Poor Circuitry
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My first router stopped working and the power button was red. This indicates thermal shutdown. I have it in a well ventilated area in my office with the ambient temperature 70-74 degrees. I tried to cool it down with a cold pack, and even put it in the freezer. No luck, just dead. Took it back and exchanged for another one, it also went into thermal shutdown in 5 days. I have had great luck with Net gear, but this one is going back and I'll hook up my Nighthawk AC 1900 and Asis Modem. There was also no speed benefit here, and my isp only gave me 15 of 24 bonded channels.

OK when it works
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.OK when it works. I have to reset it almost daily. Netgear customer service SUCKS! If you buy this, make sure you get the Best Buy protection plan. You are going to need it!

Great but NOT
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Set up was great but signal was bad being 3 feet away from the router itself. Returned a week after associates said it may have been a defective modem/router and will be sent out.

Returned quit working
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After three weeks of use, the router feature quit working so I returned it to the store. My previous router (Netgear) was a stand alone unit which I reinstalled after returning the diesel modem/router unit. I was told by a Best Buy Associate I should stay with a separate modem and separate router so I updated the modem and kept my old router. All is working fine now.

Really Great with only 1 minor problem
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was previously renting units from my ISP and decided to lower my bill by returning theirs and getting my own so I got this combo unit. Works with Wow cable just fine. I did have to call them and give them the serial number and they did something and I was up and running. It was fairly easy. It's been 3 months and everything is working as expected. I've never had to reboot or anything like that. I'm not a tech aficionado, just average or slightly below average, so I can't compare it to others but I can simply say it works. My only gripe is that after setup I changed the ssid name and the password away from their defaults. This was easy enough to do and was problem free. But a month later my neighborhood had a power outage. The outage lasted for an hour or so. Once power was back up I noticed nothing was connected to wifi. The unit was on and seemed to be working but nothing would connect. I was utterly confused and was blaming Wow cable. After a lengthy time of waiting still nothing. I called Wow and they were telling me everything was working fine and so on. Finally after a very patient customer service rep. we finally figured out the power outage caused the unit to default back to it's factory ssid and factory password. I felt like such an idiot. According to the tech rep. from Wow, some units will default back after a power outage but not all. Apparently this brand and/or specific model does. It was working the whole time but I had to just reconnect to the original ssid wifi network and use the original password. IDK if this is common knowledge (that they can default back after power outages) but it was knowledge I didn't possess. I don't recall seeing this stated in the instruction booklet either. Not sure if this warrants removing a star or not but it was incredibly annoying. Perhaps I am to blame for not knowing this could happen?

Does not perform like advertised
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this modem/router in an attempt to replace the one i rent for $15/month from Xfinity. The service i pay for provides up to 600 mbps, which i was easily getting on the modem i was renting from Xfinity. After replacing it with this modem, the best i could get was 60 mbps. This model was supposed to be rated for up to 900mbps, so to me 60mbps was just far from acceptable.

Complete disappointment
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this item for $200 on 3/25/2020 to replace the one I was renting for $14 a month from XFINITY and it has been a complete nightmare!! I can’t seem to keep my devices hooked up to WiFi for more than 10 minutes at a time. I went ahead and purchased an Arris seeing that the one I rented from XFINITY is that same brand. Hopefully I’ll have better success with this one.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.TERRIBLE!! CUSTOMER SERVICE ON THIS PIECE IS THE WORST. NO HELP AT ALL. THANK GOODNESS THAT I STILL HAVE TIME TO RETURN IT. I BOUGHT IT SO THAT I COULD USE THE NIGHTHAWK APP TO MONITOR WHAT WAS GOING ON AND THEY CANNOT GET IT TO WORK CORRECTLY. IT CONSTANTLY GIVES AN ERROE THAT IT NEEDS A SOFTWARE UPDATE AND THEY TELL ME THERE IS NOT AN UPDATE AVAILABLE. 3+ HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR NOTHING!! DO NOT PURCHASE THIS ITEM!!

Does not perform as promised
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Wi-Fi modem- router was supposed to provide the range I needed in my home, but now looks I will need to also purchase a Wi-Fi Extender. Also- when purchase I set up with “ Genie “ software - 2 days later I was forced to convert to “ nighthawk “ and list all the custom names for each Wi-Fi device - can not create custom names in “nighthawk “ ! Disappointing.

Crap
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Does not show all devices. Bought a new phone, it's blocked. Can't unblock it because it doesn't show up on network map. If you block a device, it takes 2-3 tries to unblock it and vice versa. Looked at other brands but they all seem to have issues too. I am very disappointed in Netgear. They have been around for a while and this is the best they can do?

Good but hard to set up from the app
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works well replaced xfinity combination. I’d say about the same speed for me. Keep in mind, xFi will no longer work once you no longer have an xfinity router.

Do your research
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We now use a separate router and modem and would recommend everyone else do the same, these devices tend to not last.
