Works well except with VPN

It completely fixed buffering issues my old router had which caused freezing while streaming. On the downside it dropped the connection when using the Norton VPN frequently. The solution was involved and would have required reinstalling 3 TV’s and 2 phones to the network, so I skipped it for now and may revisit it in the future.

No Issues

Unsure if you can set it up without the nighthawk mobile app. I used the nighthawk router app to let it guide me through installation; and I'm glad I did because a number of troubleshooting steps are more or less obsolete, as a quick check with your mobile will tell you whether it is functioning correctly or not. Not that any issues arose that required any troubleshooting. Just saying it's extremely handy to have some of the router's functions in your palm.
