    So far so good. This replaced my 3 year old Arris that started giving me problems. The Arris was a gigabyte modem also.

    I was excited to get this and return my Comcast one. I purposely picked one that had a higher spec and expected to get more performance. To start it wouldn’t connect to the internet and after contacting help desk, the next day I was able to finally get it going. Since then it stops the internet out and hadn’t shown any performance upgrade when it does work.

    Modem works great but it has 2 dissatisfiers: 1. It is ENORMOUS 2. Lights cannot be disabled

    If I was reviewing just the modem's performance, I would rate this 5 stars. It functioned as expected for the first few months, but I started running into issues that caused the modem to crash up to 6 times a day. I wasn't sure what the issue was so I phoned my ISP and then Netgear support after confirming it was something to do with the hardware. Netgear REFUSED to help me unless I subscribed to their $90 support plan. This would be fine if I was a business in need of 24/7 support, but that's not the case. The caller attempted to sell me this subscription plan 4 times before admitting they couldn't help me. This is the last time I will ever buy a Netgear product. Ended up buying a modem from my ISP to replace it less than a year after I bought it, and replaced my Netgear router as well (spoiler alert: they pretty much bricked the router with a buggy firmware update).
