Extending Life

This was a more viable option than to spend $1300 for rewiring. product works well. Keep in ind that you must allow it to refresh if your computer goes into sleep mode. The device needs to reconnect ... which is not an issue. Netgear makes wonderful products in which includes this device as well. It comes recommended without reservation.

My ethernet port went down in my desktop machine and I didn't have any available slots to put in a new ethernet card so I went with this wireless adapter and it worked great. I transfer a lot of large photo files back and forth and this did the job!

Linux support would be appreciated

Netgear doesn't directly give Linux support so I dinged them a star. Google is your friend when working with Linux. lsusb command showed the device was also known as A7000 and eventually I found articles referring to drivers for its chipset. After compiling and installing the driver it works as desired.
