Compatibility issues and unstable connections
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Starting with what worked good: Router was very easy to setup and works pretty good with my Samsung smart TVs. Now, the 1 start is because Netgear knows there are compatibility issues with XBOX One (as stated at Netgear website) but failed to mention in the product description or warn customers. The connectivity other than smart TVs is unstable too. I tried new firmware, old firmware, reset to factory default, update firmware again ... after spending several hours trying to get it to work the way it should I finally gave up and returned it. Bottom line, very disappointed at the product and NETGEAR for releasing such expensive router that works marginally.

Increased our speed and signal strength
||Posted . Owned for 1.5 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We lived in a 100+ year old, 5000 square foot house. We had a difficult time getting the WiFi to all 3 stories. In the areas that it did get to the signal was compromised. When we bought this router, all of that went away. We still used two routers, but the speed was improved tremendously. I am guessing in a newer, smaller house, you would not need the second router.

Speed not up to expectations.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My starting point benchmark was a NightHawk X4S / R7800. I did a speed test to iPhone XS, ~600Mbit at 5Ghz, ~90Mbit at 2.4Ghz. Wired speed test, ~950 Mbit. Bought an AX8, updated to latest firmware and ran a speed test- max 50 Mbit doesn't matter if 2.4 or 5Ghz. Changing channels didn't help. Wired speed test, ~850 Mbit. The wired setup was: Motorola MB8600 -> AX8 -> Netgear GS750E 48 port switch -> Linux i7-8650U server Pairs of cat 6 wires used the whole way through using Link Aggregation with theoretical bandwidth of 1.9 Gbit possible, capped at 1.21 gbit via ISP at MB8600. The AX8 has a fan which is audible during booting but quieter afterwards. Not really the experience I was hoping for $400 list retail, had to return it. If future reviewers could do similar benchmarks we can see if my unit in particular was defective, or if they all behave this way.

Easy to install and handles everything
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I upgrade my ac 1200 because it wans't handling my equipment anymore. I got ten security cameras and stream 4k movies on the tv while online gaming and i don't get a single hiccup from it. Do not let people deceive you with their reviews about old equipment not connecting all you got to do is reset your old equipment from any old wifi setting and star fresh and you wont have any problems.

This is a great router
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this router because I was having problems with a new TV streaming feature from my internet provider. The Netgear Nighthawk router installed very easily, and resolved all of my TV streaming problems. All of my other wired and wireless devices are working with no issues, and performance seems to be better than before. I have not tried the Wi-Fi 6 capability yet, but plan to on my next phone purchase.

Great Router
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's the little things you don't notice in using a dated router that you're thankful for when you upgrade. The big thing I noticed upon upgrade was my COD K/D greatly went up with a new router. 5 years is too long to hold on to budget router. I'll be sure to use this for a number of years to come........ or until my K/D starts slipping. Great router. Easy setup. Great look.

Stronger signal
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Spent a bit more this time hopefully will get a bit longer life. I know residential grade routers are only designed to last a coupe of years, and yes I push a lot of data through mine. The setup was easy, lots of features but still I Intuitive settings even for a beginner. I am liking the smart signal so only one ssid and it will figure out if your device can handle the higher frequency.

Had some problems
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In the beginning (6 months ago), the router ran fantastic, then 2 months ago, I started having issues with deadzones. We had the Spectrum tech come out and he was not able to resolve the problem so I switched back to my old router which is working flawlessly in conjunction with Nighthawk X6S. Updates may help, I will give it a try in a few months or wait for the next version.

replaced an aging ASUS with this
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had an ASUS RT-AC87U, that had given great coverage of my house and yard until recently. not sure if neighboring WiFi was encroaching, or if age was taking it's toll, but It was bad enough to demand a replacement. this NETGEAR has restored the range I had before, with no loss in speed, which is all I wanted.

Powerful enough for 3000sf old home
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was wary at first to spend this much on a router. But the wife was right, we now have over 40 iots (phones, TVs, dots, etc) not to mention two adults and 3 kids working from home...we needed a powerful router. At first I had a sub 100$ Wifi6 and returned it a week later. The ax8 is a powerful enough to stream HD three walls away. Happy I made this investment.
