    Not worth the price

After my ancient 2Wire modem/router fried, I had to replace it in a rush. I had little time to research, so I bet on price and brand name. I hoped that the few occasions of weak signal and dead spots would disappear, considering the allegedly superior modem/router.( I'm in an average single family suburban shack.) Nothing of the kind, no improvement of signal strength, and more that one device streaming throws a wrench in the system - something the BB associate assured me should not happen with the dual-band super-duper-sonic gizmology. I'm considering exchanging it for the twice cheaper unit and getting a booster.

    Terrible!

For what this unit cost, I was not impressed. Configuration with my DSL provider ATT went well. Internet came up without any issue. The configuration interface is poorly written and not very intuitive (they are trying to be cute to appeal to the non-tech savvy which has its place I suppose). This unit does NOT support VPN pass-through and I cannot port forward the required IPSEC ports (found this on the netgear site after messing with it for an hour, ugh). This is a must have since I have clients which need to VPN in from the internet. Signal strength for wireless was awful! Compared to the stock ATT modem I had before, this unit would transmit about half as far. I will be returning today.

    Slow wired DSL connection!

I informed a sales associate at the Northglenn, Colorado Best Buy store that I'm looking for a fast ADSL modem and he replied that the Netgear DGND3700v2 is their fastest ADSL modem. I bought this modem because, although my DSL connection has a 5 Mb/sec download speed, lately I've been getting just over half of this bandwidth! My experience with the new Netgear modem isn't good because it rarely syncs at the full speed of my DSL connection! In fact, one morning it delivered 1440Kb/sec download and 896Kb/sec upload! In this case, the download speed is a fraction of the full bandwidth, but the upload speed is the maximum! I immediately swapped this modem with my old Actiontec modem and the old modem immediately connected at 2560Kb/sec download and 896Kb/sec upload! Since my old modem is considerably faster, I returned the Netgear DGND3700v2 at Best Buy! I printed the modem status web pages for both modems and took this with me as evidence. I was cheerfully given a Best Buy gift card valued at the purchase price of this modem!

    Decent router

Good router for dsl. I bought it to compare to my actiontec router. I was under the impression that N routers would improve coverage. So I put it in the same location and got a 10% signal drop. Back it went.

Was very easy to set up and worked great for a year. The unit decided to stop working 20 days after the warranty expired.

I purchased this product on 12/29/12 and was pleased with the initial setup. However, when I attempted to browse web pages on 3 different iPads and 1 iPad Mini I noticed that the pages would never fully load. I promptly called the support number listed on the side of the router. After about a 30 minute hold time I was greeted by a support rep. His first request was the serial number. I read it off to him. He then proceeded to tell me that it was an older model - made in 2011. He told me that in order for me to receive phone support I would have to pay because the unit was no longer in warranty. I informed the rep that I had only owned the product for 2 hours. He said I would have to return in and get a different one and to have a nice day, then hung up. I don't recommend this product or this company.

purchased this router/modem for the highly reviewed parental conrtol features. Upon setting up device the parental control feature wouldn't open. First call to there tech line and 54 minutes of support was told it was defective and return it. After installing the second one had same problem and spent three more calls into netgear for a total of 90 minutes and was told to keep doin the exact same steps each time . Now I was told to wait until Monday and somebody will call to send me new firmware .They cannot figure out how the feautre works and it will be returned for a refund .Total waste of money and also it was listed cheaper online and in stock at my store and the stores price was higher. I had to threaten to order it on the spot online and pick it up to save the ten dollars before they agreed to sell it for its advertised price online

    Awful product

Turns out that after 7 hours online with netgear support the firmware is out of date with this product. No problem, just use your time and computer skills to download new firmware (assuming your model works well enough for this) and install it to the router. The vaunted netgear genie does not help you do this at all by the way, so forget that. Once you've done all of this you will have to do a hard reset on the device (which they won't tell you until you're experiencing problems again). So at this point you have spent approximately 6 hours with customer support fixing your device but don't lose hope you are almost there. Once you've checked your connections, changed multiple settings, updated your firmware and done a factory reset the only thing you have left to do... Drive to bestbuy and return it because the thing still doesn't work. The casing looks sleek, 1 star.

    Not for Zoomtown

Don't buy it. I was told by the sales people at best buy that it was plug and play and could be used for Cincinnati Bell's Zoomtown ADSL internet. Needless to say it's not compatible. Could not return since I did not try to install it right away. My mistake I waited 3 weeks before trying it. Will not shop at best buy again.

    Don't buy Netgear

I bought this product and it lasted three months. Netgear sent me a replacement, and I had to pay for shipping. The replacement broke down four months later. I asked Netgear for a refund but they apparently do not do that. Instead they are now sending me another router after a very long phone call. After reading other reviews, I fully expect this new router to break again after a few months, at which point I will simply have to realize I wasted my money on Netgear but will never do so again. I advise you to stay away from Netgear products in general.

The 2nd unit in under 9 months has quit working...

The 2nd unit just quit working in less than 9 months. The only reason I got unit #2 was due to the fact that I couldn't get any other unit in store and could not get any credit back to order another better unit. Fail.
