    Horrible Customer Service

I bought this combo for AT&T Internet service. After installing the modem, I could not get the wireless to work. I called Netgear's customer service and after spending over an hour on the phone with a women who spoke very rough English, we were still unable to get the connection. She told me she could send me to a tech for roughly $80. I declined and tried AT&T. They had MUCH better customer service and confirmed I had everything installed correctly. After about 20 minutes, they offered to send a technician to hookup one of their gateways for free. I returned this device the next day.

    So Far So Good!!!

Bought a DGND3700 after my 2Wire started dropping internet connection randomly and for extended periods. I am using the DGND3700 for ATT DSL. Setup was fairly easy and changes can be made with little difficulty. I have had the unit in service for about a month now, and I can say the 3700 has not dropped connection once, with the side benefits of increase speeds all around! I am still running the V12 firmware it came with, mostly because I wanted to get an operational baseline before I started tweaking it. I do plan on backing up all the current settings and doing the firmware upgrade sometime in the future, if not just to see the effects. Wireless setup was easily and signal strength appears to be good throughout my multi-level home, although I am still testing different settings. I did have at least one complaint associated with DGND3700, of course, as with any other device, “always room for improvement”! The supplied stand should not be “glued on” and should be reversible from side to side/end to end. The main unit comes with rubber feet installed for what appears to be horizontal use but from what I have read there may have been some concern about heat build up when laying flat, which is a feasible concern. But if the unit must be used vertically and comes with a stand to mount it that way, either make the stand reversible or at least design it where the plate does not block the view of the status LEDs from any viewing angle (the side plate sticks out in front of the main unit enough to block the view of the status LEDs if the unit is sitting to your left).

The box said it worked with cable internet, but you have to have a separate device, not what I was going for, so I ended up returning it. I was drawn to this one as it is Netgear and I have loved my past Netgear routers.

If you have ATT&T DSL service and are looking to replace your old modem/router, then I would definitely recommend this model for you. Even though it states it is for "large" homes, even if you have a small or medium sized home or an apartment, I would recommend the DGND3700 over the lower priced Netgear models, as we tried the DGN2200 for a small home and had nothing but problems with the modem/router. I am glad I returned the cheaper model and spent the extra money and bought this particular model as it was easy to install and Netgear customer support was there via the phone for a couple of questions, when I needed them. It installed easily and now both the download upload speeds for both directly connected-to-the-router and the wireless devices is right on target. We get a strong WIFI signal with both 2.4 ghz and 5ghz WIFI available with this particular model (DGND3700v2). I do have to give high praise to Netgear's customer support, as, even with all of the problems with the other, cheaper model, they were there for us and even responded to my review for the other model (the DGN2200) in case I needed more help. Bottom line, if you are using ATT&T DSL, go with this particular modem/router (DGND3700) from Netgear, and you shouldn't have any problems. We actually had two original problems. ATT&T's old 2-Wire modem router was dropping the connection and we had terrible response time. ATT&T blamed everything on the modem/router, but once we installed this Netgear modem/router, they realized they had a problem with their signal and wiring. (So, if you are still having slow response times after you install this modem and have contacted Netgear customer support to adjust any settings, it is time to contact ATT&T and have them investigate the problem. We did and once we had this modem installed and showed them the strong WIFI signal with slow download and upload speeds--and no dropped connections, they couldn't blame the modem and they were forced to re-do the wiring from the outside of the house to the inside--and guess what? Response time is now perfect! It is a shame to have to fight with AT&T as the wiring problem existed even with the old 2-Wire modem, but, somehow, they didn't "notice" it!)

I purchased what I thought was a router/modem for my daughter to take to college. When the internet provider was attempting to hook up, my daughter was informed that this was not a router/modem. My daughter attempted to return this product to Best Buy for credit and was informed that she only had 15 days from purchase to return the product. We were over our 15 days and are now stuck with a $139 purchase that we have no need for.

I bought this modem router to replace a Windstream router modem that was not giving me the speeds I was paying for. This NetGear is great. It was really easy to set up and I am finally getting the speeds I am paying for. I didn't have any problems setting it up and changing the password and admin functions was simple using the website provided. I have been using it for over a week and it is great. I am very happy with this purchase.

Probably a good product, unfortunately the Best Buy salesperson did not ask enough questions or realize that AT&T Uverse can be wired as an ethernet connection or using a cable TV type setup. Unfortunately I have a cable TV type setup & this is ethernet only. I would probably recommend this to someone that has the right kind of connection.

The range was worse than the stock unit purchased from my provider (valued at about 1/3 the cost)...so yeah, I took it back almost immediately.

300 Mbps but needed a reset

I got this as a replacement for a DGN 3500 that crapped out after 6 months. So the $16 for the protection plan was really worth it. They replaced it without argument with this upgraded model. It installed easier than the 3500 which wasn't horrible but took a while. If you use the WPS feature and set your network adapter to 20_40 Mhz you get 300 rather than 145 mbps and the difference is noticeable. Of course your adapter has to support that. My Netgear WNA3100M low profile adapter does that and the WPS is an external button. Had to unselect the WPA2-PSK [AES] security and then reselect it after about a month to get the 300 Mbps speed back that unexplainedly dropped off. I didn't call Netgear Tech support to try this. My past experience with them has been poor to dismal. If your a somewhat technical, this is a screaming fast dsl modem/router at 300 Mbps. The 145 isn't bad either. I guess you can go up to 300 Mbps with the right adapter but mine won't go that fast
