Set up was easy, you get emails on firmware updates, and the signal strength is amazing. Plus you can’t beat 307mbps download and 332mbps upload.

Was looking around for a new router to compliment our fiber internet connection. In order to somewhat future proof ourselves I wanted the new standard of WiFi even though we can’t really use it yet. Being it’s so powerful and we have 15+ devices connected to it the router doesn’t skip a beat. This router handles all the network traffic with ease, internal cooling fan doesn’t even need to come on.
Seems like this router will work just fine for us.

This is the one to get, beats every router that I’ve had hands down. Simple setup with greater area coverage than any around.

Make sure to download the app first for the setup. Make sure to update the firmware or the fan that’s built in keeps running. Once that’s done things for me ran smoothly. I definitely setup the guest network with a simple password in case the router gives me problems. Oh by the way the first one stopped working at my house after two weeks. Online Netgear support couldn’t help fix the issue even after full reset so I had to exchange it. The second one seems to be holding up.

I bought this router to improve speed and coverage in my home. It was fast..within 10 feet of the unit!! But my TV which is 30 feet away in a very open house (cathedral ceilings) would NOT stream without slow downs/ stopping . Tried everything that I could had my ISP visit to troubleshoot...NO problem on the ISP input the router simply could NOT broadcast a strong signal!! A BIG disappointment from Netgear's EXPENSIVE product.
Could not recommend this product.

Router may not actually be an 802.11ax router!

The Netgear website for the RAX80 states the following: "This router may not support all the mandatory features as ratified in Draft 3.0 of IEEE 802.11AX specification". It may. It may not. You don't know. So, buyer beware.
Furthermore, as there are NO 802.11ax clients right now, all you are buying (and are able to test) is an expensive 802.11ac router!

So I went from the google WiFi as 2 of the nodes stopped working (could not connect to the internet, even when hard wired in) so I decided to just Future proof and get an AX router. Like in the title it’s doing what it’s supposed to do, I don’t know about the WiFi 6 aspect of it as I don’t have any AX devices. But wireless speeds have went from 300Mbp to 650Mbp on my iPhone XS Max. So we will see later in time.

So much faster than our previous router, which was only a year old and cost considerably more. Installing this router was quick and almost intuitive - you use an app on your iPhone or Android to do the setup, and the app is super-slick. We were able to set up our wired network and wireless networks in just minutes, with absolutely no trouble. Wireless coverage is excellent throughout a large 2-story house. This router isn't cheap, but it's absolutely worth the price.
