It's a solid router but I'm not sure it's worth the price. I do get very fast download speeds but there are some connectivity issues at times. The download speeds I had with router I was renting from Xfinity were def not as fast but there were much less connectivity issues.

The router provides great coverage and good performance! I already had a Netgear X6 Extender, it detected it and soon there was broad coverage across all rooms.
The only thing missing and something that I really wanted was - parental and malware protection. For that reason, I returned.

Much better coverage in my house than my previous high end router, granted that unit was 5 years old. No issues with my 25+ connected units. Only downside was the price, but worth it for the performance.

This router has good range in the two story house I live in with the speed staying good. My only complaint is that when it's usuing the smart switching if actually makes you lose connection briefly and I can't seem to remedy otherwise I would have loved only needing one ssid and password.

This might be fine if you only have a couple devices, but I've had nothing but issues with this device. Sure the connections are fast, but my devices are constantly being dropped. This morning the router decided to just drop my main office switch, effectively disconnecting all my hardwired devices. I'm constantly rebooting, resetting, and screaming at this stupid StarWars shuttle craft looking, over prices, hunk of plastic.

Setup via the Nighthawk app..up and running in 5mins. Coverage across a 3300sqft house improved tremendously. Replaced a Nighthawk X6 which was good but not as effective. Highly recommend...you get what you pay for.

Not Enough for Gigabit Speeds

Towards the end of November I decided to upgrade my WiFi plan to the 1 Gigabit from Xfinity. Previously I had speeds of 15 Mbps and I had to upgrade my equipment. I ended up using Xfinity's own modem for a few days before I decided to buy my own modem. When I had to look for a router I came upon this Netgear Nighthawk AX600. I was drawn to this mainly for the new 802.11 ax technology. Before buying this I already knew I wouldn't be able to fully benefit from the technology unless I had devices that were compatible with the 802.11 ax technology.
After I bought the router I installed it and perform updates before I started using it. Right away I was pretty disappointed at the WiFi speeds. My internet connection gives me around 930 on Ethernet and the speed drops to the 600s when using WiFi. I had this router for about 2 weeks and performed constant speed tests to get the speed at any given moment. The most common speed for me was 480 Mbps. At first I thought this was the max speeds over WiFi. Before I returned this router I decided to purchase the Asus RT-AC5300. On my first day of testing with the new router I noticed speeds reach high 500s and also reaching around 640 Mbps. The WiFi speeds were completely different with this router when compared to the Netgear one.
I also decided to test this router against the Asus one on range. The Netgear router drops about 200 Mpbs when going from a second floor to a basement getting max speeds of 280 Mbps. It still covers most of the house but the drop is significant. I decided to compare the Asus router on the range and apart from providing fasted WiFi speeds, it also provided better range. In the basement I was getting speed of around 450 Mbps constantly. This was around the same download speeds that I was getting with the Netgear router when standing in the same room.
The Netgear router is a lot more expansive and did not provide any improvements for a Gigabit connection. Apart from that, the Asus router has more features and it is easier to manage router from anywhere as long as you have an Internet connection.
I'm sure people have valid reasons to buy this router but for me it didn't provide any improvements.

This router is good but pricey. It lack some features like parental control or firewall, this is built on wifi 6 to future proof, but would recommend to wait on some new generation router which is less pricey.

I originally purchased a tp-link but could not get past 400mbps on a 1000mbps service.
I purchased this on (however the cost was twice as much) but i get wired right out of the router over 900mbps and wireless, between 750 to 800mbps. Very impressed.
Personally, I think this router should cost around $300, not $400, but I'd still rather pay twice as much to be able to access what I'm paying for from the cable company, rather than just settling for 2/3 the speed I should be getting.
I would recommend this router if you want the most from your cable provider.

I purchased this since old router was having trouble with consistent speed and many devices. I have no AX devices to test with, but it still has been impressive with AC devices.
My speed has been great on Xfinity gigabit internet. I usually get about 625Mbps over WiFi on iPhone and iPad. I get about 800Mbps on MacBook Pro and 940 over Ethernet on Apple TV.
The software has some bugs in it such as settings not working correctly, but Netgear has pushed updates and hopefully it will continue to improve. I was able to fix the few issues I had by Factory Reset device and turning off QoS after reading some suggestions online.

The unit works well but we loose WIFI from time to time. The range is great. We can use it all the way in the corner of the yard. Its easy to set up with the app. Parental controls are great too.

I just bought this router after seeing it listed as 25% off. I had to call customer support to get the thing connected to the internet, which took only about 15 minutes to do. I originally thought it was as easy as plugging the router in, downloading the Nighthawk app, and following the instructions through the app, but I was wrong. Anyways, once the router was up and running, I noticed my WiFi range is 10x better than it was with my previous router and the speeds are great. I like how with the Nighthawk app there are many customization options and what not. I highly recommend.

The Netgear Nighthawk AX8 8-stream Wi-Fi 6 router is an outstanding addition to a home with a number of computers and TVs. It screams with our two iPhone 11's which honor the new protocol. 4K streaming is also flawless with a very rare buffering on an Apple TV box. Our Fixed Wireless provider only delivers 23.5 Mb/s on an average. Can't complain about this router and the Netgear Armour from Bitstream is an welcome bonus. Note the Armour will not yet work with Big Sur although it performs flawlessly on Catalina.

We bought this router to replace an older Netgear router that was starting to show its age. We have a larger home (3600 sq ft on three levels) and can have up to 6 family members sharing the wifi signal at a time. The Nighthawk AX8 was very easy to set up, and we were able to retain all of our existing wifi router names and passwords, so the family did not have to update settings on their phones and laptops. The signal is clearly stronger and more reliable, and I am very happy with this upgrade.

Blazing fast and easy to setup. Unit is in our garage of our 2600 square foot house and we get a good signal corner to corner. Handles multiple lifx smart bulbs, three streaming TVs, tablets, PCs, Macs, phones, tablets, smart doorbell, security, Nest, and even a smart scale. This device is a beautiful conductor that can handle all but the smartest homes. I have been very pleased with this router. If it fails Best Buy has us covered as I opted for the reasonable piece of mind protection plan.

I've owned this for almost a month as it replaced my older Netgear router. I had that router for around 5 years and it was awesome the whole time. My favorite feature is being able to pause my children's internet usage. It stops all the arguments when I can just go on the app and stop the devices with a click. They know better than to come to me. We stream multiple devices at the same time and no issues whatsoever. The signal is great throughout the house as well as outside the house. I'm really enjoying my upgraded Netgear router!

AX not compatible with Dell laptop. Had to turn AX off in router settings via browser. Otherwise, setup and performance very nice. Performance seems better than my old ASUS AC3200 router. App is quite limited in functionality, but what it does it does well. No fan noise issues or dropped connections. Firmware updated once right after setup. Hoping Netgear will fix laptop compatibility issue with update. Will turn AX back on when AX clients available, hopefully.

Competent Router for a Connected Home

Our house is filled with several Wi-Fi and Ethernet connected devices. When it was time to finally replace our old congested router, we bought the TP-Link AX6000 WiFi6 router. Well, that eventually turned out to be an expensive hot mess with no USA based tech support. We had owned it too long to return it so we took the plunge again and bought this one.
The Netgear experience is more competent and after owning it for several months, its been nearly trouble-free. The few issues we did encounter were related to a few of the connected devices, not the router.
