When you know how to setup wireless... not so much for beginners. But the app makes setup a lil bit easier. Its perfect for gaming, streaming.. surfing. A lil pricey.. but u kinda future proof yourself for the next 2-3 years. If u have internet less than 500mbps... wouldnt be worth it. But if u have 500mbps and up... by all means

The AX6000 is a beast of a router. The speed is excellent and unless you are needing a LOT of 5 gHz coverage or bandwidth, this is the best fit. I am testing out the SmartSwitch for moving connections between the 2.4 gHz band and the 5 gHz band depending on draw. We are currently running 14-18 items on this router that range from printers, a Ring doorbell, gaming systems (2), a couple Roku's, a couple Alexa's, phones, and other IoT things. I do notice that about once a month this will need re-booted. I think the SmartSwitch can get bogged down after tracking everything and just needs refreshed. The NightHawk app is great. You can remotely control what is connected. You can't move it to different bands, but you can turn things off and on, which is a great tool for when there is something connected that should not be or perhaps someone isn't turning that gaming system off when they were asked to 10 minutes ago (wink wink). The price is a bit steep, but you are making a long term investment here as I am expecting at least 6-10 year out of this router. Do check online pricing for this as prior to purchasing. Best Buy price matches, this includes their own online prices if you are purchasing in the store.
Ease of use got a 4/5 rating only as the reboots are a bit annoying and the SmartSwitch was not nearly as "smart" as it made it out to be. Some of the connected items are not great at bandwidth changes. Apple products are a prime example.

The nighthawk has been absolutely amazing for this night owl with its soaring hawk like speeds making streaming seamless and gaming superb. No longer need to kick someone else off the internet to watch Netflix. Our speed, reliability and signal strength has dramatically improved since upgrading to the nighthawk. 100% recommend

This review is for the Netgear RAX80 router. I've only had the router for about a week now. This router is probably overkill for the 17 devices I have on my network. I have 2 iPhones, 3 amazon echos, 3 laptops, 1 desktop(wired), 6 Fire TV devices of various age (4 wired), 2 Smart TVs, 1 smart 4k BluRay player(wired) and 1 3D BluRay player. This device handles them all without issue, so far, with it's 1.8 GHz quad core CPU. I replaced a Netgear R8000 router that started having stability issues. First I tried a Netgear R8000P, but it froze up once, like the older model, and rebooted once on it's own reverting to factory settings, so I returned it. I really didn't want to spend the extra $, but we have had smooth HD Live TV streaming with this device, only one program on Netflix buffered a few times during the 50 minute duration. The next episode experienced no buffering. I don't have any AX wireless devices yet and it will probably be a while before more come to market. I used the web interface to set it up and completed the setup in about 20 minutes. It was straight forward and easy. Overall... So far so good!

This replaced a Nighthawk X6S. When I thought I couldn't squeeze any more performance out of the previous unit, this proved me wrong. It's better in every category. The speeds are much more consistent. Most of all, it works with all my 45 devices from legacy to current technology.

I bought this because my grandson does a lot of online games. This is so fast, and keeps up with the games nicely. Easy to set up, no problems encountered. In fact, his friends sometimes bring their laptops to our house to use our WiFI to do homework--says it is the best

It doesnt have the range i would have hoped, but it works very well through the multiple surfaces, I have the Extender one floor up and wifi now reaches everywhere.
There has been no speed drop on any devices and i have the whole house wired with Google assistant ,
I never give 5 stars unless im blown away, but this is a solid. 4.5 stars.

The Netgear Nighthawk AX8 was fairly easy to set up; however, the instructions are not very clear. It takes the Nighthawk some time to become fully functional. In my case it was several hours. After all devices were comfortable with the router, it has all been good.

Awesome router! Living in a large house with lots of people with 20+ devices going. This thing handles the load like a champ. Next to no drop signals either. One huge plus is the ability to cut off devices people leave on, but is still taking up bandwidth.

Ok guys so here's the deal about high tech products. They think you know what needs to be done so they give you a "manual" that's "download this app for setup" and presto you're magically set up. WRONG. I am 28 so fairly young and I consider myself to be pretty up to date on tech so downloading an app was easy enough. There's so much unsaid to the set up guide that they don't tell you.
With that being said, if you get this, keep your data running whole setting it up. I THINK that's the only reason it worked after 4 hours with Netgear tech support, a borrowed laptop from a friend, 2 hours with charter support and a whole lot of frustration.
Since we got it to work though, the internet has been crazy fast!!! I'm just praying that I never have to set up another one of these again.

