This was recommended at the store as capable of covering my upstairs and downstairs but it doesn’t reach the far upstairs bedroom. I can pick up two neighbors’ routers there.

Netgear AC2300 Router Drops 5Ghz Connections

Had the Nighthawk AC2300 for three months and it would intermittently drop 5GHZ connections. I spoke with NetGear tech support who had me install the latest firmware. This did not work. Wireless connections still dropped at random to the point where the connections would not re-establish requiring a router reboot. I returned the product for a refund and purchased an eero. So far no drops with the eero.

Bought in hopes of improving range of signal but it was the same as the older e1200 Cisco I was using. Still can't reach the patio just outside my door.

Is ok. Previous Nighthawks we’ve owned have had less issues. Will drop and require reboot often which is annoying.

Buggy interface, slower speeds, and hardware issue

I bought this router based off reviews here but after issue after issue. I thought it was my modem, so I had Spectrum ISP come out and check it and it was fine. The Netgear interface is super buggy, slow, and just outdated compared to it's competitors. After setting up the router using split networks 2.4/5ghz, the 5ghz would be slower than the 2.4 and would constantly drop signal. I did a factory reset multiple times and after a week or so, the 5ghz just vanished. You can look on the netgear forums and see that this is a widespread issue and it seems to help fix that, is to disable majority of features that you paid for. IF you don't believe me, just google 5ghz issues R700P and you'll see countless threads on Netgear forums. https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/R7000P-drops-WIFI-connections-frequently/td-p/1762064 https://community.netgear.com/t5/Nighthawk-WiFi-Routers/Nighthawk-R7000P-5G-wifi-signal-drops/td-p/1875149# I spoke with Netgear and they said they're aware of the issue but no ETA on a fix and that I would have to pay to send it back, and they would RMA it 4-6 weeks which is crazy especially for the amount of money paid for this.

I have always used Netgear and was excited about his wifi-router, but as the router took more traffic it would crash. I read a bunch of blogs and it appears their newest firmware doesn't work well with the MU-MIMO option which i was most excited about. So I had to turn off the MIMO and the router stabilized. I may have to revert the router back to an older firmware. But either way, I was pretty disappointed.

Firmware Update Ruined Brand New Router

Purchased this router today. Brand new, out of the box and Netgear prompts you to upgrade the firmware. This bricked the brand new Netgear router. I immedeatly took it back to Best Buy and thankfully, they were so simple to work with and returned this defective product. I no longer recommend Netgear routers until they fix their firmware updates, they cause unessicary stress when the router stops working and interrupts your daily routine. When your internet doesn't work, it now affects so many aspects and can be quite stressful. I don't recommend Netgear anymore and have switched to Google WiFi, which I purchased from Best Buy. I highly recommend using Best Buy because they always stake care of you!

For the price, I expect a router to last longer than a year and a half. I want a minimum of 5 years and would love 10. This router is expensive and I expect better quality from Netgear! I’m sorry but I can’t really recommend that you buying this router, not unless you want to buy another one in a year or so.

    Great wifi coverage and speed

My current daily wifi router is an r8000 which replaced an r7000 due to slightly better coverage a few far-reaching areas of my home. Because of this, I wasn't expecting a lot out of the r7000p but I must admit I was pleasantly surprised. Setup was simple using the Netgear Up app and Genie app for management on an iOS device. I plugged in the device and waited approximately 3 minutes for it to boot up and easily connected to the default network (network id and password are included on a removable label on top of the device as well as underneath). From there the Up app walks you through the initial device setup and you're online. You can use the Genie app to setup guest networks, parental controls, and other things like that. While the Genie app is sufficient for standard setups, if you want advanced setup controls like port-forwarding, vlans, etc..., the management page at routerlogin.net (which brings up your router when you are on its network) has all of those available. Again, the reason I replaced my original r7000 was because in some corners of my house the 5GHz signal wasn't strong enough so I would have to fall back on 2.4GHz which is not as fast. Surprisingly every location in my house I tested the r7000p was rock solid and performance was on-par with the more expensive and larger r8000. While I have been suggesting the r8000 to people who need a lot of coverage for many devices, it is hard knowing that it is still typically $260-$300. I will now be suggesting the r7000p for those users since the coverage and speed appear to be comparable at a lower price. I received this device for testing as part of the Netgear First Look Review program for free. I do my best to consider all devices as if I had paid the current listed price for them and am in no way compensated for a positive review.

I purchased Netgear Router because Netgear has great reviews and I have an old netgear router N150. New router kept disconnecting gaming and computer. went back and forth with support and still bad. I took router back and hooked up my old one again. Works good without interruption and faster than new one I took back. would not recommend.
