My first purchase had some bugs, but after some troubleshooting we were able to get it replaced. The replacement so super fast to set up, with great options to segregate my networks and automatically balance traffic between the different bands. Since setting up the replacement, my streaming has been blazing fast, and everyone is happy with the service.

I totally love this unit! My household is what you would call a heavy user! I have had many units fail to meet the need and even more perish due to the high demand! This baby is easy to set up, has built in cooling fans, and can easily handle what ever is thrown at it. Range is fantastic, my house is a 2 story 2400 sqft. Would highly recomend.

This router solved our problems not only with range but more importantly, the throughout and being able to manage multiple video conferencing streams and games running at the same time. Can finally take advantage of the bandwidth that I’m paying for. Our house is a ranch style house with internet router stuck at one end.

This is no doubt a nice piece of gear, but the cost to value @$500 is really steep, so taking 1 stars alone for that. Another 1/2 star for the foldable wings design. While it looks trendy / sleek its seems it would be prone to damage easily as they dont glide or open smoothly- but rather awkwardly unfolds and closes only after its extended and seems quirky. Wait, try to catch it on sale, which would be certain a good buy if $100 less or more.

First off I have Comcast the worst cable service in history. I get 150 MB’s per second or at least that’s what it’s suppose to be getting... when I plugged up this router it literally jumped my mb up to 300-250mb per second definitely worth it. Not to meant 5.0 g and the 6 WiFi’s you can have. Talk about a flex

This router supplied adequate speeds (considering it's absorbent price) but since day 1 the 2.4ghz network would just randomly crash. This wasn't the biggest issue as most of my devices I had connected to either two of the 5ghz band but most smart devices don't connect to that so things like my Wemos would stop working which was somewhat annoying. I lived with it though thinking maybe with it being newer it would fix itself with an update. This was in May and then in December it started to lose all internet. You would have to reboot the router 5-6 times over the course of 30+ minutes and then it would reconnect. This lasted for a few days and then it would fail again. And since starting to work from home again I could not keep fighting with this router. That's annoying for any router but for the price of this - I would advise to look at the Asus AX11000, save the extra money, and you get a router that has mesh capabilities so you can hook up another Asus mesh capable router and have amazing whole home coverage. Thankfully Best Buy could handle the defective device warranty in store so I could get a different device.

I bought this router to replace a very old Apple Airport/Time Capsule which has served us well but I feared might quit at any moment. I wanted to future-proof and go with a very advanced unit so I sought out one of the newest and most expensive units available at Best Buy. I thought this would address two specific issues that I had with the old unit, one being speed/bandwidth and the other being reception at points in the house farthest from the device. To summarize -- this is been the most glitchy and totally unreliable tech product I have purchased in recent years. To add insult to injury, I got an alert yesterday from within the kludgy and unintuitive mobile app to inform me that free tech support (which I was just about to reach out to for help with this train-wreck of a product) actually ended yesterday. So, instead of calling for not-free tech support I decided to write this review instead. In the eight years we used the Apple Time Capsule I can attest that I never, ever, experienced random lost connections to wifi in my house, and can't recall the other three members of the family ever mentioning they had a device lose the wifi signal. With this Nighthawk device, we are dropped from wifi CONSTANTLY. Like every day, many times, every device. I finally told my family to please stop even telling me and try to cope, because I'm past the return period and seriously doubt I'm going to drop another $600 on a different router any time soon. When I am connected and manage to do the right pirouettes within the optimal reception zone, the download speed is faster than my old router and seems to meet the throughput spec advertised on the box. However, for being almost a decade newer than my old one, I expected it to have better reception at points farthest from the machine. Nope, it's actually worse, much worse. The net impact of the bad reception is that this performs as a far slower router than my old Time Capsule in many parts of my home. Don't even get me started on the mobile app that supposedly gives you wonderful remote management tools. It attempts to show you what devices are connected at any given time, but it's totally glitchy and devices that are actually connected will constantly pop in and out of the list on the mobile app. Every time I refresh the screen I get a different list. Totally useless in every respect. Printers? Don't get me started. Family of four here, two parents working from home at this point, we have a number of printers in the house. This router drops the signal from printers *constantly* (it's not like the printers move by the way, they sit there on a desk in one place). It's even worse though -- given dynamic IP addressing, the printer may fix it's own connection but then when I go to print from my Mac the printer is either gone or shows that it's not connected (because it probably got a new IP address). I don't know how to fix this, nor do I really want learn, I just want it to work. AGAIN, we NEVER, ever had this problem with the same exact printers with the Apple Time Capsule. Like ever. The cool looking wings are flimsy. Every time I touch it to try to reposition hoping to get a better signal I feel like I'm going to break it. So here I am about three months into wishing I hadn't bought this, seriously regretting the purchase ($600!!), and finally gathering the fortitude for what promises to be a long and frustrating call to tech support, and I am told that free tech support has ended for me. Why bother even telling me? It's available if I want to PAY for an ongoing subscription?? I'm sorry but I'm not going to pay you, Netgear, to help me with your crappy product starting on day 91 of ownership. Sheesh! I'll save my money for a new router (from a competitor) instead and look forward to the day when I can lob this one into a dumpster. Best Buy -- these do not deserve precious space on you shelf and you should seriously hold Netgear accountable for the lame policy of ending free tech support at only 90 days of ownership. Especially on a router at this price point!! Aargh.

It matches the best fiber optic internet out there. Make sure you get the mesh extender if you’ve got a big house hold and lots of devices. Definitely make sure your internet provider can provide the high speed that this equipment can handle or it’s not worth it. No lag time and no interruptions.

I am a long time Linksys router user and switch to this netgear router after many web base articles. Switching from dual band to tri band is not a direct swap of the existing gear. It require some initial thinking for the optimized setup combing with the not so intuitive user interface, I decided to switch back to Linksys dual band system. I got the AX5400 and have great upgrade result.
