I have been running a home network for years now with mostly Apple products. My son was complaining about his ping while gaming so we decided to upgrade to what we thought was a faster router. This is probably the worst product I have ever purchased. Installation was fine and quick. It worked for a while but then had trouble finding itself on the network. The number of connected devices is consistently wrong. Notably, the download/upload speeds are blazing fast, but only if using the Nighthawk app. When a third party app is used (see below), transfer rate drops dramatically. I have the distinct impression that the Nighthawk app is padding its numbers. After about a week, my Canon printer decided to disappear and now I have no way to print. I should note that my speed using an Apple Airport was roughly 390mbps over wireless. AT&T 1G fiber. Over Nighthawk, get the same on the Nighthawk App but on the same apps I used to benchmark the Apple product (Net Analyzer and Speedsmart) the both report roughly 120mbps. I just wasted three hours fussing with the Canon printer that is still no where to be found even though clearly connected to the router.

Router works fine most of the time. My complaint is with setup and the app. You can only access the router through the app which only works half the time. I've had to do hard resets on the router several times when the app attempts to update the router due to an error in the update install. I think it's a great idea to have an app, but there should still be access through hard line to the computer which is much faster and effecient. I would not buy anything from Netgear again that requires setup through the app.

I replaced older 14 yr old Apple router. I have had no issues with this router, plus its kinda kool to look at. I have a 800 mg internet (work from home) and this has improved my wireless connections all around.

Have had this for a few months, and it works perfectly. The setup took a little longer than expected, but after that everything has worked flawlessly. Glad to have made the upgrade to WiFi 6!

One of the best reliable routers I've had to date. It enhances basic knowledge in Networking by providing brief explanation in every page. Extremely scalable can easily handle a handful of devices on a home network.

Cons: if you are using a high speed modem, and you are getting 400 -500 DL speeds,, you will need to call Netgear for the proper settings to achieve 70% of that speed.. you will need to create a ticket # from the start for faster support. Awesome router once it is set up for your needs!!!!

After upgrading my home internet to 400mbps, I found the cable supplied wi-fi lacking. I purchased the Nighthawk over the holidays and my son installed it within a few hours. Everyone was very happy with the new connections.

There are 4 of us working from home these days. Until I upgraded my router to the AX5400, lags were the order of the day. Now, none of us notice when the others are on line - we have smooth coverage all over the house and plenty of access. FANTASTIC!

Probably a decent product, but after what was apparently a COX issue and not the Netgear router, I purchase an all in one ARRIS modem/router. Much happier with less clutter with the ARRIS. Just sayin'

It was easy to setup initially but the first firmware update I did was kind of buggy. Fortunately another update has been released and since then there are none(sometimes the router would not sync correctly to the cable modem all of the time on reboots)

Bought this 11 months ago. It wasn't easy for a novice like me to set up and the APP made it more difficult. After about 90 days we started having the internet connectivity start dropping and we would have to unplug, power off or reboot the router to get it to run again. This causes real problems for our student taking classes and zoom calls. Then yesterday the router completely died. The app that only connects via wifi doesn't help when the wifi shuts off on the router. As a result I had a real expensive paper weight. A neighbor of mine is an IT person for a fortune 500 company and he looked at it and couldn't get it to respond and told me it is dead, go get something else. Pretty sad that a $300 router doesn't last 12 months in a home environment. This was the first netgear product that I had purchased and could be my last. Other reviews I have read on other sites have had the same dropping issues. What a joke

I really like this router. Had some difficulty with the wireless portion to get other computers connected -- found at the end to download app and do the firmware update -- everything worked then. This is alot faster that my previous Nighthawk.

Great bandwidth and it has extended my reception to all areas in my house and reaching outside too. Great product. The only issue was during the set up process it took some time to connect the unit with the laptop then the app.
