    Only lasted 6 months before having issues with the 5Ghz channel. Now it doesn't work at all and is just a $200 paperweight. Seems to be a common problem with these and Netgear has no idea how to fix it. It worked good when it actually worked, but I would think it would last a lot longer for the price. Very disappointed in this Netgear product and I would not recommend purchasing it.

    Not happy. Bought this, got it home and instantly had issues with low data speeds. Wired or wireless we could not get more than 35 mbps download when off the modem we were getting 2.2 gigs. Contacted costumer support and talked with them for 3 hours with no fixes. Returned for the google mesh system that was easy to set up with great coverage and speeds both wired and wireless.

    I am upset by the fact that my last Netgear router went out as soon as the warranty was up and had to buy another! I was refused an exchange!

    This is the worse router I have ever had. Never completes it's own firmware updates. Netgear tech support is garbage, wants to always blame the issue on something else. Had this thing for less than 7 months and it will not register the internet being pushed to it from the modem. I definitely would not recommend.

    A little background, I manage datacenters for a ~ $500,000,000/yr company and have extensive high-level systems and network knowledge. So Shame on me for buying a consumer based router. Purchase 07/05/2019 from local BB Unit Failed 08/04/2019 and after much run around was RMA'd by NETGEAR RMA Unit failed 08/302019 Netgear refuses to assist nor make the situation right. Bestbuy wont help. Avoid.

    Purchased this to replace an older router and to provide wifi coverage throughout my 3000 sq ft home. Despite many (repeat many) frustrating attempts to get this to work, it failed to provide wifi. Assume it had to be a defective unit. I returned it to Best Buy and exchanged it for the 1900 which I have been extremely pleased with.

    When I bought this the employee at Best Buy said this is the best for nextlight internet (1gig) service. It’s struggling to keep my smart tv and iPad going on a wireless connection.... not impressed at all, more like a waste of money, would not recommend to anyone or Best Buy employees advice either. Waste of time

    This wireless router is no better than my previous router that is 10 years old. If my son is on his xbox live then other family members can not used the WiFi for uploading or downloading a file. The WiFi connection is slow for other devices. Therefore it doesn’t work well for multiple devices. I wish I had returned it before I threw my box away. Too expensive!

    Worked for less than a year, called customer/tech support and they wanted $50+ just to talk to me and potentially diagnose if it's a hardware problem. As in, I had to give my credit card number over the phone before he would even begin to diagnose the issue. And IF (strong if) it happened to be a hardware issue, they would "potentially" replace the unit. I promise you, AVOID NETGEAR ALTOGETHER.

    After following the instructions and failing to install the router I called tech support who failed as well and told me the product was defective and to return it to the store. Repeat again, and I finally called a professional to install it, who had to go through a different protocol than netgear gave to get any wireless connection. It still continually drops the 5G connection.

    My mistake was to continue using the older router. I waited too late to try to connect this one which will not stay on. My mistake...It's too late to return it. That doesn't say this brand is not a good router. My modem is a Netgear which I purchased in Feb of this year. It works great. I just thought I could use the same brand for a router. It won't stay on.

    Constantly drops wifi for connected devices. Reset, firmware update, channel changes did nothing. Netgear tries to charge you over 80 dollars to provide any support. Device less than a year old. Find another router, preferably with a different company that doesn't try to make you pay to get help with a clearly faulty product.

    Bricked again (third one)

    Purchased Dec 28, turned into a brick on May 13. This is the third nighthawk I have had and never gotten more than 2 years on any of them. Last night it suddenly dropped all dns resolution and upon power cycling it just repeats a pattern of lights. Factory reset does not work. Investigating other brands at this time.

    MU-MIMO does not work

    After three months of use the wifi has stopped working completely. The major selling point of this router was the MU-MIMO functionality and it was spotty at best. I had to turn off that function to get wifi to work after about a month in to owning the product. after a brief look on Netgear's website it seems that these are common issues with this model.

    I am a fan of Netgear router, and that's the reason that I bought this one. Unfortunately it disconnected internet at least once a day. No improvement of reset the router and install latest firmware. Planning to return the product if no improvement after working with Netgear support.
