Messy Updates
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The router itself is great. I love everything about it. However, NetGear seems to not be testing its firmware updates before pushing them out to the devices. Cut my Internet Speed from 500 to 40 - Yes, I have troubleshooted everything...I am an enterprise engineer.

Terrible.
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Probably the worst router I’ve ever purchased. Consistently rebooting while I’m in the middle of streaming playing video games doing some thing. Absolute garbage never purchased the merchandise ever. I spoke with my Internet company they said it’s not on them it is solely on the router itself

run away from this scam of a product!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had netgear routers for years, but this will be my last! All the features it says it comes with are there at first, but then they want to charge you a monthly fee to keep them! You'd think for the big price tag you would get basic security! What a SCAM!!! But hey, at least you get more spam! Run away! Do not buy!

Piece of crap will never buy Netgear
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product lasted me less than a year. The Wi-Fi range is not great either. I live in a 1700 square foot house. I read up on Google nest and although it's considerably more expensive, it's head and shoulders above this Netgear Wi-fi router. If you are going to buy this router, make sure to get the warranty because I'm sure it won't last long.

Frustrating
||Posted . Owned for 10 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Spouse bought this to control what everyone in the family could access through wifi. When I spoke with a representative to regain control of my devices they could not help me as the password was changed. If you want to take control of what others can do it is a great device but if you aren't in control of it watch out.

Easy to use, lots of features
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The router was easy to set up, either with the Netgear UP app or through the web interface. I tried both methods and was done in just a few minutes. One thing to remember is that you’ll have to turn off your ISP’s router function (not just the wifi) so that the Nighthawk is used as the router to make the dynamic QOS work. I used this router instead of the Uverse router. The Uverse box was set so that it was only used as a modem. Wifi and router (including NAT, DMZ, and firewall functions) were turned off. My experience with the Wifi on the Nighthawk product was similar to my experience with other MUMO devices. If the client device supports it, it’s great. Gives you that little bit of additional bandwidth, especially on the local network, to make things feel a bit quicker. If you have some people in your house that want to watch Netflix while others download files from work, the Dynamic QoS feature works suprisingly well. I was able to watch a movie while my wife moved large files to and from her work Google Drive account. That wasn’t as easy with just the basic Uverse router/wifi access point we were using. It won’t increase your bandwidth, so don’t expect miracles if everyone in the house is trying to watch a movie. Another nice feature is the ReadyShare USB storage access. Just plug in a USB drive and start accessing it from the network. I’ve used this on other Netgear devices, and it’s a just a basic network drive. It’s really useful to have, especially when you attach to your ReadyCLOUD account. That way you’re able to backup your phone’s pictures remotely without paying extra for more iCloud storage. This thing is a somewhat bulky and looks like something out of a Robocop movie, so make sure you’re prepared to either put it on display or have a good place to hide it. I tried it on the top of a bookshelf and in an interior networking closet, and it gave plenty of range for a 2500 sq. ft. home. Overall, I’d recommend this thing as a step up from your ISP’s rental. Depending on how much you’re paying a month for it, the Nighthawk version pays for itself pretty quickly. It has a lot of neat features that are simple to setup and to use. I was given the device free of charge in exchange for my honest review.

Worked ok for a while
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was notified of firmware update, clicked the button, for locked up on install. No amount of rebooting or factory reset will bring it back. When I get time will see if I can figure out a way to get in and go back to old firmware, but right now doesn't work at all. 2 months old...

Great Performance and Easy Setup.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Setup was very simple. After unpacking and installing the antennas it is ready to connect to your modem. After joining the network with the password on the bottom of the router it is very straight forward. The instructions recommend using the NETGEAR UP app for your phone. The app shows that you are connected, what other devices are connected, and what IP addresses are assigned to them. This is handy troubleshooting information to see which of your various devices connected. The default IP was different than my previous network and instead of changing some of my device IPs, I wanted to change the IP of the wifi router. There is an app for that as well (NETGEAR genie) or you can go into the router directly via webpage. The genie webpage is easy to use and allows for advanced configuration and setup if needed. After changing the IP and a quick reboot my network all of my devices were now happy (I have a wired printer and NAS with static IP addresses). Now with everything up and running I wanted to see how it performed. My previous wifi network would lag if I had multiple large tasks running. For example, if I had a backup running over wifi from my laptop to my networked storage other devices would noticeably slow down when trying to use the internet. My first attempt was to backup a ~5 GB file and then stream a video from another computer at the same time. No issues at all, so I added another HD video streaming to my cellphone over wifi at the same time and it still did not display any lagging issues. All that was done with all devices on the same band. As for range I could not detect any dead spots in my house. I used to have a slight one if I sat on the porch behind the rock wall fireplace but that is gone. With the AC23000 2.5 GHz network I show full signal strength in that location. I would say I am impressed with this wifi router and I do not think I will come close to taxing its capabilities. I would recommend anyone looking for a new wifi router with demanding needs to give this one a close look. I did not purchase this router and I did receive the Nighthawk AC2300 WiFi Router free from Netgear as part of the F&F program.

Waste of Money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After reading all the reviews I gave this product benefit of the doubt; Low and behold previous reviews were accurate. It was a complete waste of money as product description does not stand up to its own expectations. Maybe if you had an 800 ft² flat it would work perfectly otherwise it is complete garbage. Keep on shop in my friends there is something much better than this.

Should work better for the price
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not impressed. We have our WiFi drop out frequently even thought the lights on the router make it look like everything is fine. I do like the Nighthawk phone app that works with this, but there are some issues I cannot figure out. I've worked with my ISP and they say they are not the issue.

Garbage
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not Netgears fault per se, but the MU-MIMO is a disaster and now I can’t return it. It’s a $200 paperweight. Just research this online and you’ll find pages and pages of people with no resolution. I’d avoid anything from Netgear with MU-MIMO. I went back to my Spectrum router and it works just fine.

Have Always Had Good Luck with NETGEAR products
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had my last NETGEAR router for over 5 years until it quit after a lightning strike near my home. I bought this router as its replacement. Router worked great for 4 days then quit. I called NETGEAR and their customer service was poor. He told me just to return it. I would not recommend this particular NETGEAR product.

Dissapoonted.
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the worst router I have ever purchased. Brand new router with all the ports locked. I called Netgear for two good days to try unlock the ports and to this day, I still got one locked port. The router keeps going on and off. Dissapointed with this purchase, overhyped for no reason.

Dropped connections
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Dropped connections several times within 3 days. Sometimes wifi connection stays up but no internet. Other times wifi drops for a while then come back on. Tried latest firmware, turning off QoS, no luck. If you search for this issue you will see many others have this issue. Returned it. Went back to my old Asus router, no problems with it.
