I love how easy this is to hook up and use. I didn't like paying rental fees from the cable company.

Great modem/router combo. I would recommend upgrading to Docsis 3.1, though.

When I purchased this, I was told that this was the best and fastest modem/router for use with Xfinity/Comcast cable internet. I have never has consistent wifi speed. I currently have the Xfinity/Comcast internet service with speeds up to 150 mbps. I have countless calls to Xfinity and they say it is the router/modem. So I was messing around with the channels a few weeks ago...and yes....I hit speeds to 150-170 mbps for a day or two!! Only to drop again to about 15-20 mbps now...with no changes. So I made the very very dreaded call to Netgear support again. It was as bad as I anticipated. Very difficult to hear and understand. After giving all of my information, I now find out that I can pay subscribe for premium support as they only offer support for 90 days! So reset router to factory...and no improvements. Looks like I will be going to a different brand than Netgear. From the reviews, looks like this is working well for others..so maybe I just have was unlucky to get a defective one? I am past 90 days so no returns to Best Buy and no support from Netgear. So frustrating!

Bought on 7/27/20. I pay for 500Mbps internet. From the start, the most I ever got out of this thing is 325 Mbps on a hardwire. 250Mbps on WiFi if nothing else is connected. Didn’t complain though because I never had a problem with streaming or gaming with it. It was fast enough. Fast forward to now, November 2021, it completely stopped working. Called Netgear about it since it was an obvious hardware issue. They only cover hardware for 12 months. They advised me to throw it away and buy another one. For an extra $40, I bout a surfboard modem with a Linksys router. It’s only been a week with this setup, but I’m much happier with it. I am getting 490Mbps during peak hours. Highly advise to steal clear of modem/router combos and Netgear all together since they won’t stand by their own products that they advertise with a 2 year warranty.

Have have infinity for my ISP, let others trying to get away from rental fee $14.95 per month. I found out 3.0 is not compatible and need 3.1. It appears infinity changes there modem every 2-3 years to keep up with technology and then I would to buy another unit. I find it not worth it and just rent.

Slow speed and need to reboot often.

Since installation I have had to reboot Modem/Router numerous a times a week. I also note the system seemed to be running slow. Tested speed and found the Ethernet was running at about 75 mbs when I have 200mbs service. Spectrum checked and said the issue was the modem. Was unable to get help from NETGEAR service. Plan to return.

    Netgear changes how DHCP works

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I am a long time Netgear user and I was very disappointed with how this router works. The problem is that you can no longer assign static IP addresses to specific devices OUTSIDE OF THE DHCP RANGE. This is a problem for me. I have always set static addresses from .2 to .199 for known devices. If I see an address that ends with .200 to .254 (the DHCP range) I know it's new and I need to assign an IP. I called support and they insisted that this was intentional by Netgear. Without this, management of my network is difficult. Known & unknown devices would be mixed through the entire DHCP range. I can't live with that. I returned the AC1900 and bought a AC1750. (my previous router) Very disappointed. I still love Netgear products, but they blew it on this issue.

It is capable of running multiple devices rather smoothly, including an xfinity alarm system. However, the range isn't strong enough to reach both floors of our townhouse. We have had to setup network extenders.
