Very fast router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the AX8 to replace an older R7000 Nighthawk. I wanted something that supports Wifi6/AX. The AX8 provides improved coverage area and great speed to all devices. I can get 500+mbps to wireless devices including non-AX devices. Great performance and I like that Netgear supports upgrades for new features as a way to future proof. The AX8 does have a cooling fan but it does not run all the time. The unit runs warm but so far has not gotten hot enough to turn on the fan.

Still drops my outdoor cam connection
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this to address the connection issue with an outdoor camera but it was still dropping at random times but mostly at night. Upgraded my internet service thinking it was bandwidth issue but it was not. Ended up getting a WiFi extender and that did the trick. Why this router was still getting spotty connection when it’s only 25 feet from the camera is beyond me. I ended up keeping since my prior router is getting old. A WiFi extender would be a cheaper option only if I did. It need to upgrade the router.

Not worth the price, older models perform better
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced my nighthawk R7000 with this one due to Wireless network connections dropping and constant small wireless lags. My family loves to stream YouTube videos and so whenever I wanted to play online games, I would get lag issues using the old nighthawk. I trusted the Best Buy associate when he recommended the AX8 router over an extreme gaming router. Well at first everything seemed fine then the lags started. I even tested the connection when all other devices we’re logged off the network but the lag issues still remain. At first I thought it was my modem or internet connect. I had Comcast come out and check everything. Low and behold it’s my router. By time I determined it was my router, it was too late to return it (only had 15 days to return it which is a very short return policy deadline. I guess I won’t be buying from Best Buy anymore). Save your self some money and get an extreme gaming router. This model is not good for gaming.

Great WiFi router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The router setup was easy and I was able to do it via an iOS app. I did not see any improved Internet speeds via wireless connection tho.

Major dissapointment
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Major dissapointment This router has been nothing but trouble. While it may work for a bit, you will encounter dropped connections and slow speeds. I have tried numerous configurations and resets. Netgear support is basically useless. Look elsewhere.

Nighthawk
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. While paired with a modem, this next generation router does pretty well for a connected family of 4 in a quad-level home and provides wifi outside too.

Excellent router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Upgrading from a Linksys ea4500 and this is a clear improvement. Wifi 6 has a lot of potential. My place has 5+ users @ 100/MBS. No dead spots and connection seems slightly faster all day. Set up included an update and restart, about 20 minutes total. Combines the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands into one. Everything connected immediately and has been no issues for several days now, since first using it. Bonus the router looks like an Imperial star ship in Star Wars.

Nice design
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The only issue I have had was the initial connection to my laptop. The Intel wireless card needed to be updated. Have had no issues since the update.

Less Than Pleased
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It seems like my Nighthawk X6 was more consistent than this one. I had way less connectivity issues with that one, even if the AX8 has a higher cap. I tend to lag a lot more when I am streaming with this one and I have the firmware fully current on it. I am very disappointed. Especially for a router that ran me $500. Wi-Fi 6 is only found on select phones and tablets for now.

Great speed for wireless router
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So far, it has delivered stable fast speeds with minimum action on my part as far as rebooting, etc. I am achieving wireless speeds that compare favorably with ethernet cabled connections. And it looks like a Starwars fighter which makes it really cool.

Best router for personal use Ive bought so far
||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works extremely well, been using it for almost 2 years. No major problems. I do recommend pluging it into a sinewave ups they can be sensitive to dirty power. I work IT and have used many routers personal and buisness class units. For day to day heavy home use, this is a solid choice, obbiously would perfer it to be cheaper and work with more vpns but it is what it is
