Best Buy & Netgear both flopped

Received Dec 30 and tried to begin installation Jan 2. After 2 weeks back and forth with Netgear and Xfinity, Netgear admitted on Jan 16 there was a hardware problem and to return it to Best Buy. Tried on Jan 17 but found out that Best Buy return policy expired Jan 16. I mistakenly assumed I had 90 days. Ended up throwing this piece of junk in the trash. I will not use Best Buy online again, and probably won’t buy another piece of electronics there because of your policy.

I bought this in March of 2017. Fast forward to today and it is my 4th C7000 (replaced by Netgear 3 times - yep 3 times - after much hassel). Anyway, the modem will work fine for a few months and then start dropping the connection frequently - all the lights go off and it reboots itself. My latest "new" one lasted 3 months and it is doing it again!!! Netgear do not seem to be able to fix this issue (probably a defective component in it). Anyway today I bought a different brand and have my fingers crossed. This expensive Netgear was NOT worth the trouble.

Not good. I came with a lot of issues. I called the company to fix it. We spent ( wasted) hours trying to solve it and we couldn't solve it. I requested an exchange. I got a new one with the same issues and when I called the Netgear company and try to fix the issues they were unable to do it. I requested a reimbursement, they never reply. I called and they sent emails and they never honor the 1 year warranty. I recommend it to nobody.

My first router stopped working and the power button was red. This indicates thermal shutdown. I have it in a well ventilated area in my office with the ambient temperature 70-74 degrees. I tried to cool it down with a cold pack, and even put it in the freezer. No luck, just dead. Took it back and exchanged for another one, it also went into thermal shutdown in 5 days. I have had great luck with Net gear, but this one is going back and I'll hook up my Nighthawk AC 1900 and Asis Modem. There was also no speed benefit here, and my isp only gave me 15 of 24 bonded channels.

Set up was great but signal was bad being 3 feet away from the router itself. Returned a week after associates said it may have been a defective modem/router and will be sent out.

Really Great with only 1 minor problem

I was previously renting units from my ISP and decided to lower my bill by returning theirs and getting my own so I got this combo unit. Works with Wow cable just fine. I did have to call them and give them the serial number and they did something and I was up and running. It was fairly easy. It's been 3 months and everything is working as expected. I've never had to reboot or anything like that. I'm not a tech aficionado, just average or slightly below average, so I can't compare it to others but I can simply say it works. My only gripe is that after setup I changed the ssid name and the password away from their defaults. This was easy enough to do and was problem free. But a month later my neighborhood had a power outage. The outage lasted for an hour or so. Once power was back up I noticed nothing was connected to wifi. The unit was on and seemed to be working but nothing would connect. I was utterly confused and was blaming Wow cable. After a lengthy time of waiting still nothing. I called Wow and they were telling me everything was working fine and so on. Finally after a very patient customer service rep. we finally figured out the power outage caused the unit to default back to it's factory ssid and factory password. I felt like such an idiot. According to the tech rep. from Wow, some units will default back after a power outage but not all. Apparently this brand and/or specific model does. It was working the whole time but I had to just reconnect to the original ssid wifi network and use the original password. IDK if this is common knowledge (that they can default back after power outages) but it was knowledge I didn't possess. I don't recall seeing this stated in the instruction booklet either. Not sure if this warrants removing a star or not but it was incredibly annoying. Perhaps I am to blame for not knowing this could happen?

After three weeks of use, the router feature quit working so I returned it to the store. My previous router (Netgear) was a stand alone unit which I reinstalled after returning the diesel modem/router unit. I was told by a Best Buy Associate I should stay with a separate modem and separate router so I updated the modem and kept my old router. All is working fine now.

I bought this modem/router in an attempt to replace the one i rent for $15/month from Xfinity. The service i pay for provides up to 600 mbps, which i was easily getting on the modem i was renting from Xfinity. After replacing it with this modem, the best i could get was 60 mbps. This model was supposed to be rated for up to 900mbps, so to me 60mbps was just far from acceptable.

I purchased this item for $200 on 3/25/2020 to replace the one I was renting for $14 a month from XFINITY and it has been a complete nightmare!! I can’t seem to keep my devices hooked up to WiFi for more than 10 minutes at a time. I went ahead and purchased an Arris seeing that the one I rented from XFINITY is that same brand. Hopefully I’ll have better success with this one.
