicked fast and works great with my current generation AirPort Extreme.

The throughput is worth every dollar to me. This device was easy to setup and use for novices, and had all the bells and whistles for the more advanced. I now have two of these in a house that is around 3000 square ft. (1 story) spread out. One of them is in furthest room and gets 866Mbps (just shy of a gig) going through a 2 brick walls to get to it. I highly recommend this device if you are looking for the best, but at time of this review it is also the most expensive.

This has been plug and play for me, and I haven't really had any issues. I am not too far away from the router maybe 20ft and the connection has been solid. Playing Overwatch on PC getting 23ms ping and no lag at all. I have had to unplug from the usb port on a few occasions to get it to connect to the network after my PC was asleep. I haven't had to do this lately and it could have been a windows problem more so than the WiFi adapter.
