Don’t buy

For some reason the router would turn off and on multiple times a day causing me to lose WiFi from 5 minutes to sometimes hours. Had geek squad come out twice and spectrum once until I finally just returned it and bought a different on. What made it so bad is that my house doesn’t have cell service so we have to use WiFi calling so it’s very important to have consistent WiFi

Works fine but very difficult to set up

Very little instructions and the instructions are not correct. There is no access to tech support in the instructions. The tech support from my ISP helped me out. Once I got it set up it seems to work fine.

DO NOT BUY! Had to be returned!

When I first set it up, the interface was so buggy, I had to keep the thing on a specific firmware version, or it would be absolutely buggy. After 6 months of having the unit, I came home one day to find it flashing a bunch of lights, and I had no internet what do ever! I was talking to Netgear, and they had me go though some troubleshooting steps, but it wouldn’t go. So I ended up returning the thing, and got another model of router.

Poor performance

I called Netgear tech support and they told me that it was defective. Thank goodness i was able to exchange it at best buy for a 2 in 1 modem/router. ...easier to set up

Keeps failing

Really wanted this to work

Unfortunately I had to return it. Not saying it’s not a good item, just saying it didn’t work with my cable equipment. They could have connected it wrong for all I know.

Wold not 'register using my Mac book. Had to use a PC to 'register' product? Said nothing about that in set up instructions

Horrible router

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this router on Nov.15,20 less then a month ago and it already has stopped working, the app would show the internet as off-line and I restarted it several times, still no internet so I tried to reinstall the equipment, the motem and router will not link up & I have spent several hours fixing the problem & cannot fix it. Sadly I will have to return the router & go with a different brand. The App will not let sign back on for some reason.

Unstable, poor support
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This router exhibited the same behavior I have had from other recent Netgear routers: the wireless signal will slow down to virtually nothing, then come back to proper speeds when it jolly-well feels like it. Support was a joke of being left on "HOLD", and then dealing with people who know nothing but how to read cue screens. I returned it, bought a cheaper router from Linksys to get back up and running again, and that is that. The price on this is crazy for what you get, and even if it were free, it is useless as a wireless router.

Netgear Disappointment

I had Geek Squad bring a second one to my home. I paid $50 to have an in home set up. But, that one was inoperable, as well. I chose this router because of the great reviews and opinions of my peers. When I called the Netgear help line, the connection was terrible and I could not understand the technician.

Unreliable wireless

Connected by ethernet is wonderful but the wireless connection on 5G and regular drops constantly. extremely unreliable for such an expensive product.

looks good but not worth it

NOT WORTH THE MONEY!!!

Hooked it up. Within a 2 hour span, it rebooted itself twice. I called tech support, was on hold for about 45 minutes. They had me reboot, following their instructions exactly, and said it should be fixed. Nope. Rebooted again about an hour later for no apparent reason. Had to box it back up and go back to my more reliable Spectrum router, which is a sad truth. WAY too many minutes of my life wasted on this garbage. Bad product, bad service.

They barely last a year!

This is the second R7000P that has lasted less than a year. These things should last at least 5 years. I'm done with Netgear

Steer away from Netgear

I bought a new one, thinking it was just worn out, but the new router did the same thing. Through research on their website forums I found that this router errors off the most recent update and the error will cause this behavior and they haven't bothered to fix this problem. Unless you set the router to manually update and prevent the latest update from downloading to the router, the router will fail on you, buy a different one.

Requires Periodic ReBoot to Maintain Connectivity

The router will not hold internet connectivity and requires a reboot every 3 to 10 days. ISP signal is consistent and strong. Once I reached out to NETGEAR, they acknowledged the issue; so do numerous online comments once you search. NETGEAR provided a fix (patch and setting changes). Haven't applied fix yet; for $150 - $200 piece of equipment, it should work the first time!

Good when it's working