I would give it 5 stars but you have to fiddle around with the settings www.routerlogin.com. Had to call tech for help. For now it's up to normal speed. It started off at 50% of my normal wifi speed I got from older nighthawk devices. I'm 100% sure if you don't know stuff, a) you'll end up doing hours of research, and/or b) end up getting tech support which may or may not resolve it. It was a replacement for the Nighthawk X6S AC4000 8000p (one of the 5g bands were inconsistent and eventually died with tech support). I am finding that you have to fiddle around with these high end products WAY too much. So much mixed reviews on all these routers, I felt lack of confidence more and more purchasing. Anyways, don't let that damper you. Maybe you will have an easier experience than I have had the last week or so of hours and hours of troubleshooting, bad connections, tech support, exchanging etc.
Recommendation: I'll put YES for now, only cause maybe you'll get a better run for your money and time.

Pros: Easy set up with phone app. Simultaneous devices, no lag.
Cons: weak wifi range and strength, Smart connect a bust.
Tech Savy: Barely, YouTube and Google for how to stuff.
I had the NETGEAR NIGHTHAWK AX8 initially. Supposed to be great signal and similar ish specs to the ASUS AX6000 minus some FEATURES. Had Netgear for almost 2 weeks. Signal tested using SPEED TEST by OOkla. Hardwired was great I have Frontier FIOS 500/500 was getting 530ish over 500ish for download and upload. Was able to connect multiple devices 4k streaming, TV, 4k cameras 2 of them hardwired, ring doorbell pro and phone. Wifi was strong near the router but at distance had some issues with signal strength and speed. I felt my old Spectrum service/router had more range and better speed at distance than the Nighthawk AX8. It would work at distance but just slower. Supposed to be slower at distance but my old ISP router was still faster. Used variation of both 5g and 2.4 to test speed. The Smart connect also made it worse for some reason, and was much slower. Wood, plaster and a couple walls for building material 1500 sqft home. Possible original lead paint that was painted over on walls, not sure tho. 1959 home. Due to slow wifi speed and lack of range (at least for my home) I returned it for the ASUS AX6000 after reading reviews and tests on range.
Skipping to ASUS AX88U aka AX6000. Set up with lap top. Not too difficult. Hardwired test using xbox one 530-540s and 500s ish download and upload. Sometimes higher sometimes lower but haven't gotten lower than 499 on download. Wifi tested around my house each room and outside just like Netgear. Range was much better next to router close to 400s down and upload using my wife's galaxy s8+. I don't have a lap top with 5g capability FYI. In room was able to use Instagram Facebook, web browsing no slow loading. Fast connection around my house. Laundry room the slowest loading but was still faster than the Netgear AX8. Range was just better and seemed faster connection via wifi around the house than Netgear. No special settings just simple set up. Both routers seemed to be on channels that didn't have a lot of congestion. The Asus just has better penetration of signal. First aftermarket routers I've ever bought. I connected 4ktv streaming VUDU MOVIES AT 4K while ring pro was connected as well as my hardwired xbox and hardwired 4k cameras to the NVR SYSTEM with my phone on 5g. Streamed fine with no lag. Excellent router. Go with the ASUS AX6000. Best buy price matched as long as its shipped and sold by Amazon. Fyi save yourself some cash. Just my two cents after having both. Maybe a different home set up it would be fine for someone else or if your more tech savvy fiddle with the settings more. But for me out of the box the ASUS seemed to have farther range and faster speed. The other features I'm not too concerned with. If you have a house with maybe dense walls and thick building material I would say ASUS. AX6000. Multiple device and hardwired stuff either one would be fine.

The thing needs a couple of minor issues taken care of in a firmware update. Otherwise it was very easy to set up and begin using. I have Gig speed cable internet and the router shows no degradation in speed/bandwidth on any connected device.

Make sure you are getting all of the speed you are paying for. This router is amazing for any household that has tons of devices and streams going at the same time. Was a gift to my son but he says that it is awesome.
