    Second one works great

Was switching over from Uverse to Comcast so I wanted to buy my own modem/router rather than pay monthly rental charges to Comcast. This one looked like what I needed, even saying it supported Comcast. Brought it home and hooked it up, but couldn't get it to work. All the lights would light up momentarily but then go back to blinking. This cycle continued. Spent over an hour on chat with Comcast trying to get it activated. Finally they said they would have to send out one of their techs, but it would cost me $70 if the problem wasn't due to them. When the tech came out a couple of days later the first thing he did was hook up their Comcast router/modem and all the lights came on and stayed on. He said I had a bad router/modem, but said he wasn't going to charge me since he had only been there 5 minutes and the Comcast person on the chat should have been able to tell me that. So I took the router/modem back to Best Buy and got a replacement. Hooked it up and all the lights came on! Called in to activate the new router/modem and they couldn't get it to activate. Finally they realized that the problem was that they had the router/modem serial number and MAP address from the first router/modem. They changed it to the new router numbers and it seemed to work , but then I still wasn't able to get an internet connection. The SID showed up, but wouldn't take my password off the router. Comcast again said they would send out a tech at no charge, but I decided to wait and try some more things myself. Finally I hooked up my laptop to the router/modem directly through the ethernet connections. I was able to enter the password and everything connected! Everything has worked fine over the last week, but what a hassle!

Good replacement for a retired Netgear modem/route

Seems better than my former Netgear modem/router but I was disappointed that set-up and control was only via smartphone. You would think a quality manufacturer would make these possible by whatever device and operating system it works with. I like the upright structure of this which is better at dissipating any heat it generates. It seems more "powerful" in handling more devices at once than my old one. I'm in a small apartment so I can't really comment on its range but it does well for where I'm at.

The Netgear Nighthawk has worked very well

Since I’ve bought the Nighthawk replacing my old Netgear my connection to the WiFi throughout the house seems to be a lot better. I live in a two story and before I needed to use a extender but with this it reaches upstairs effortlessly. Hooking it up was simple and the instructions given for the steps on the computer come with it and were helpful. Might be a little more on the expensive side but with the amount of devices and type of work I do it was a must to help with the internet not lagging along. My internet does though seem to drop here and there in connection but nothing to serious. I definitely recommend this product

Great Performance - Saving Rental Fees

Having recently switching ISP from DSL to cable and intending to save cable modem rental fees, I purchased the Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 cable router modem. After reviewing a number of all in one WiFi router modems, this met my needs. My cable internet is rated at 250 Mbps, and the router delivers this and at times more than the rated speed. Setup was easy using the Genie app. The WiFi covers my two story 1,800 square foot home inside and out.

This modem is the best compare to the AC1900, especially if you have Comcast (Xfinity). This is the best modem for it.

We're quite pleased with our Netgear Nighthawk. It was super easy to install right out of the box. The two channels allow us to ensure a family of five are all accessing their chosen internet device without reducing the speed on the rest of the house. While we haven't used this feature yet, it also allows for the creation of guest accounts--an excellent bonus that I'm sure we'll end up setting up as we settle into our new home.
