My cable internet service speed was increased a few months ago to 300 mbps. My prior modem, a Motorola Surfboard, was only getting 100. Also, recently I had to start rebooting every day or other day because my speeds would suddenly drop; rebooting fixed that. So I really had two problems to solve for the modem. For the router, I had actually purchased an AC router (Netgear) in January of 2015 and it generally did a fine job. However, about after six months of usage, it started dropping the internet connectivity for devices connected wirelessly; wired devices were fine. A reboot would fix that. I never was able to resolve that so decided to try the approach of an integrated unit. Theoretically less "moving" pieces. It was very easy to set up. I ended up having to talk to a technician at Time Warner but I don't think that was the fault of the modem. I think they had issues with the device registration site. But it was painless and I quickly got it set up to my usual SSID and such. The signal in the house is pretty strong. I have a two story of about 3500 square feet and the device is at one end of the house and still has solid strength at the other end (home built in 2006 to give you and idea of what the walls might be like). When I run speedtest, depending on the server, I can actually get 320 download speed and consistently get between 20 and 23 upload speed. There are parental controls but as my kids are now over 21, I haven't had to use parental controls in many years. So I cannot speak for the ease of use or quality of them. The web admin interface (Genie) loads very quickly, much more quickly than the old router I had with the same interface. In the interface, you can set up as much detail as you want it appears. You can block specific services to specific ports and even to the level of specific IPs on your network. I've not had to really do that but nice to know it is there. There is also the ability to provide access control so you specifically enable devices based on their MAC address. Not that the MAC couldn't be spoofed but if you are have concerns about others getting into your network even if you have a password on your network, you can implement further levels of access control. A feature I haven't used on this device but used in the prior router (same feature) is plugging in a USB devices, specifically a hard drive I have in an external case. You can use this to create network accessible storage directly using USB from the router/modem. I found it worked rather well. The other option is attaching a printer. That would be really useful if you have a nice printer that doesn't have a network connection and you want to make it available to your network. Or, if it only has a wired connection and you don't want to use any of the Ethernet ports. There are four Ethernet ports. I use a hardwired connection for my desktop and work laptop, my NAS, and then a run I have to a Harman Karman receiver. I've had no issues with any of the ports and they all seem to get full throughput. The wireless performance I've not dived into greatly but I definitely measured 100 download speed from a laptop connected tot he 5G network segment halfway across the house. Of course time will tell (I've been running this about two weeks now) but so far I'm please with the purchase. I chose to invest a bit more than originally planned (this cost me $280 before tax) but I wanted to try to be forward looking. I had also considered the AC 1750 which is about $80 cheaper. I hope this helps. Good luck in your purchase.

I purchased this after seeing a review on YouTube. I have suddenlink as my provider and my speed is around 400mb/s, which is well under the limit of this device. I was using the provided router modem and using speed tests on my phone or Xbox I rarely would see actual speeds anywhere close to that or even half of that. I now have blazing fast WiFi that supports all my devices simultaneously. I do a bit of online gaming and my load times are better, download speeds are awesome, and as far as YouTube or Netflix I haven’t had to have anything buffer even once. All of this performance on all my devices is via WiFi. If my Xbox setup was ok the same floor and able to reach for hard wire I’m sure it’d Be even better. Setup was a breeze even without a computer. I used my iPhone when it tried to auto connect to the WiFi. Berger’s has an app to help setup but I personally found it easier to use my browser to do that instead of the app. In short I dropped $11 a month in equipment rental fees and scored this one on sale for Father’s Day for $154.99. Really hard to pass up especially when I had a few $5 reward credits to use as well.

I recently signed up for TWC 300Mbps, using the equipment provided by them I maxed out at 152 Mbps when directly connected to the router. I bought this baby and my last speed test came back with 349 Mbps! Keep in mind that I was directly connected to the router with a CAT 6 Ethernet cable. My WiFi in the house I am seeing speeds of 150 Mbps and higher. This was easy to setup and has boosted the range and speeds of my home network. This was well worth the money to purchase. I am very happy with my new modem/router. I will buy the matching Range extender soon to.

