    Keeps losing synchronization with Comcast

    I received this item from Amazon, self activation with Comcast didn't go smoothly at all. Had to leave it installed for about 15 minutes before the modem was visible to comcast. I suspect there was a firmware update or some provisioning that happened. It worked great for two days, then I started losing synchronization with the ISP. Rebooted the system from the web administration page, still couldn't synchronize with the ISP. By physically unplugging it and plugging it back in, it connected and synchronized. The modem would work for a few hours and then lose synchronization. After about 3 loss of synchronization, I suspected it was a bad modem, I went to Best Buy and picked up another CM1000, activated with Comcast. After a few hours the same thing started to happen. I was frustrated enough to go back to best buy and pick up a CM600 and the CM600 has been working great with no issues. I did not have any issues with the cable line before upgrading to the CM1000, I had an Arris SB6190 and never had any synchronization issues, and the CM600 does not have any issues either, so I am sure it is something wrong with the modem. I called comcast while connected and they said the signals look fine on the line, I then called netgear support and they were not helpful at all. Also, I was on the latest firmware version.

    Needed to upgrade cable modem. Decided to purchase rather then rent from COMCAST. Paired this with new NIGHTHAWK router, great combination!

    UP TO....... 1Gbps.

    It is a decent modem it works but it only provides speeds of "UP TO" 1Gbps so when im paying for 1g and only getting 5-600 my cable provider states its the modems fault since it is only UP TO 1Gbps so if you have mediacom and want your full internet speed this would be a hard pass otherwise if you do not care than awesome. I definitley plan to get a different modem.

    Unable to Activate with Xfinity

    I was attempting to move away from the Xfinity rental and the CM1000v2 seemed like a well-reviewed option. However, setup immediately went sideways while using the Xfinity app. The modem was caught in a constant cycle of trying to connect or activate with no real progress after 20-30 minutes. I called Xfinity and they confirmed that the CM1000v2 is still supported but, for some reason, the MAC address of the exact modem I bought was not supported. I had never heard of this before. I contacted Netgear and they confirmed the MAC address was correct but didn't understand why Xfinity couldn't activate it. They suggested calling Xfinity again and, if it still doesn't work, getting both Xfinity and Netgear on a call to resolve. To me, this is way too much work for what should be a trivial activity. I'll be returning this modem.

    This product boosted my WiFi, Comcast was trying to encourage me to keep their products and pay for it monthly. Smh. Getting my own was the best decision ever!!!!
