This router is a lemon. Do not buy.

The 5 Ghz band never worked reliably. I'd have hourly disconnections throughout the day despite being in range with good signal. No change in settings helped, no matter the channel selection, channel width, beamforming on or off, router placement, antenna position, etc. The 5 Ghz SSID would disappear and reeapear a minute or two later, with devices sometimes being able to reconnect and sometimes not. And now the 2.4 Ghz band is showing similar unreliability. The Netgear forum has a growing number of users who are reporting that the 5 Ghz band is just not practically functional. It appears the MU-MIMO implementation is broken, and some see improvement when they turn off MU-MIMO. In my case, it made little difference. And Netgear seems to be in no rush to address the problem. Through much headache I was able to obtain an RMA from Netgear, but I need to pay for $16 shipping. It's not worth it. This router is a lemon. The issue is either the chipset or the firmware, and a refurbished device is going to be just as bad as the one I'd send back. I got an Asus to replace it, which has been working flawlessly without issue since I plugged it in to my network a week ago. Imagine that. This is last Netgear product I'll ever buy.