So bought this to return the cheap rental modem from spectrum and save money which pays itself. I have a good speed package 200+mb and barely getting 90 for my Xbox. After the easy installation process that took less than 10 min my speeds jumped crazy. Peaking at over 232mb 24/7 all times of day on my Xbox when I play and find games. ZERO LAG when everyone on Netflix and there devices. Range is also really good way better than my other one. My phone speed went from 40mb top to about the same 230+ it’s just amazing this product and easy to use on your phone connecting devices and mapping them. my only regret not buying this a long time ago :(

just bought it today and the setup was easy, had to call my internet provider to setup on their end, netgear website is easy to use and wifi ssid and password setup is a breeze haven't tried out the parental control yet but will do when i have the time. the price was $199.99 and i didn't know it was on sale and was $16.00 discounted. So far NETGEAR - Nighthawk Dual-Band AC1900 Router been working very good, by the way i have spectrum internet 100mbps and with this Netgear Nighthawk router I did 2 test 1 test is with my ether net wire and it tested at 100mbps and 2nd test was with my wifi adapter which is the N network and it also tested at 100mbps. So yes this NETGEAR - Nighthawk Dual-Band AC1900 Router is worth the money, but it's not compatible with certain internet provider.

First off , easy to use . Easy to set up . You can control EVERYTHING with this router/modem combo . You can set websites you don’t want used , block IP addresses you don’t want on you network , toggle 2.4 & 5 ghz on and off as you please . And if you’re tired of spending 15-25 dollars a month on renting one from your ISP. Look no further . Here is , in my opinion , the best option available . Great for gaming , streaming , etc . Constant connection and I have no spikes , drops or any issues with connectivity at all . Plus for my situation in about 6 month of using this and the “rental” not being on my bill, it will pay for itself .

Easy to set up, only took about 5 minutes to complete. The range on this is incredible. I do a lot of outside work around the house and have the wireless range of ease. Also, have a outside TV that had limited access until I installed the Nighthawk AC1900

The WiFi range on this thing is impressive and I doesn't lock up like the modem Comcast/Xfinity wants to rent/provide to you. I have had this thing running at my house now for over 8 months and I haven't had to reset it even touch it. Devices that could not stay connected to the Wifi before with the Comcast provided modem now had no issues, and I'm getting better more consistent speeds to. I should have bought this router when I first got cable hooked up it would have saved me from a lot of problems and it would have saved me a couple hundred dollars that I spent renting the crappy modem Comcast installed.

I had a Motorola SBG6580 since 2014 amd recently the internet speed was extremely slow. So, I started searching for a new modem router and found Nighthawk... After the set up, the whole family was able to notice the huge difference immediately. It works very good even outside the house (the old one didn’t) I see some reviews where it states “the set up was not easy”... I absolutely disagree with them!! I first downloaded the “Nighthawk” app on my phone and it let me follow the steps and everything was set and running in less than 10 minutes. So, I highly recommend you to use the phone app.

I have a smaller home, this was able to give me great coverage across my house. The speeds from xfinity are actually 150 mbps down/ 10-15mbps up vs 90/5 on my old modem/router. This also decreased my latency when playing online games. It is pricey, but it has the capability for faster speeds in case I want to upgrade later. Overall it is 2 devices in one, so the price is somewhat justified. I would recommend it, I would avoid the netgear genie software for now. It seems dated and caused more problems than helped. The iPhone app however is clean and actually helpful.

Previous Netgear finally died after many years. this was an easy choice for a replacement. The Nightgear App makes setup customization and monitoring a breeze. No more slow router sites 192.168.yadayada. The app clearly lists with names the devices on the account proving very beneficial in monitoring tablet time for all the parents out there. Blazing speeds to match my Comcast ability, and reliable signal strength throughout my home with the router placed in the living room(2200 sqft home with basement for reference)

Very easy to set up (especially using Netgear iPhone/iPad App), easy to use, very reliable so far. Like dual band choice, functional indicator lights very helpful. Like having cable modem and wireless router in single device (don't have to authorize, set up, and manage two separate devices). Strong wireless signal through out house allowed removal of wireless signal booster. Modem/router meets expectations and needs.

Xfinity moved into our neighborhood, and I didn't want to rent their router. The Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 was super easy to set up. Even though I read other reviews about needing to pick which band to broadcast while turning the other off, we haven't had any issues leaving them both on. Ours is working great for dual band broadcasting. We not only get the faster speeds with our newer tech, but we have more time to gradually replace our 2.4ghz tech. We've had 8 devices connected at the same time without issue. Gigabit internet makes our HD streaming look amazing. Great router/modem combo.
