||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After 10 months from purchasing this product it got frozen. I called the customer service from the manufacturer country and told me "good news" we can fix it but your warranty just expired so just pay us "only" $179 and we will fix it...I'm sure that the problem with my modem was not an accident. Think for your self!

Blazing Fast Speeds!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For the past six years I have rented a modem from my internet provider (Mediacom) and used my own router. I was content until I cut the cord from cable TV and began to rely more heavily on streaming media. Having gotten involved in a Tablo OTA dvr as well as getting involved with setting up a Plex media server, i became frustrated with my prior rented modem/personal router setup due to the fact that i was unable to get any type of remote access set up for either device. After reading far too much material that, quite frankly, went well over my head, i finally came up with the conclusion that i needed to purchase my own modem/router combination in the hopes of simplifying my ability to get that remote access working. After reading what felt like endless reviews I finally decided on the Netgear Nighthawk Ac1900 modem/router combo. After trying to talk myself out of buying it over the course of the day, i finally decided to take the plunge after thinking about how much money i tossed away renting the previous modem over the course of 6 years. I figured after about a year and a half it has paid for itself, so i made the decision to go for it. The verdict? Oh. My. Goodness!!! I had become very accustomed to paying for 100 Mb/s and getting around 45 Mb/s during peak times and 60 Mb/s during the odd hours. My first speed test with the new Netgear combo during peak hours netted me a result of a whopping 164 Mb/s - i was floored... i actually didn't ever expect to go so far above and beyond not only what I was previously getting, but above and beyond what I am paying for - and this was NOT a direct ethernet connection, this was the wifi connection speeds! In addition to that, I got both the Tablo and Plex server set up with the remote connection and couldn't be any happier. The setup and interface is very easy - even for those of us without an abundance of geekology. To say I am pleased is an understatement and would readily recommend this unit without hesitation.

This happens only to the devices connected to the Wifi, devices hardwired dont drop from the internet. I called Netgear help line and they suggested a few changes to the channel. That did not help. Doesn’t work well with Comcast
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had constant WIFI connection issues with my Comcast from the start. Multiple phone calls to Comcast and Netgear without getting it fixed. It says it works with Comcast so it might work in your area. I bought a motorola which has worked great without issue.

It's a Lemon
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Constant problems with the device; drops signal often. The product touts better performance with gaming devices such as Xbox; essentially no difference using the free/included modem from internet service provider and an inexpensive router.

The best modem/router I've had yet
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First, I did receive this through the Netgear Friend and Family program. However, this is a real review based on using it for the last week. I love this modem. I used to have the Netgear C600 and this blows it out of the water. Setup was fairly easy, though I did have to deal with Time Warner Cable and that took a bit since we just moved, but that's a whole other story. Once TWC activated the modem, everything else was easy. The ONLY issue with this modem is that with TWC, I am not getting 24 downstream channels. I asked TWC about it and they said it was a Netgear issue. After going online and doing some research though, I found out that TWC currently does not do 24 channel bonding and that there's nothing you can do until they correct it. The speed and range of the AC1900 is great. Using NetGear's WiFi Analytic app, I measured the strength and speed in the different rooms of my house. Once I installed the AC1900, I ran the test again and the strength improved by 30-60% and the speed increased as well. Talking about range increase, I live in a corner house, with another corner house behind us, and then the street. When I come home, as soon as I get in front of the house behind us, I am connected to my WiFi. I live in a two-story house and the modem is in the 2nd story, near the back. I have access in every room of the house, even in my front yard. As much as I liked my older modem, I was almost to the point of getting an extender since I was losing speeds on the front floor near the front. I don't have to worry about that now with the Nighthawk AC1900. So not only is it a good modem, and saves me money from having to pay modem rental fees from TWC, I now am also saving money by not having to buy a range extender as well. If you live in a 2 story house, this is the modem/router for you. If you need additional range, this is the model for you as well. Hopefully TWC will get it's act together soon and provide me with 24 channels.
