Was not really a fan of this. The setup process sucks. You have to download the mobile app to set it up and found that stupid. Also had issues with it slowing my internet speed down replaced 2 times same issue and left it factory defult.

I had an AC1750 before this one, and this one had the same issues 2 months in. Returned it for an X6s, and that one definitely outperforms this one. This one would be slow, and disconnect often. Same with the AC1750 (r6400 or R6700). The X6s Works great.

The router worked great and was very happy with the range and speed extension at the time. After about 12 months, I started noticing strange behaviors in terms of slowdowns and needing to reset the router more frequently. I would routinely and desperately update the firmware hoping for a fix. By 18 months, it was so slow and inconsistent that I threw it in the trash and bought a competitive product, which has been flawless for my family of 7 in working from home and pandemic school work. This same story was true for the same router that my father bought on my early recommendations. His eventually bought a different competing mesh product. No More Netgear.

This router work for about a year and then the 5g side started dropping out many times a day. I did everything that was suggested on the Netgear website with no luck. Once I found this was likely a hardware problem, my warranty was over. The really unfortunate part is that I recommended this router to a friend back with it was working well...and after about a year his started doing the same. If you Google search "R7000P dropping 5g" you will see a lot of people are having this problem. Overall it's a defective model. Hopefully Netgear's other products are better than this.

The router was promised to work to our satisfaction. It has created dead spots in the home, especially the office which is where it is needed the most. We will have to go back to the drawing board to see what our options are, but we have lost a bit of trust in the "experts" at BB.

I received the NETGEAR Nighthawk AC2300 R700P Router for free as part of a review and test program. Setup: Initial setup of this router was simple. I connected the power and booted up the modem and then the ethernet cable to my existing cable modem. The router prominently displayed a suggestion to use the Netgear Up app to easily configure the router. I downloaded the app; however, found it overly simplified and not particularly useful. For someone with little to no networking experience, it may prove beneficial; however, I did not find it useful. After powering on the router, I logged into the admin portal and configured it to meet my specificiations. Netgear has a consistent interface for all of their modems and routers which made the configuration easy, user-friendly, and familiar. Configuring my NAS, network printer, wireless networks, and LANs took approximately 15 minutes. Rating- A for ease of set-up / configuration C for the Netgear Up app Features: I have used several 4+ routers in the past few years and used to believe that a router was a router for the average home user. As long as it provided consistent and reliable service, I figured I was maxing out my expectations. The Nighthawk R7000P beat my expectations and actually performs better than the more expensive routers I have used in the past. This model has a few features that set it apart from the competition. The overall footprint of the device is quite large, and I would prefer it to be smaller, but it is added gain in WIFI signal is worth the size. Considering most consumer internet speeds are less than 500 MBps, and the Nighthawk R7000P is capable of much faster speeds, the router is more than the average consumer requires, but will future proof you as internet speeds continue to increase. The R7000P’s dual bands are a huge plus. I live in an apartment complex with many WIFI signals so channel interference can be an issue. The use of the 5ghz network, and ability to manually change channels, resolves this issue for me and provide the most consistent speeds possible. The external antenna also improved the reliability and consistency of my signal across my apartment. Overall the device beats my expectations for a consumer router. Rating- A due to the large footprint Performance: I was recently forced to downgrade to 25 MBps from Comcast as Comcast was raising rates in my area. I consistently received speeds of 25+ MBps download and 5+ MBps upload, based upon speedtest.net reports across all of my devices. These tests were performed during high bandwidth usage times (between 5-9 PM), as well as, lower demand times, such as the weekend and weekdays. I have had no instances of dropped connection from either the wireless router. This router has had more consistent and reliable connection to my devices. Data transfer speeds between my NAS and computers has improved in comparison to my previous router. Wired connections have experienced 0 drops in the month I have been utilizing the router. I would like to see additional ethernet ports; however, more than 4 is rare on a consumer router. Rating- A Expectations: The R7000P far exceeded my expectations. It provides reliable, and fast, internet speeds and was simple to setup and utilize. It is truly a set it and forget it device, which is what I am looking for in a cable router. It also has many settings for more experienced home network users who wish to better regulate their LAN/WAN networks. Rating- A Price-Value: At the current price of ~$180, the R7000P represents a compelling value proposition, depending on ones needs. This device is certainly not the cheapest option; however, you get a quality product for your money. If you’re looking for a high quality, device, than the R7000P is for you; however, if you’re looking for the best price, there are likely lower cost options which will meet your needs. If the cost was lower, I would have rated the R7000P five stars. Rating- B Recommendation: I would definitely recommend the R7000P to friends and family. The router is a quality product that should remain compatible, relevant, and last for years to come. This has been the best performance I’ve encountered from a router that I have owned in the past 5 years.

3 reasons not to buy this router

    1. The remote access on the mobile app does not work, even when you enable remote access from the router configuration. 2. The router frequently locks up and turns off wifi. Not good if you are 4 hours into your week long trip and find out that you can't see your security cameras or set your tstat. Router requires frequent reboots 3. The "security" that this thing touts is actually a subscription that you have to pay for on top of the price of the router, which was already too much to begin with

absolute crap. Bought it in July. Have had non stop issues with the internet not working. I blamed it on Spectrum. They sent out a tech. Completely replaced the cables to my house, all the way to the modem. Verified that I had good internet signal. Still had issues with internet stopping. Constantly having to reset the Nighthawk to get it back. Finally today It just started constantly dropping internet. Says wifi is good but no internet. However, I broke out my old wifi router and plugged it back in. Guess what? Internet is there. I using my old wifi router in the mean time. Avoid this junk at all cost.

    R7000P wifi keeps dropping intermittently

I bought this device(R7000P) two months ago. They worked fine for a while, Then suddenly the WIFI kept dropping. The Netgear provided a new device new device through RMA for which shipping cost you have to bear. Then with the new device experienced similar problem and on investigation found that the 5 GHz band WIFI drops intermittently. Netgear does not have proper solution for this and asking me to get a RMA and bear the cost for which I am not responsible. I have been in hours and hours of tech support and wasted my time . Really Netgear made this very inconvenient in this time where we work form home.
