DO NOT waste your time with this router. The speeds are inconsistent. You cannot update your qos data base. It won't let you save your qos settings which is a huge deal if you are a gamer or YouTube broadcaster. It went straight back to Best Buy which is unfortunate because I live an hour away

The router keeps crashing. Losing internet and the only way to get it back is to restart it. Problem is that loses the logs as well. Netgear support was useless.

I bought this specifically because it said it supported VLANs. Come to find out, too late to return, that it does some obscure WAN VLANing. Worthless. Could not segregate my network it secure segments.

I get it that you are paying a premium for the the new wifi standards compliance. I went old school and set this up thru the web interface 192.168.1.1 for CSPIRE fiber. First thing i noticed was a web interface that took me back to guis of years past. Not at all like the slick and cool interface of the Asus 3100ac, which I had to replace as it was deteriorating after 3 years of being brutalized by 4 kids. Nevertheless, it was pretty simple to set up. I can't comment about using the phone app to do this. I was trying to future proof my setup a bit, and have very few devices for the new protocols so far. As far as I can tell, I can get a pretty good signal even out in my yard for 2.4. outside, through several wall, and maybe 70 feet away, i can get 35 Mbps. range seems pretty good, about on par with the Asus. I am running several video streams, some cams, smart lighting, online gaming, etc., and it seems to be pretty stable so far. the Nighthawk app is pretty basic. It is not quite as polished or sophisticated as the Asus app. there are some setup options, some monitoring options, etc. You can set up the Bit Defender security options there, guest network, wifi parameters, and importantly, the pause/start options for devices-to make the kids go to bed by threatening to turn of their devices' net access, lol. This works fairly well. It does not have the ability to group devices into subgroups (ie one for each child) so I grouped together by putting aa , bb in front of the names, which can be edited. All of this seems to work fairly well even though it looks dated. As far as the performance on speed tests and real world feel, this seems to feel pretty similar to the AC3100. I'm stressing it pretty hard today and it has been nice and stable and no lag or buffering at all. I'm pretty happy with how it performs. One thing to consider, the casing looks well ventilated, but you can see inside thru the vents, and one thing i noticed was no heatsink on the cpu. I have always been concerned about routers overheating in the past, thus I am concerned about durability, especially since I haven't found (yet) a way to monitor temperature. As far as I can tell, it doesn't seem to be getting very hot, at least on the casing. You are getting only one usb 3 port. Build quality a bit concerning as the whole thing is so light.

Pros: -more advanced setup than others, which gives a few more options -okay range -decent access with the app Cons: -not as reliable as it should be for this much money -Good security is an extra subscription fee -Parental controls are an extra subscription fee -app is glitchy -poor options in guest network management Overall, not remotely worth the cost. Get something cheaper that offers the essentials of security and parental controls included. Very disappointed.

A Solid Reliable Router with Good Speeds.

I have a 1200 square foot house with lots of corners and my signal was solid throughout the house. My devices that can take advantage of WIFI6 had a considerably more noticeable speed than when connected to WIFI5. I had 36 to 42 devices connected to the router at a time and never experienced a slowdown. I only stream TV and do not have cable or satellite TV while my kid games on a PC and my wife is constantly online. Netgear has done a good job of simplifying setup processes. I received and tested the beta version of the RAX50 router at no cost and this is my honest review.

We were asked to test out Netgear Nighthawk AX5400. We are not technicians and prior to this upgrade, we were a family of 4 using Nighthawk X4 on items such as IPads, cell phones..... It was a bit challenging to install. We installed one evening, following directions but could not get it to complete. Decided to wait till morning to call for help. But in the morning, it was working and hasn't had a problem. Right now, just 2 of us are using this product. We can see a big difference in response time. Our service provider is Xfinity, our download is 592.20 and upload is 18.22. Tried to compare to the X4 (which we couldn't) but we know AX5400 is definitely faster. We've always had a fire wall so I can not say much about the Armor Cyber Security, just that we still feel secure and protected. We've been streaming and using Zoom recently and everything has been great. I would recommend this product.

Overall, I am really impressed with the AX 5400. Below are a few things to highlight: * The radio is incredibly strong. Dead spots in my garage are gone, and I can finally use multiple devices streaming 4K videos without buffering. * The wireless network feels like it is twice as responsive as my previous setup. Previously, I had older WiFi routers with at least 12 devices connected at any given time. Nothing seems to be waiting to load, hanging, or suffering from laggy behavior like it did on my last wifi setup. The AX Technology seems to be working as advertised. * The cyber security add on is a plus. I don’t have much use for it in my current set up, but it is a nice addition by Netgear * Importantly, the setup is pretty straightforward and can be completed even by the least tech savvy people. The directions are well written and I did not encounter any errors by following them. Fundamentally, it does this very well with WiFi and wired connections. I am very pleased with this router and think it’s great value for the latest technology! Note that I have received this router to test from the Netgear F&F program, so this is my review for the device.
