Disconnects / Won't Hold A Connection

It will not hold / drops connection. Google A7000 disconnecting and you can see that this is a common problem. There are numerous hacks out there related to registry and USB power settings and such to try and resolve the problem. None of them worked for me. Netgear should be ashamed for not addressing the problem and Best Buy should be ashamed to sell a product with a known significant problem. I purchased a Linksys USB6400M and it works perfectly on the same computer and setup without a single disconnect, not to mention that was cheaper.

Poorly made

It puts too much weight on the usb head. CONSTANTLY DISCONNECTS. You have to go into task manager every week or so to fix the problem. Even then, youre lucky if it doesnt do its deconnect song and dance every 3 hours. But when it does decide to work its pretty fast.

This adapter has been consistent in quality and connectivity. However, one thing they should change or at least warn about is that at some point, for whatever reason, the driver will spike your CPU usage, causing an annoying noise because the CPU is overworking (I checked Task Manager in Windows 11 and saw the spike). For me, it was 30-35% CPU usage. Others reported higher. The fix is to uninstall the driver then reinstall the latest from NetGear, but do the Standalone install option. Now my computer is quiet and I have that 30-35% CPU usage back for more productive uses which I need for my audio and video projects (it may have caused pops in my vocal recordings which started happening out of nowhere around the same time). But otherwise, the product is good, coming from a tech guy.
