It’s dead Jim!

Lost power and will not turn on. Simply died. It’s now a brick. Emailed Netgear and They never got back to me. They made a lemon and will not stand by what they make. Great company that ignores its customers when they sell a piece of garbage. NEVER AGAIN!!!

Poor support

I had to reboot the device multiple times to get it through the set up process. Trying to get a Netgear support person to help was impossible. I was sent a firmware up date the other day. The firmware update keeps failing. I finally got hold of a Netgear representative who told me I have to connect my computer to the router and I need an Ethernet connection. I have an Apple computer that I now have to purchase an Ethernet toggle for. Also the range of the product is way over stated, I notice little if any improvement over my old Apple Airport Express. Really a complete disappointment considering the money spent. Netgear should reimburse me the cost of the Ethernet toggle.

After a year of use it constantly drops internet connection. I have to reboot it over and over again. Silly such an expensive router lasted only 1 year!

Good looking and unreliable.

Firmware updates never fixed the issues I has. Connectivity kept dropping ethernet and wifi all at the same time for a few seconds mutiple times a day. Sent it back moved to Asus after this being my second netgear router hoping it would have been as good as my first.

Poor quality

Second continual rebooted and froze on its own. Third needs to be powered off and reset about every 3-4 days. I am a very experienced user and have a lot of experience setting up home networks. There are absolute hardware issues and still many software issues. It is indeed fast when it works, but don’t expect that to be more than a few days at a time- if it works at all.

Poor build quality

I was willing to ignore the dismal support for previous products from this company to get better performance and coverage. But the high end price for this product was not reflected in the product itself. The plastic is flimsy at best and the "wings" do not stay in place. Any nudge made them flop back down and almost seem an afterthought. The docs say it's not intended to be wall mounted, but there are slots on the bottom for just that. If not to wall mount, what are they for? I could not stomach what I saw knowing what I payed for it, this was returned.

Complete trash

Four months after purchasing this thing started dropping the internet. Now at 9 months it doesn't want to connect at all. Numerous resets and power cycles. It will work for all but 10 mins before the light turns orange and won't connect. Going to try to return. For the cost of this thing you'd think it would work better than my period $100 wifi router. I'd rate this lower than a 1 star if I could.

After dozens of hours with Netgear support, I could never get this to work correctly. Netgear customer service is deplorable. Frequent drops and outages, poor IPv6 support for smart home products. Frustrated with BestBuy and Netgear. By the time you try and work things through with Netgear, BestBuy return window closed. Caused issues with home security system, smart smoke detectors, frequent dropped video call sessions. I could no longer rely on this product to support my work at home business.

Didn’t last a month

Router stopped working so I went to our media room to reset it and I smelled a burning smell (like plastic smell, or electric motor burning up). I went to reset the router and it was hit to touch. I unplugged it and am taking it back. I plugged my old router back in and it worked fine. Not sure if I will return to get my money back or exchange for a new one as others reviews convinced me to purchase this even though it was 3x more expensive that my last one. Netgear, I hope you look into this as it could cause a fire.

Not worth the Money DO NOT BUY!

Get a different brand. The have had IPV6 not being supported issues with the Nighthawk router models due to the last firmware update back in May. To date they still have not fixed it. I would not spend money on any Netgear products since they seem to have developed IPV6 issues and I guess they are regarding them a non important issues. Not good news for Gamers ! Many complaints on their community but no solutions.

Updated firmware from within the program. Became completely unstable and unusable. Not possible to recover it. Netgear is simply undependable. This router was FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS! Disconnect. old NIC card cant see wifi

Only to find out it caused more problems than it solved. Everything i booted my pc. It would connect but no internet. i would have to reconnect to get the internet back. My desktop had NIC card couldn't find the router until i turned off the AX feature in the router. and every now an then the WiFi would drop and i would lose all connection throughout the house. I returned it. not worth keeping for 500 dollars!

ABSOLUTE GARBAGE

Router will not recognize the Internet unless it is connected directly to modem, ok fine. Router won't pass the Internet through a NETGEAR GS108 switch, so you are limited to only ever being able to use the dinky little built in 4 port switch.
